Anybody else have the opportunity to try this new SwiftKey out?
Super cool and pretty..
Just installed and it is more lagged than SwiftKey 3 was.. Surely slower than the JB keyboard..
The thing I liked most about 3 was that it seemed real responsive...
OF course i understand it is still beta..
Okay update:
*I don't work for SwiftKey or anything Btw.
But I made SwiftKey A system app and did a reboot. Now **** is moving smooth..
Love it. Very close call with the Android 4.2 keyboard.. Love them both..

Never had to convert it to a system app, it is smooth and fast enough for me. I'm loving this keyboard! I will for sure be purchasing when it gets an official release. I haven't used swype in a long time but this feels much better.

It's okay, I don't know swype is still best at what it does. All swift key needs is multiple options to pick from, it only gives you one option.

Hey guys I just got me new note! I noticed that it feels substantially different using simple applications, typing, moving around, etc. Obviously it's going to be different given the size of the phone so I don't have a problem with it! My question is, what applications/downloads are you guys using to help make the whole experience of using a phone of this size more comfortable for you? Are you using a different keyboard, different launcher, different application, etc. I'm curious to know!
I'm picking mine up in a few hours so I'll report back but I do plan on loading Thumb Keyboard asap. It made thumb typing on the HTC View quick and comfortable so I'm assuming it'll be a nice addition to the Note.
A.I.keyboard is a must

AI Keyboard is ok but Swype keyboard with the phone is pretty good.

Oh yeah get Juice Defender. Can't go wrong with losing 1% an hour on standby! 5 hours screen time! I set my settings on Aggressive.
Thanks for the tips guys! I'm using the thumb keyboard right now and wow I didn't expect this phone to take this long to get used to. Not a bad thing I'm really enjoying it

I bought a lot of keyboards when they were having the christmas 10 cents deals, and after trying all of them, the A.I keyboard is the best....
I'm using GO Launcher EX and Swype

The only things I've done is the DAG kernel, CWM, and the Saurom mod. I've been extremely pleased. I'm still using the stock swype keyboard (I tried the SlideIT keyboard but prefer swype). Using the Saurom rom mod with overclocking (i'm stable at 1.83ghz) things are incredibly smooth and totally worth the upgrade.
I would like to recommend a nice keyboard replacement for the Note.

I had actually purchased this keyboard for a Dell Streak 7 I owned. I sold the Streak and had forgotten about this great keyboard until I was going through my email's and ran across the link / activation from where I had purchased it.
Anyway long story short, the version is now up to 4.5, it's skinnable and has many free skins to choose from. Also hand writing recognition like Samsung's keyboard. You can also set your own landscape / portrait layouts as well.
There is a 15 day free trial to see if it suits you, just thought I might recommend this, my old activation key worked with the newest version, if any of you guys have used it on previous devices your license will transfer fine.
Try it out and leave your comments here.
You like it better than swype?

Nope!

I do but then again that's just me, if you look at the memory footprint it uses less than swype, has as many features and seems faster, but then again, my opinions are my own, just sharing knowledge I find.

I like the spacebar being offset to the right so i dont type.and.hit.the.period.button.all.the.time.
I've tried this as well as SwiftKey as alternatives to Swype. So far, Swype is still my #1.

+1 Swype is still best. Swift is a good alternative to a stock keyboard, but not close to Swype in my opinion.

Used this for a while on my Captivate. It was slow compared to Swype so I haven't touched it again.

I to have grown fond of Swype, so fast and fluid.
I type really fast and I can't find a keyboard that keeps up with me. I've tried swift key, as well as 5 other apps. Its weird because swift key keeps up with me on my dads evo 3d. Is this screen just not as responsive or something?

I've been using smart keyboard by dexilog since i got my phone. You can try it out if you haven't already. As for the screen, i haven't had any issues typing so far. Besides that you may want to look into the new swiftkey beta thats been out for a while and see if that makes a difference.
Honestly I have noticed the same thing. It seems to hang no matter which keyboard I use. Definitely can't type as quick as I did on my iPhone. Try clearing up RAM. Seems to help out a lot. Background processes can affectively the performance of the aftermarket keyboards.

Affect* Damn autocorrect. Haha.

You can try disabling haptic feedback. It helps quite a bit on keyboards.
Try latest swiftkey... Very very impressed with it.!!
Sent Via XT910..
Dumb question, but your phone came with Swype...have you tried it? Once you make friends with that method, it's insanely fast.
Its pretty sweet if you ask me. Might even become my daily browser. There are various bugs considering its a beta
Amaze 4G ENERGY ICS
I started using it and ditched it cuz it was so buggy and lacked customization. I couldn't even change the settings I wanted to. Switched back to Dolphin HD.
I been u sing it as my default browser on my galaxy note and transformer tablet for about a month now.
Was using opera mobile as default for months and it was awesome. But Chrome has quickly become my favorite android browser now...its very smooth and works really well. Not to mention very fast as well. It works good on a big enough screen but on smaller screen like my nexus s I still prefer opera for some reason.
Anyway. Yeah considering its still classed as beta it is an excellent browser.

This is a little of topic but many of us use swiftkey and i thought this will interesting for some us... SwiftKey flow beta is going to be out in less than 24hrs on the swiftkey page

Got an email last week concerning flow, does that mean I should be checking my inbox?

I got the email sometime last night. Works great for the most part. Freezes at long sentence a lot though and just stops trying to make it out. Like all of a sudden "I GIVE UP!" but it's a beta can't hassle it too much.
Very nice. I'm already ready to ditch Swype

I am loving this so far. Swiftkey has always been great but this makes them almost untouchable now. I wonder who will buy them up now.
P .S. I don't know how long the sentences have to be to make it lock up but I wrote this whole thing in flow and it seems to be doing it just fine.

Not one lockup here
Took me about 30 tries to download the language pack, and but finally got it. I like it so far.

Been rocking it for about half the day and it is pretty cool keyboard. I like how you can pick different themes and the flow input is pretty cool looking

Been using swift key a long time, definitely like flow.. But it isn't as good as swype "used" to be. Flow struggles with a lot of words that have back to back same letters like "kiss".. It also struggles swiping words I added to my dictionary.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I hate that in flow mode you can't swipe backwards to delete the previous word or swipe downward to hide the keyboard.
I think SwiftKey is fine the way it is without flow, I'm just way faster and more accurate at tapping. If you are using two thumbs then you can tap letters on the far left of the keyboard, then far right, and far left again very quickly (like typing "mama" = taptaptaptap) and with flow you have to travel the length of the keyboard three times.
Anyway that's my 2¢, I'm using the SwiftKey Beta but I have that flow sh*t turned off.
Sent from my EVO
I'm also using SwiftKey minus the flow. Not a big fan of swiping, because my thumbs are so big I can't really see where in at on the keyboard. The keyboard itself is really nice though, prediction and auto correct are really good too.
