A.just reflash it and the error will go away on its own
I went through the steps and now phone is off and wont turn on. When connected QHSUSB_DLOAD in device manager.
Do we need to have the QHSUSB_DLOAD drivers for this exploit to work?
Thanks ahead of time.
EDIT: Did a battery pull and started over from begining. We now have S-Off!!!!! Failed to install CWM but I will install TWRP
Does Amon Recovery work? If so, can we get instructions for that? If not, instructions for CWM.
Thanks,
Mike
Oh okay, I failed.
When I did that it just came up with a list of commands
If your phone wont turn on you probably dont have your fastboot drivers installed. Do that first
AS for amon RA recovery that hasent been built for the shooter yet. If you want cmw just keep running the revolutionary application and it will ask if you want it to flash CMW

So that means that you should opt out of the CWM install and install TWRP after doing s-off? Would be nice if we had full instructions: including what to select/install during the revolutionary exe.

Exact same situation here.
Edit: Just saw the post above that CWM isn't working yet.
I flashed this through fastboot and it appeared to work. It won't boot into the recovery though. Are there some steps I'm missing?

Hello! Sorry for posting this here, Idk if this is the right area for this kind of thing but anyways lets get started!!
Im sorry if this had already been posted, I have searched the forums before to see If someone had found a solution while I was having the error!
Sorry for this, but I posted this already here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370478 So moderators will you please delete the above post! Thanks so much!
This has happened to me so many times, I got frustrated, then I tried this out of the blue and it seemed to work..
Some examples of ROMS that froze on boot on my HTC EVO 3D HBOOT 1.5
All Infected ROMS
MIUI
Synergy
Senseless ROM
CleanRom
and some others..
These are the steps I took to fix the issue!
1. Flash ROM and see if it freezes on boot, if it does start below
2. After flashing rom and confirming that it does freeze.. Boot into bootloader (Power+volume down key) and press the power button while highlighted over fastboot.
3. Plug in your device into PC or MAC
4. Make sure you have the latest android SDK, im pretty sure you do if you have been flashing roms!
5. EXTRACT the .zip file of the ROM that you are using that freezes.
6. Open the folder and copy the boot.img from that ROM
7. Paste that .img into the folder that has your adb and fastboot files for the Android SDK!
8. in terminal navigate to that folder, and do the following commands
PC:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Ive done it on the PC and most of the time I have issues.. like failing of transferring over of the boot.img.. So far I don't know a way around this besides to keep trying!!
MAC:
Code:
./fastboot flash boot boot.img
Ive done it on my mac as well, and so far I have had no errors! It works everytime.
9. After that reboot your phone..
10. Watch in awe as your phone should reboot and not freeze!

Your problem lies in your HBOOT 1.5.... you need to flash the kernel separately, either the way you described it, or I think theres an app called FlashGUI
or just access recovery from fastboot & flash like normal.
This should be moved

This.
Maybe OP doesn't know about it so I'll guide him.
OP, we appreciate you trying to help but if you follow the steps below you should have no problem.
1. Download the Rom you want and place it on your sd card.
2. Plug your phone in to your computer and open a cmd file where 'adb' is located and type "adb reboot bootloader".
3. Your phone will now restart and boot into bootloader. Now type in "fastboot boot recovery.img". Your phone will now boot into your recovery.
(At this point, you can unplug your phone.)
4. Use the recovery as how you normally would and wipe/flash, etc.
Enjoy.

Yes I do this, and I still have to do what I provided up above. Idk what is wrong with my phone.
Your recovery can't flash kernels. Hence the boot loop.
There is a program in the evo3d theme and apps forum for us 1.5 boot loader users to flash the kernel using an app in android then you reboot to recovery and flash rom.
The app is called flash image GUI

this worked for me it was hanging at the htc white logo screen did this steps and the phone passed the first boot logo and it turned on fine!!!
That's due to not flashin a kernel right or you skipped a part of the wipe.
Virus has this guide for flashing the kernel on his page
The problem with using this "Flash Image GUI" is the FACT that if an individual can't boot a ROM, they obviously can't run the apk.
Individuals with HBOOT 1.5 have two choices in this situation (bootloop)...
Either
1. "adb reboot bootloader" after which you run "fastboot boot recovery.img" (recovery.img must be placed in fastboot directory), then you flash the ROM/kernel in question...
Or
2. Flash boot.img through fastboot (which is what the above "should" do in the fist place).
BTW: If you always have a problem with bootloops, you aren't loading recovery the way you should...
You can either run the commands mentioned earlier in this post, or go to
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.pho?t=1403148
and download the batch in the second post "jthein1989_batch.zip" (you will still need to download and copy the recovery.img to the folder).
Just download twrp or clockwork and copy it as "recovery.img" to the directory that you unzipped the batch to... Then, just follow the OP of my thread...

