Has any found a way to move or install apps to the SD card? I know there is a fix for the GS3, but due to the locked bootloader there is probably no chance it will work on our Notes. So far it seems like the only option is to bind apps, but this seems tedious and probably not useful for smaller apps.
Apps2SD is not an option right now, there is a way to bind the apps and extra data and run them from the ext. SD card. Check out this current thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262
Do you guys think this will work?
http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-n...sd-card-with-rooted-galaxy-note-2-app2sd-mod/
I know it says it has only been tested on the other versions. But I know who a guy who did this on his Sprint Note 2 and he did it on someone else's Verizon Note 2 and he said it worked on the Verizon one too. I don't know enough about anything to know if it would work without doing it myself and I'm not brave enough to try it yet.

Yeah, that is the way I was talking about in OP. It doesn't work in 4.2 either, so after update (however far that may be) it will be pointless to set my phone up this way/will just have to find a new way.
It sucks, from browsing around it looks like there really isn't a way.
After I posted my original link I found mentions of two other apps, the last one I already mentioned but it was commented that the first two may be alternatives as well. Its worth a read.

For what it's worth, I've tried all the directory bind methods and the App2SD apps and the only thing that works is Link2SD.

Not that we will get it for awhile, but isn't link2sd incompatible with 4.2?
That would suck, but it sounds like it works with 4.1.1 and hopefully 4.1.2. My GN2 is on Verizon so I somehow think we would be luck to see 4.2 a year from now.

This is initially why I strayed away from this app. I guess I have no choice now. ~10gb is way to small for all the apps I like to have on my device.
I agree, I will be d/l this app and using it on mine. I will worry about the 4.2 compatibility issue when its time to cross that bridge (if it ever comes to it). I want all my games and stuff and 10GB is a joke today. Honestly I don't know how Nexus 4 users can get by with 8GB on a phone once formatted and OS loaded what do they have left 4-5GB, ouch.
What about Titanium Backup?
Doesn't TB have this option?
I have not tried it yet, but this is one of the reasons I was considering paying for a full license...
Titanium will not work on this device. I changed the Restore location to External and it just hung up while trying to restore a simple app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30878179&postcount=34
I followed the above while on S3 and worked really well. Perhaps a Dev can modify it to work with GN2.
I bought Titanium and tried to move to SD ... my phone made a noise and vibrated, but no files were moved. Well at least I have the pro version now lol.
There's always Directory Bind!!

Post 3 had the above link. So I downloaded. Now, I'm running Beans ROM, FYI. First thing, make sure Busybox is installed. I installed from Market and did Normal Install within Busybox.
The Apps2SD script was initially saved in Download. I moved it to /System/etc/init.d folder, using Root Explorer.
Install SManager as stated in link.
Browse as Root
Went to System/etc/init.d folder. Select the Apps2Sd file and click on SU & Boot...click on Save. Reboot.
That should do it. Went to Titanium and it shows my 64GB as my internal storage. Installed Dark Knight Rises and it's going to my microSD card.
titanium backup
Titanium backup does it save your apps to sd card, I had 33 and clicked move and it shows them on sd card now, unless its just sayin and really didnt move them, theres a app that showed them moved, but from what I see they are moved
I found another app mentioned on the forums here, from what I have read it seems to work with JB 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 but will NOT work with JB 4.2 so we have something to use while we can. Links2SD https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&hl=en I have not had a chance to test it yet, but others have said it works.

I've tried it. I think people may have been mislead into thinking it works. I have partitioned my card as Fat32/ext and both are primary. I chose my ext partition and it mounts. It shows that it is there, HOWEVER, when I create a link (tried it on all my apps) it says that the link has been created/files have been moved, however, when I go back into the storage info, the device shows the same amount of GB/MB on the internal and external.
Can anyone confirm that the files are actually moved, or is this just like app2sd?
And as far as that App2SD script goes, it is nice, but I don't like tricking the system to thinking ext is int. It seems like there would be some issues with this.

