Simply amazing - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

im just gonna give a shout out to my new best friend The samsung galaxy note 2. i just put this phone through as much as i know how to put it through and it passed with flying colors. started with 86% battery. skyped girlfriend on lte (from the phone) for 2 hours while in multi view playing games while surfing the web (tethered to the phone) from desktop. when done i had 49% battery left and the phone is barely warm. It never lagged or anything.
This thing is a beast. i did half of that with my last phone and the battery would get way too hot and give me the overheat led blink. :good::good::good::good::good:

im sure some of you can tax one more than that but if it can hold up to that i cant ask for much more.

My Personal Cheap Extended Battery Review

I was a bit cocky after my case swap last week. So me being my cheap self went on ebay this week and bought an extended battery. Here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190138594210&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=009
Battery came 5 days later. Black door.... Non rounded and boxy... I dealt with it on my 8125 so i didnt mind. At first i wasnt impressed cause im like wtf.. where is my self portrait mirror. Im assuming it came off during shipping... I could have been anal about it but i had some locktite super glue and put it back on... looks like new.. I did my battery door "Missing Antenna Plug" door mod as i suggested in another post =P. I took my old battery door off and took the battery out... good by slim and hello brick.... new battery fit in fine ... new door snapped in fine... Now for the test drive. It arrived with about a 60% charge. I drained leaving wifi on and streaming music from pc... took a long ass time. I charged it with the 1A stock charger... took a while but it eventually charged in a little less than three hours while off. I work 8 hr shifts at night so im on my phone alot my stock battery normally gets me to about 40% during the night. Thats playing music, Surfing on EDGE with two maybe three bars... Trust me its struggling to get that many. So i know the antenna is using alotta juice. I have it checking hotmail every 15 Minutes. I text about 400 messages a night and i use TomTom to dodge traffic the morning after work with full brightness and bluetooth on... I put in this battery i made it through my shift under the same senario and made it to 90% im thinking the battery maybe is misreporting and its going to drop off to 0 or not even make it to it before it cuts off like when i bought a cheap extended battery for my 8125 (replaced with same brand and worked fine) I streamed mobitv for about two hours on the way home from work over 3G. And it dropped to 70%. Im like the damn thing wont die. I cranked up the wifi and turned on mobitv thinking this will seal its fate. How about it took 7 hours to kill it from that point. I didnt evaluate any talk time on it cause of my hours and no one called but to me thats impressive... I would think if i didnt try to kill it on purpose it would have game me close to a 3 days of runtime. Its a 3.7v 2800mAh Lithium Ion made in Taiwan by Celxpert Energy. Any disatisfied people please post their experience with their extended battery.
whoa! nice! i think i may have to buy me one of those thank you for your review and the extreme testing hehe
I am going to more testing in the next few days. Ill be sure to keep everyone intrested posted. I really think under normal piddling around and texting and listening to music over bluetooth if i only made it to 90% on the first day. I could prob very easy get more than my projected 3 days. Its the morning of the seconday im sitting at 90% again. Most of my drain is at work. And if im actually working really hard.. Im more likely in an area where its searching for signal that was my main drain but my on its first day I cant say that i held back any i gave it hell during my shift on the way home and killing it just for the hell of it to deep cycle the battery. It doesnt get warm during charging or during use. I would assume it pretty solid... The next few days will tell.
price is really good, even better than the $26.99 (includ ship) I paid for a 3000mAh. The back door is black not silver/grey though.
I upgrade my 8525 case to a dopod replacement. My phone is completely black so the black battery door was what the doctor ordered.
Yesterday i got off work at 90%. It was probably actually low 80s because it hit 80 an hour or so after getting home. Today i got off work im at 60%. I had 2 calls totaling 58 minutes... and did some light browsing on EDGE.Bluetooth has been on since the full charge yesterday. And it has been checking hotmail every 15 minutes. I think its probably been hunting for a signal I have full 3G at home and 2-3 bars EDGE at work if i carry it in my shirt pocket. If im carrying in my case on my hip its prob searching for service under the gut. but Ive never been able to get two days with stock. The test continues..
I dont see how people can carry a brick that big
Day three down to 20% did the usual surfing 2-3 bars weak reception on EDGE. Bluetooth has been on since first day. One call today 35 min. TomTom 6 for about 5 hours today... Alot of city driving. Bought the audio dongle so ive been playing music in my car so tack on about 4 hours of that. and you have an almost dead battery. Discharge has even out. Its pretty steady.. no sudden drops in percentage like some other cheaper batteries. It has my my thumb and two big toes up!
Very tempting to try it. Though, my problem is that I have a Brodit car charger and of course it won't fit with the extra bulk.

