Hopefully we'll get a slightly less Macgyvered MIUI sometime soon, with more ROMs to follow.

Please note that AOSP developers have asked that prospective downloaders wait for the greenlight to download ICS, as it hasn't entirely propogated through their system, and you may end up with a hodgepodge of files from ICS and Gingerbread if you download now.
Moving this to General as there is no development going on in this thread... just informing everyone about the release of 4.0.1

Source code release means ROMs are basically done, and we should all prep for installing them by running backups.
Remember last year how the GB ROMs for the captivate started flowing 48 hours after GB source dropped.

I don't really get the sarcasm of ^^^ entirely, but yeah, does this mean we might be able to get ICS by the end of this year? I honestly thought that we had to wait for Samsung to code ICS for the international version first, of which devs would make ROMs out of

CM tends to be unable to go very far without the vendor-proprietary bits.
It's possible but EXTREMELY difficult. The CM team has said it'll probably be at least 4-5 months to integrate in general, that's not counting device-specific bringups.
The fastest route to ICS is likely going to be porting an I9100 release.

Thanks for the dose of reality. I hate getting all worked up anticipating something that wont be around (or at least stable) for several months. Now i can just put this in the back of my mind and be pleasantly surprised if it happens sooner.
is any dev working on new rom?
you have to be patient & bare with it. It's always slow in the beginning & it picks up later on. Tomorrow I'll be switching from a N7000 to i717 but it will be well worth it in the long run.
I heard Team Kang (AOKP) and Codename want to release a rom for us. Maybe in the next few weeks or in few months, that's what we don't know.
I just Rooted, put cwm, and overclocked thanks to da-g. Check out his posts in development forums... seems to be working really well!

And our problem is that we only have a couple of devs and relatively low interest in this device all together
It's only been a month... You can't ask for a source for something and then claim something equally unbelievable. You all need to calm down. It's been one freaking month.

I simply haven't heard anything about aokp for this device when not a single dev has mentioned anything about an ics build. although I'm sure we'll see something after the official ics release.
How am I knocking the device? I like my note. It's safe to say this won't have as wide of a dev adoption as the s2, Atrix, skyrocket, and one x. Mostly due to the release schedule.

Just an FYI, I had an Atrix on day one and the same things were said about it a month after release (not much dev adoption, low interest in device, etc). So if the Atrix has such great adoption and dev support, then I think it's safe to say it's only a matter of time for this device, too.

I come from the HD2. When I got the phone, it was so hard to get that there were entire threads dedicated to when/where you got yours. Every store sold out the day the trucks ran, sometimes within minutes.
It took forever to get a decent version of Android to boot up, and for an entire year we were stuck with SD versions until they finally got a hacked-up bootloader that could get NAND installed.
Even today, that is one of the heaviest dev'd phones this forum has ever seen, running every version of Windows Mobile, Android and even several flavors of Linux. I don't think that this phone will come close to the activity seen there, but if it does I wouldn't expect to have this phone completely unlocked and running as many ROMs as the HD2 any time this year.
Many people keep saying, "It's only been a month!" and I can only agree with that. I would be disappointed but not surprised to see no significant developments on this phone in the next 4 months. As a matter of fact, I really expect to see an official ICS release before CM9 hits us.
But I've been wrong before...

TWO roms from the Collective?
Why TWO? What is so significant between them that requires TWO different versions? Unless one is for the international version and one for the ATT version (the only thing I can think of)...
I'm wondering if there is anything holding back an AOSP build for the HOX+. I've read that it might be lack of kernel source, S-OFF, or a driver related issue. I've noticed a lot of Sense-based ROM's pop up lately and I was just curious if there's something we're waiting on before a AOSP ROM can be possible, or if it's just lack of development. I'm coming from a Gnex so I don't know a great deal about subsidized phone "hacking".
Lloir is currently working on CM10 and has said he expects it to be ready before the end of the year.
ah, that's great news. I hope us at&t users will get some loving as well.

This device is so underrated and is now becoming a real beast in the dev support community. We have AOKP, CM 10.2, Clean, Mallidus, Vanir AOSP, roms with more development showing up everyday. It may not be an offical "nexus" device, but with LOKI and root, it's beginning to feel that way. I came from the GNex and I remember the support that device got. I made the right choice!!
Yessir!!!! Let the good times roll
I am going to go and thanks all the Dev for coming here. =)

We now have Paranoid Android too It may not be a nexus, but since there's no chance of a nexus 5 on Verizon, I don't think I will miss it that much. The builds will soon get stable and we will be able to enjoy this device whether on a stock rom or an aosp one.

What!? I think you are confused or maybe I misunderstand you. Vanir is AOSP and while AOKP may share many hardware repos I'm not sure I'd consider is CM based especially since the whole caf debacle. And by stock you mean based off LG ROM?
Many of the devs worked tirelessly together to bring these to fruition at the same time. I dont think any one dev or team can take credit.