But you mean you can't select Recorery from Hboot menu? Even if you installed twrp? I don't know much of what I'm doing only had 3d for week. but its locks up at white HTC screen all the time.
Or you could try...
Fastboot boot my kernel or ill kill you.img

With HBOOT 1.5 you "can" start recovery without ABD, but "S-ON" will not allow you to properly flash to the BOOT partition (limitation of the HTC unlock method). Therefore, users with HBOOT 1.5 need to go to extra lengths to flash the BOOT partition.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Having HBOOT 1.5, I've ran into this very problem. I'm not sure if it's hardware or what, but my phone will not run any Sense 3.5 ROM's I've tried. The phone just won't boot! I gave up trying 3.5 ROM's. I used ABD to put a 3.0 kernel back on and restore the recovery and everything is fine again. This will probably be my last HTC phone. Hoping something better besides the S2 is coming soon.
Hello,
Since my tf201 was getting really slowly I was thinking of putting a custom rom on it, since those are faster(?) than the stock rom. I found out that androwook is a pretty decent custom rom so I wanted to install it, only 1 problem. I have 0 knowledge of this 'Rooting, flashing, fastbooting..." The instructions on how to install it is useless to me. I managed to unblock it by using the asus tool, but thats as far as I got. I have absolutely no idea what to do now, is there any guide on this forum for noobs instead of experts of how to root and install custom roms?
Thanks

Be sure you are at the last stock jb rom, and then
0. Backup your data, and make a factory reset
1. Unlock device by executing the unlock app for TFP with WiFi on
2. Install TWRP
3. Install Hairy Recovery & Upgrade Bootloader
4. Install Hairybean 2.2
For step1 and step2, here is the ref

After installing TWRP, power off your TFP and power on with volumn down until you see a menu showing RCK, volume up to enter TWRP
Follow the instruction of HB after you boot into TWRP(step3 and step4)

after marking the token copy it by right clicking on the command window opened so after right clicking a dailouge box will appear so select edit>mark then select the token written and right click to select the token then visit htcdev.com singup first then select unlock bootloader at the right of the site select your device
htc amaze (t-mobile)or(mobilcity)or other then begin unlocking bootloader skip all steps goto step 10 and deposit your identifier token there and you will recieve
unlock_code bin in your email download it and place it in my toolkit>data folder then run the file unlockbootloader in my toolkit>data so this will ask a question on your phone's screen so select yes if you want to unlock or select no if you don't want to unlock bootloader
Code:
(note that when you select yes your all data would be deleted)
so now you are done unlocking bootloader now you can flash recovery and you can proceed to root.
GUIDE 2 : flashing custom recoveries..
first step>>connect your phone with pc using usb cable.

I WILL RECOMMEND TO FLASH 4EXT RECOVERY AFTER ROOTING AMAZE 4G WITH CWM RECOVERY BECAUSE IT
IS THE BEST RECOVERY AND WELL FEATURED!
TO FLASH 4EXT RECOVERY GO TO: AND FROM THERE DOWNLOAD 4EXT RECOVERY!
THEN YOU WILL GET 4EXT RECOVERY.ZIP SO SEND IT TO YOUR SD CARD THEN BOOT YOUR PHONE INTO BOOTLOADER USE THE
REBOOT INTO BOOTLOADER FILE FROM MY FILEKIT>DATA AFTER THAT NAVIGATE TO RECOVERY AND SELECT
4EXT RECOVERY.ZIP AFTER IT FLASHES SUCESSFULLY REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM OR REBOOT RECOVERY SO THEN
NEW RECOVERY WILL BE SEEN..
ALL GUIDES AND FILES ARE AVAILABILE IN THE ZIP..
EXCEPT 4EXT!
ALTHOUGH I HAD INCLUDED 4EXT RECOVERY IN THE FOLDER BUT IT IS NOT WORKING!
YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE 4EXT RECOVERY UPDATER APP AND YOU CAN FLASH LATEST RECOVERY FROM THAT APP AFTER ROOTING!
4EXT Recovery App
so first download the zip from here
unzip it and use the guides above to proceed! use 7zip or similar

Hi ..!