[Q] Vibrant Experience

I have a few question about your experience with the vibrant. What made you choose this phone? Do you like it so far? Do you like this over ther other Galaxy series phones?
I like the look of the Captivate better, but not the feel in my hand. Also this can work on ATT or T-mo networks, Captivate cannot. Epic is full of cool, and is enormous and has a worse battery life.
My complaints with the vibrant are the same as I would have with any Galaxy S phone.

Love the huge and gorgeous display. The phone is amazingly fast with the correct rom+kernel+configuration and it works exactly as advertised.
The major thing for me was the screen which i like to watch movies or tv shows in landscape view when away from home.
Very satisfied with the phone overall and worth the money.

thanks for the feedback, glad to hea you enjoy it. How's the battery life on it?
The battery life could be better, but isn't the worst. I leave the phone unplugged before I go to sleep at night (around 11pm) and it'll usually last until 9-10pm the next night. I send a few dozen texts and emails, make a dozen calls, a few google searches and a little bit of random useage. It lasts longer than the battery on my old G1 and Cliq, which I usually had to turn 3G off to get it through a full work day. On the Vibrant, I don't change a thing and it lasts all day, though rarely into the next day.
When I'm on it non-stop, playing games and searching the internet, it'll last 3-4 hours tops. Not too bad considering the large screen and load on the processor.

You should try Setting Profiles [it's in the market .... theres a lite version too] for when you go to sleep....here's what I do:
CONDITIONS:
1200AM-0600AM
Screen Off
Battery Discharging
Schedule 15/17 [makes it turn off airplane mode for 2 minutes every 17 minutes ... In case there is an urgent voicemail or something].
ACTIONS:
Activate Airplane Mode
It's done wonders for my battery life & if I'm actively using the phone [screen is on], it turns airplane mode off, so the phone is usable.
Doing this, you might be able to squeeze a little bit more out of it

[Q] How long does your battery last?

how long dos your battery last WITH THE SCREEN ON with and without 4g poll
I can't tell you the time without, but I can say 4+ hours with. Wifi/GPS etc. turned off however.
I can get away with charging it every second day with light use.
Now THAT IS an interesting question. Gonna try this next day off rofl.
xD
well reading over all these battery threads they brag nonstop about godlike battery life i highly doubt them and because of their incessant bragging over 2 days of battery doing blah blah people assume something is wrong with their battery. i highly invite them to take this poll and see their actual screen on time they guess that they played for 15 - 30 mins when it was only ten or so , this poll ought to straighten things out so we actually know wether these battery issues are normal for everyone.
This pool is a bit too restricting. There are other things that impact battery life... like screen brightness and haptic feedback to name two.
I can say My phone lasts, every day, from 9am to 2am with moderate use, about 4 hours screen on.
I cant turn off 4g, but on my phone I get 24hrs use with 5hrs screen time with Wifi on 7-8hrs. I use autobrightness, have next to no widgets, and a static wallpaper.
The reviews I have seen make it seem like the battery life should be much better though.
Sent from my Atrix
As the lady said in Full Metal Jacket, "Me love you long time."
In all honesty I'm a little disappointed with the battery life on my Atrix. I pretty much bought this phone as a replacement over my iPhone 3GS, because the battery would barley last 2 days with little to no use, but I can't say the Atrix provides much improvement either. With minimal use I'd get around 2 days of battery with my Atrix. Today I charged my phone at 7:30PM and with little use (maybe 20min in total) the battery is at 80% after 10 hours. Either this is normal or mine is faulty, cause the area around near the main front buttons and where the Moto blur logo is on the back constantly gets warm during normal use. I've had the phone for a little over a week now, so if I'm the only one having these issues then maybe I should go to a Bell store and exchange it for a new one.

Crappy battery life?