There are actually 4 American models. Sprint currently doesn't have their section yet. It's just the sad way things are done over here. Carriers like to lock in their customers and each tends to offer a slightly different variant. Whether that be the slight difference in physical look or the type of radios included for a GSM or CDMA carrier, American carriers like to limit customer options.

Hi everyone,
I wonder if there any plans to support ATT version of Galaxy Note ?
all recent updates are minor and I don't have any hope that CM10.2 (not even mentioning CM11) will be ported to it which is kind of sad.
I understand that there are some issues with stability and drivers. Does that mean I need to get other hardware to continue using CM ?
Due to all those problems I switched back to stock image and not happy with it, but it is damn stable ((
Thanks for any update from the team.

so what i am reading here is you have 6 posts. i understand that you cannot post in development yet, but that does not slow you from reading.
i am not a technical brainchild and lack the ability to understand some of the terminology, so you will have to give me a little leeway.
development may have appeared to have slowed, but take into consideration the age of our device and the rate manufacturers are producing devices. we may not ever get another official upgrade for our Note, but my phone has ran better in the last few months than previous 8 months. there are some brilliant folks out there working selflessly for us. you may not find much in the straight CM development department, but since release of 10.2/ 4.3 roms, it is much more stable than 4.2 ever was. it runs smooth and effortless with none of the random reboots which plagued 4.2.
now we have quickly bumped to the 4.4 development which is still in its infancy. give it time. there are 2 Alpha/Preview releases right now, with at least another in the works that i know of. my guess is someone will have a Beta or full release by the end of the week at the rate these guys go. cant hold me to it as i am just a recipient who benefits from their deeds. that's just my guess from what i see as far as their work pace.
so excuse me now, i have to put some Kit Kat 4.4 on my phone, which has only been approval to run official 4.1.2 JB.
i am sure this is going to prove to be a good conversation starter here. thank you

I'm sure there are brilliant people in CM team and they are doing amazing job, this is doubtless.
This is the only reason I'm trying to get back to CM world and get any word on further development.
My only source of information on the releases are:
http://10.1.cmxlog.com/?device=quincyatt
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/hudson/blob/master/cm-build-targets
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=quincyatt&type=
and xda of course
First three show very little progress on this particular device. I'm not complaining, but just trying to understand current state of I717 support.
In comparison with I717 twin - N9000, we get less updates.
I saw 10.2 builds in XDA forum threads, but I consider them as unofficial builds, and I know nothing about them, how well they are performing, etc. I will try them for sure, thanks for pointing that out.
All my question is about is future support of this hardware, should I think about upgrade or just give up and use stock ...

as i said take the tour, take some roms for a test drive. i don't know what you consider your experience level is........
everything runs a bit different on everybodys phone. for example, the Carbon rom has lots of cool features, but it just doesn't seem to want to work on my phone. i just don't want you to label all roms on the basis of one. Hellybean runs great on my phone. there are some here that wont give a phone or rom time to settle in. they make so many tweaks and adjustments in a rapid amount of time, they don't know if there adjustments actually did anything.
so be patient......if its not compatible for your phone, you will probably know right away. if it works, give it some time. there are good and helpful people here. just try and help yourself first and read.
getting ready to slam some Kit Kat on my phone right now with Jaime's CM11 preview 4.
As cyanogenmod seems to have dropped us for 10.2, we are unlikely to see official CM11 support. Our hope for further development lies in unofficial builds from Jamie and Patch who have been kind enough to build from source and share their talents with us.
Normally, I would accept that, at some point, you have to stop beating a dead horse. It's unrealistic to expect a 2 year old device to be supported with the latest and greatest - especially in an environment like Android which seems to have such a quick cycle.
The alpha builds, however, have proven to be more stable on my device than anything 4.2 or 4.3. My question is whether or not we will see some important functionality (like TTS and video camera) restored on OUR device if it is not being supported by CM officially?

Personally, I'm loving the AOSP feel of 4.4 in a way that I have never really cared for it in Android versions prior. The way Google now is integrated into the GEL is how I would use Nova Launcher to setup previous versions.
With it's super stability, I am really praying that you give us something akin to your Nexus or Evervolv roms...Hell if we can just get working TTS and Video camera on top of what you've given us with your alpha, I'm done...............

We may not have the quantity of devs for other devices, but we definitely have quality devs. I also have GTab 2, and LG Optimus and Galaxy S2 LTE, which I manage for my family. Some have very active devs, some don't, but they all have good devs.
I don't know what you mean by "enough attention from developers", but we are getting plenty from our devs even if we don't deserve them. Whatever we are getting beyond the official 4.1.2 is all gravy. Jamie's CM11 preview is running awesome, and I haven't tried Patch's 4.4 rom, but I expect the same.