Good effort "rikirix". Link to the original thread by the maker of the app "Bakpinar" is here.
@Tehouster
It is convenient and may be better (I haven't tried apps2SD) than apps2sd.
1) It allows to choose which apps to link to SDcard. Doesn't allow system apps though and one don't need that too.
2)The app is convenient to install & use. No command line. Simple install ".apk".
3)Can move any user installed apps from phone to SD card and vice versa at any point time through the app.
4) Working very well in my x10 mini (with latest firmware) with 16gb class2 Sandisk card with 800mb ext2 partition.
5) Constant upgrades by the developer.
6) No need to have a clean install of firmware in phone and no need to format card for making ext2 partition. Can use partition manager to resize and create a fresh ext2 partition in existing phone firmware.
The app is worth trying and will make x10 mini a bit more usuable in absence of Froyo.

i tryed different scripts of app2sd some never worked .the one that worked slow down my whole phone i gave up.then i saw this thread..................
thanks to both the maker of the apk and the poster who pointed it out.

It seems that this thread its not getting proper focus. You may change the caption to a more catchy one like "MOVE ANY USER INSTALLED APP TO SD CARD" or similar.
Moreover, I would request the MODs to move this thread to themes and app section which appears more appropriate. Most of the users are still running behind apps2sd, I don't know whether its intentional or ignorance. Anyway we may try to help more mini/pro users by trying to highlight this thread.
Thx for the link! Got it working on my X10 mini pro! Awesome!
i have used and it is nice but the problem is that you cannot install apps directly to sd, for larger games like NFS shift it is a problem.

Didn't know that. However, the advantages of Link2SD surpasses the disadvantages for me. May be some more problems (like yours) will be taken care of as the app gets upgraded. At least lets hope so. Even, I learnt from some Froyo user (in the original thread) that Froyo doesn't support HS Widget once the app is moved to SD card whereas this app cooly supports HS widgets. Great!
Hello everyone,
I've (CF) rooted my S3 only to move app data to my extSD card. The official stock firmware (JB 4.1.1) is still on it, and i would like to keep it that way (serves me good). I've tried directory bind and Link2SD.
Both of the apps don't work (or i'm to much of a noob to get it going)!
Directory bind just moves files from one location, but when i start the app, it gives me a error (in this case, tomtom).
Also the alternative management options in this app, dont give me tools to "bind".
Link2SD makes links (on the second partition of the ext.sd) but doesn't want to move the app data to the first partition of the ext.sd The error is "insufficient storage space", but there is over 27gb of (fat32) free space. The second extsd partition is 2gb of ext4.
Am I doing something wrong, or is the official stock FW just not up to the task?
Greetings, RedKingCrab

It seems that some versions are not well supported yet. Maybe in a couple of monts it will. I'll try again later on, including GL to SD.
So i've unrooted my S3 allready, because rooting it gave me troubles installing manual apps!
If I manualy wanted to install a apk file, i got an error (not enough memory )

I don't think you can just toss everything on your card like that because not all apps will work natively from the sd card like you used to be able to do with previous versions of Android.. You would have to run a mod to get your sd card to be set as internal and vice versa... Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772234 :good:

Hey shojus, thanks for help and the links. Can you confirm that this works on the Verizon version of the Note 2 specifically? I ask because I'm really nervous about flashing my phone too much and possibly bricking it. I'm actually very tech savvy, but this is my first jump into rooting an Android phone. Here's the basic scoop:
I need more space so I rooted my phone so I could employ a memory mod to give myself more room for apps. I first attempted using directory bind, but that didn't seem to work. It DID bind apps to my external sd, but there were several issues popping up (apps that refused to load, and more importantly the actual directory bind app was glitching). I ended up ditching that method and thought I'd look into a memory switch method, such as the one you've linked to. However, after thoroughly reading up on the idea of rooting and custom roms, etc, I'm nervous about flashing the wrong rom or patching the wrong software and killing my Note 2. I have a Verizon Note 2 that I rooted using Odin and I used Bean's rom to do so. I really like Bean's rom, but I don't mind flashing to a new rom if it means I'll be able to get more memory. I may end up just flashing to the rom you linked to that has the memory-switch built in to it, but I really do like Bean's rom, so I'd rather find a way to get the memory switch done while still running Bean's rom, if that's possible. If not, can I just jump from Bean's rom (like I currently am) into that other custom rom that has the memory-switch built in?
Thanks for the help!
Hi guys, I am running cm10.1.3RC2 (so my device is rooted) and I want to utilize my 32gb SD card. Does anyone know how I can move apps to my sd card?
Also, does anyone know a safe way to re partition my internal HD so I can free up the 8.xgb of data that touchwiz used that I no longer will?
Please let me know if you can help!!
I would suggest buying and download Titanium Backup, an EXTREMELY useful app for more than just what you are asking for. With this app you can move them as easy as this! There are also several free apps that should do just what you are asking: AppMgr III, App2SD, Apps 2 SD. If you use any of those, be sure to read their instructions as the first of those three requires the SGS4 to be updated to the latest ROM first (which I don't think you want to do).
Here is a list of bloatware you can delete to free up some space. Some may take up next-to-nothing, but others may be taking up quite-a-bit. Notice that they are using Titanium Backup to make a backup first, just in case you delete something you wanted to keep or need.
You can also find ROMs like AOSP ROMs, which should help in recovering a lot of that space. But be sure to research, there are always things to take note of (i.e. many people believe the TW ROM has a better quality camera than the AOSP ROMs).

Thanks for the advice! I downloaded app2sd and it says my phone is not supported. Additionally, with the flashing of the CM10.1.3RC2, I deleted all bloat ware, but still only have 9gb available.
When I follow the directions regarding moving to sd from titanium, when I clock backup/restore, no apps show up. I am using the pro version (the free version, not the pay-for version), could that be the issue?
Thanks!
I use "folder mount" as a way to move folders from my device to my sd card. I bought the app.
I'm not real sure if tibu can move them. But, to find out, go into preferences, scroll down to backup folder location and click on it. See where it has your back ups going to. If it is not to your external sd card, see if you can create a path to it. I'm not sure if it will or not, but look at it and see. Other than those two suggestions, I guess you can take the ota update as that is supposed to let you move things to the sd card, I think.

I believe you need the paid version to do most of the useful things on Titanium Backup, I was never ever to accomplish anything with the free version.
You could try gimpy's suggestion of Folder Mount.
Nandroid Manager may let you do something in their free version, not sure though.
You can also try this method, but this will just make sure everything from then on will go onto your SD card (which will act like internal memory).

RootExplorer is free and you can move and rename any folder. I would use this over folder mount just in my opinion. Easy to find your apps and move them right to your extsd card. But there are a ton of options. And for what your talking about on Titanium you have to have the pro version free doesn't let you.
Any clues on how to get FolderMount app to work from a Rom / slot ?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...evasque.fmount
It seems the source path is wrong as compared to running it from the stock ROM where it finds the given folders/apps.
the source path shows: /storage/emulated/0
Normally this would populate with the given apps/folders desired to select but not working (as in listing anything) when trying from a ROM/slot and I have no clue what the path structure is via booted in a ROM slot in safestrap.

Yea me to, lol, and I've been having a hard time figuring out where to best report/post about this issue to get a response or possible solution. I brought it up once in the "Safestrap" thread in [General] but got no replies. Then later on in that thread, another user was mentioning the use of FolderMount as his solution to free up internal card memory to another Safestrap user so I replied to that posing my question again, however, got no response as to the answer. I know it's a source (path) issue but can't figure it out when booted into a ROM slot.
Thanks for replying though because I myself was starting to think I was losing my mind. :cyclops:

Is this a safestrap issue or is it a hyperdrive issue with the way HD structures the file system?
Does FM app just need to include/make available the option to choose /sdcard0 rather than emulated? The option to choose your own path in FM does not show this branch?
I am caching over 10gb of slacker music and this may be the deal breaker for using safestrap.
