Never been on a locked down device before. What does this mean?

Nice, I was actually looking for it last night but only found the ICS files

I had emailed Samsung a few days ago asking when the JB image would be up since ICS was the one showing. I got a reply with a link saying it was available late last night. I posted it in the Rooting thread earlier this morning.

I also emailed Samsung and asked about the source code, bootloader and told them how unhappy I was that they let Verizon lock the bootloader, when the other 3 major carriers didn't do that.. they responded the same BS, "sorry you are unhappy about the bootloader, here is the source image, as for the bootloader.contact Verizon"
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2

Figures they would pawn it off on Verizon for us to contact, that will never happen. From what I am reading though it seems Adam is pretty close or has achieved it so Verizon is of little concern.

Means pretty much nothing until we can flash boot/recovery, but they have to post it anyway to comply with the open source licenses of a few things on the phone.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 64GB version...

I haven't heard any news on the 64gb version of the s3 yet. Even though it was announced on the press conference. I've even googled it and haven't found any information. So when approximately will it be released? Any news about it?

That's a thread about someone hijacking someone's ebay account and putting a 64gb s3 for sale. The guy then took it off soon after. So that's not real or useful information.

And it answers the question that theres no info about the SGS3 64GB version.. if you cant find it on xda then it doesnt exist.
When, in your opinion, will that information start existing? Any approximation? A week, a month, more?

No, it's NOT. Why are you asking the same question twice?? They clearly stated during the survey that not having registration already = no preview at this time.

For all those our there that remained Stock Rooted [Locked Bootloader] that have tried to flash the new JB update but get Andy or other errors.
Make sure your running the Stock Build.prop, and no apps are frozen

Would it really kill them to post the update to their site when they release it to OTA? Minor league Asus, as usual.

Noob questions - can you please provide more explanation or steps? Mine is rooted and upgrade failed with Andy. What do you mean by apps are frozen?
Mine tried to update and failed ( I forgot to unroot prior so I am hoping that is what it was since nothing else was changed ). After it failed I unrooted and tried to update again but now it is saying there is no update.

Some people had been suffering for 10 months because a POS company ASUS can't make a product right. THey charge us 500 dollars for the crappiest product in the history of electronics. Now they can't even make a right OTA? I would love to see a company like this go out of business. There should be class action lawsuit against asus. I really hope asus goes bankrupt and saves future customers from this misery.

This is a good question. I checked out their site in preparation for when they post the update. Not shockingly, there are "instructions" of how to install the update, except the "instructions" don't actually tell you how to do it! What crap. To prove my point, here are their "instructions" for the last firmware update. It looks like the steps to install the update stop after telling you how to check your current version. Thanks, Asus!
Steps of Update:
1. Check SW version of your Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201*
2. Download Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 Firmware: V9.4.2.28 Only for WW SKU and Update version of SOP (From “Manual” Item)
※Firmware update cannot do *SKU conversion* and downgrade version.
Wrong SKU may cause update failure, You can only update your SW version on the Same SKU
*How to check SW version of your Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201?
Path: [Settings]-->[About tablet]-->Build number
Example: You should be able to see the build number WW_epad-9.X.X.X_2012xxxx, where “WW” means SKU.

The OTA has been rolling out for all of 12 hrs at best. They are required to release SOURCE CODE not an update file. I had the update failed to download message and it has since downloaded. As it turns out a lot of people were trying to download at the same time. Weird I know.

From Wikipedia " Asus - world's fifth-largest PC vendor by 2011 unit sales" so do you reckon they're going to go bankrupt because they shafted us by selling a defective product?? Somehow I doubt it

Or maybe, just to put a sinister take on things, they are going to use peoples OTA experiences as guinea pigs to see if they've got it right this time, unlike previous versions they have put on their site that don't work properly LOL :fingers-crossed:

For all having the failed attempt at OTA update this is what I did to fix it.
I did 1 hard reset (Turn off prime, remove charger, hold down volume key and then power on to do a cold/hard reset, followed by going to application manager and clearing cache for "DMClien" and then I checked for update and it downloaded successfully.
It worked for me.

edit: oh no, it only downloaded! got the red andy
edit 2: Did some digging. You can find the file "last_log" in /cache/recovery and it can give you an idea of what went wrong. In my install, it aborted because keyboard.apk was modified (keyboard multi-browser mod in dev section). just restored this, will see if i can force the update again.
...
was able to force the update again by copying dlpkgfile and the echo command. it's updating now
...
3 hours after my first try and I'm finally on Jelly bean!!!

The dlpkgfile is posted by another user in that thread. I downloaded it and followed the method posted. All went perfectly.
Why do the users have to go through so much trouble just to get an OTA to work? Why? Asus, I hope you burn in hell. The schittiest company to have existed on planet. Can they not do one thing right? I mean so much trouble and hacking just to get an OTA to work? F U asus. All the engineers involved in Prime and this project should be stoned to death.

towelroot.com question....

Hi. I donated to geohot on towelroot.com and never received a link to the root. I received a thank you email but nothing else. How can I obtain the root? I have a Galaxy S5 build dated May 2014. Long story short, two weeks after I bought the phone, I thought it was stolen. Well four years later I found it. If you can believe that one. Thank you,
Crysta

The download failed three times. The problem is I reported the phone stolen three years ago and when I found it recently, I called ATT to get it off the black list. They refused because apparently, my ex-best friend who shared the ATT plan with me did not pay the last bill, didn't tell me and they won't take it off the blacklist. I was afraid the root wouldn't work because of this. The bummer part is I would run out and buy another phone if I could. My Daughter was bit by a tick and contracted Lyme Disease, Babesia, and bartonella and is fighting for her life and if anyone knows about Lyme Disease, they know all treatment comes out of pocket. I sold our home to pay for her 5 year treatment and every penny has gone to trying to get her well. I thank you, my friend, for taking the time to answer my question. Have a good day.

Okay, so now it's in the "Manufacturer Development" stage. Has anyone followed these (or have inside knowledge) enough to know how long, roughly, the timeframe of these stages take?
No idea here ... but I do know they only recently added the V30 to the Oreo list .... when it was clearly out for months in Korea.
So I wouldnt gamble on a timeframe for release - just that we will get it sometime.

Mind you even as a new device and updates in korea nothing was listed as it being able to be updated on the tmobile support page.
When I asked a customer service rep about it the said "we get our info from the manufacture"
At this point it will be my last ever phone purchased thru t-mobile. Not that they care about original customers at all. They are more interested in snagging people from the other 3 carriers.

What's funny about the whole thing is that Phone Arena posted a story on April 7th by a different writer with the same Twitter conversation and it showed the dates of the conversation on Twitter. It proves that they are just regurgitating old stores and spinning them for clicks which is a big fat fail in my book. It also seems they are biased against T-mobile from looking through some of their other stuff.
What's sad is that Android Authority cited Phone Arena's story. That is another failure. Tech blogs are just copying each other's stories instead actually giving us useful information. I called Phone Arena and Android Authority out on the lack of actually checking stories and their failure to post legitimate news, not that they will fo anything about it.
I know now who not to trust for phone information and these losers top the list.
