Hello, I tried rooting my Xperia Arc S today and i totally failed, I'm new to this rooting thing so I searched for a quick and easy guide and found this
youtube.com/watch?v=JtzA3fppllE
I followed the instructions but it does not mention you have to install ClockWorkMod before you flash your cellphone... I just followed the steps the guy indicated and ended up with my cellphone displaying the SONY logo and then changing to the Sony Ericsson Logo over and over again, even if I press the volume up key, press and hold, spam, whatever I do it's the same, I connected it to my computer and it does the very same thing, I know I'm an idiot for not reading other guides or something but now I have no cellphone and I really need to either finish rooting it or reset it to ginger bread, I don't know, I just want my cellphone to work, please tell me there is a solution, Thanks a lot!
Well why dont you try downloading Sony's official flashtool and reflash ics to get rid of the bootloob?
If that doesn't work, flash over the ics firmware using flashtool
The firmware can be found on xda

First, download the Sony update service. There it is easy to follow the steps to get the official Sony ics Firmware.
Then, (if you want to root it) search the xda forum.
but remember to unlock your bootloader! You'll find a lot of tutorials in here. If not, then send a pm
Sorry for my bad english.
Greetings, Cartman

Guys i wanna root my Xperia S but i have some questions..
So basicly my questions:
1. Will i have problems with root when i want to update to ICS
2. If i update to ICS will root stay or do i have to re-root
3. If yes for question 2 will there be root for ICS the first day ICS will arrive?
4. My last question can someone give me a link for a good tutorial to root my xperia s..?
Thanks all

yes for now the only way to root is to install the custom img using the fastboot which required the unlocking once you give it imei to sony the the only option to get the ICS will be via the flashtool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527133
So my xperia interface will change a bit if i do this root?

No change to the interface once you root.
Guys come on be a little more specific, i am new to android i dont know what all these stuff means etc explain me when u say something in good details. What is flashtool. Pleaseee

If you don't really understand what rooting your phone means then I would suggest that you don't really have a need to do it.
If you want to know how to unlock your bootloader and root your XS then read the relevant stickies in the Dev Forum, they explain everything in detail, you just have to spend the time to read them.

Read the very very detailed explanations, links, etc in the dev forum.
just rooted my xperia s last night, was able to unlocked it then i download cm9 and did the fastboot boot.img thing now as i open my phone all i get is the free xperia logo what should i do?
Rooting and flashing always come with user responsibility... (that's why I tend not to do this on new phones with valid warranty)
Try using the search function in the forum first. Or even try to do some basic google search for troubleshooting beforehand.
And BTW we actually have a Q&A section for question and answer.

When I installed a ROM on my phone, there was the SE logo on my E10i, and there was nothing except the logo, it won't even force shut down. How can I revert it back to Android 2.1, because I DON'T WANT EVER AGAIN TO INSTALL ROMs!!!!!!

If you would follow up on all the questions you had already asked you might not be in this mess, but you never seem to read or appreciate any of the answers...
Figure it out yourself.

Download pc companion or sony update service, click in sus on your phone, reinstall/repair firmware (something like that) and then you just have to plug your phone in flashmode again. It will flash the firmware (guess it will wipe data) and it should be fine
I've got the same problem as you. just download firmware for your device (search in google), then flash via flashtool.

What Was the Previous Version Of Your Android before Upgrading It to .587 ?
This Problem is very Common Among Those use .58 of 2.3.4 on their LWW before Upgrading.Just Remove Your SD card and Completely Format It , You can Copy ur music and other personal files But DO NOT COPY files created My phone like android , data , .android_secure or something simply copy those are of ur personal Interest.
Then Flash The .ftf from the link given below and flash .58 firmware and root ur device (if u wish but if not leave the step no. 3 undone and u will not be rooted) then upgrade using ur phone To .62 as a system update from the update center (do not use PC).
after that u will get a clean .62 Firmware.
If u wish to install the ICS please install it via Offline mode as it provides u clean install and no problem (i am using it)

Hello everyone, this is my first post on the forum. Recently I had my xperia with android 2.3 unlocked 'cause i wanted to switch my service provider (I live in Mexico, btw) but ever since then the phone's been having constant freezes and if the phone unfreezes I get a message saying that com.sonyericsson.homescreen has failed.
Any advice? Thanks in advance!