Anyone else experience really crap battery life. I have had this phone barely over a year and now it is down to about 3 to 4 hours of of texting and snap chat and then it is nearly dead. Today it used 30% in an hour and a half. i send 5 texts and 3 snap chats. I am starting to believe the flag ship phones are BS. I do not think I will invest in high end after this. My iPhone SE work phone granted it is a small budget POS and an iPhone but I i leave that that thing off the charger for days at a time and even with all day usage it does not get below 50%.
My next phone all I need is a good camera and ram to load things quicker and a monster battery. Phones like moto G and E and some of the lower end LG and Samsung phones are starting to look more appealing.
I would switch out the battery for a larger but I do not want to change phone backs. The phone is already a giant brink in my pocket, do they make a GOOD higher mah battery that fits the same cover?
My battery life sucks also. I've had the phone about 2 years now and I'm lucky if I can get 5 hours of standby power. and yes I use greenify and Doze. if I use the phone for anything like calls or pictures or surfing, forget it, I'm down to two hours time. Luckilly I keep it plugged in whenever possible.
Ditto. I like this phone ok, but the battery life is terrible. I don't even use it that much during the day, but it won't even make it an entire day without charging. And no root sucks.
If you turn off all the crap that auto-runs, including location when not needed, things will improve greatly. But, you need root to do these things.
yeah, this thing has totally crappy battery life. I am an uber and amazon flex driver, so I use my phone all day, every day. The only reason it doesn't die constantly is I have a charging cable hooked up for it next to my car mount and it gets plugged in every time it is on my dash. Even still, I have to plug it in over night or it will be dead as hell in the morning. I actually have 2 extra batteries for it, but can't use them much because I have no way to charge them outside of the phone, so they are always low. I did just order a chrger base for it that charges my phone and an extra battery at the same time, so hopefully that will help, but this phone is really useless without extra batteries. As a side note, my girl has a cheap cricket lg, also, and hers just barely makes it through the day as well. it hits the low battery warning on her every single night and she only uses it after work. so she gets like 9 hours standby and 2-3 hours use... I kinda think lg just sucks at picking a battery size for their phones or batteries just need a new leap forward...

Battery Charging habits

Hello Group,
At what battery drainage amount to you connect your LGV30 to a charger?? I got mine last weekend and to me the charge is decent but not great for being new at least to what I have been used to.
I use the charge cable that came in the LGV30 box and I also use my daughters wireless charger that she got for her Samsung Galaxy 8 since she doesn't use it and they both work great.
I generally charge it when it gets around 50-60% I dont know why but I cant stand my phone to ever get low even though certainly it will at times
Thanks, Jake

Are you talking about the speed of charge? For me the battery is so good I don't even look at it. At the end of the day, I put it on my slow wireless charger, and take it off in the morning when I go to work. Can't remember the last time I used the wired charger that came with the phone, but I thought it was super fast.
I normally plug in around 3%. Even though I know that's a bit low.
Here's todays battery usage.
I've been leaving high accuracy GPS on which is why my battery drains so quickly...
But I used my phone to stream music all night at work with GPM.

Hey Group,
Good news, well I took my phone back to AT&T (they suck) and trying to explain that there is something wrong with the battery on a 1 week old new phone with one of the mindless helpers there is like trying to pick the correct 6 numbers on a lottery ticket.
I could tell pretty much as soon I I had brought it home (the bad one) but I decide to wait a week and give it time to see it get better even did the Oreo update. So anyway the young lady tells me that its me and I must have to many apps working in the background, I tell her, thanks but I dont have anymore then I always run and I basically use it for social media and some web surfing and I rarely do any games on it as I am a hard core computer gamer.
She again tells me that OH! you must have to many apps running in the background, I'm like (sigh) so I explained what I had just typed and so we go back and forth and she did not stop telling me about the apps in the background. I was going to get the Galaxy s9+ because I didnt want to deal with these jokers anymore but I decided to stick with my LGV30.
So now she tells me that the manager says I can just swap it out for another one if it passes their battery diagnostic test first, I said WHAT? so again I tell her from last night until this morning (about 5 hrs) when not being used it dropped almost 30% charge.
and of course it failed their "State of the Art" diagnostic test so I had to fork over another $45.oo to complete the deal but these phone is doing great.....theres more but this is the short version! btw, ATT&T is the DEVIL

Actually it's Verizon, but postpaid AT&T is close second.
I try to never fully charge or discharge. High of 80-90% ... low of 20% or so ....
Best battery life I've had so far on a phone.