Very usefull post for unlocking bootloader
phone stuck at HTC logo
hey guys,
great guide, plain and simple
I have gotten to the point of rooting the phone, however when I install roms from sd card and reboot, the phone gets stuck at the htc logo with the white background. Am I missing something...After i install the super su and reboot, can I just install a rom, or do i need to update the kernel or install an update?
thanks in advance

Yes the problem is that you need to flash boot.img from bootloader or for easily flashing roms from recovery ,use 4ext recovery...
Just flash this recovery from an app at play store or xda named 4ext recovery control this will work only if phone is booting or if the phone is not booting so search 4ext recovery.img or .zip on xda and flash it in your current recovery and reboot your recovery...you would now be able to get in new recovery now before flashing roms you need to enable 4ext smart flash, which is available inside tools options in 4ext recovery once you had enabled smart flash start flashing roms and they would boot...but NOTE: when ever you are flashing roms always check that is 4ext smart flash enabled or not ,you need to enable it in order to boot new roms and always make an Nandroid backup...
Happy flashing and don't forget to hit thanks

And please tell me that you're currently on CWM recovery or anyother...
Well CWM recovery is included in the package so hoping you're on custom recovery..
The only solution for your problem is that your phone should be ICS 4.0.3 updated and you should have 4ext recovery with smart flash enabled...
Or other solution is perform S-OFF..which is very hard, because of the wire trick!

I assume that you are on ginger bread with old bootloader,so try CM7 or older roms that might work on your device, for flashing ICS and JB newer roms you will need to be on latest bootloader which you can get after updating your phone to ICS(official)..
if you are having unbranded HTC Amaze Ruby then you need to S-OFF or if you are having Branded i.e T-Mobile or any other just flash the RUU from boot loader....:victory:

Did you enabled smart flash inside tools options in 4ext recovery.?
Just Google s-off,you might find details about it.
And another solution is to try hasoons2000 toolkit for htc amaze and learn how to flash boot.img on bootloader..

ok, so I did all the above, I also installed an update:
You MUST flash the ICS firmware update when coming from a GINGERBREAD ROM before flashing Viper Amaze
Place the PH85IMG.zip in the root of your
EXTERNAL SDCARD and boot into bootloader
This will update your radio
to 1.15.550L.08D _30.80.550L. 16D
and HBOOT to 1.93.2222
I did the above, installed the Viper Amaze 1.7.2.3 official, and it worked!!!!

Hi I am new here but due to I am not able to post my questions over the dev thread thus I had no choice but to ask anyone here
My Xperia Sola
- unlocked bootloader (actually is there anyway to verify whether is already unlocked)
- rooted
- with CWM Touch v5.5.0.4
But I am still unable to flash the ROM and I don't understand for some steps like
I did download the ROM (cm11.0_pepper-ota-eng.root_Build.1) from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532230
1. extract boot.img from zip and flash them
- during extraction it will prompt some audio files and ask you wan to replace or not, what should I do?
- how to perform so called flash them? how to flash? from where?
2. reboot
3. boot into recovery
4. wipe data factory reset
5. format system partition
- unable to find this setting in CWM Touch v5.5.0.4
6. install zip
I tried just install from SD then choose flash the cm11.0_pepper-ota-eng.root_Build.1 but after rebooted, it is still the same Sola stock ROM
Anyone can assist on this? please T_T
is there anyone can help on this? ><

I have a feeling that you may able to flash boot.img using ADB with the proper commands. Flashtool is I guess used/created primarily Xperia Phones
Let me check if I can find it for you. But this will take a bit a while as I need to sort things here as preparation for our travel back to my country. I know you don't need to know about this but I hope you can wait

Try to download the link below. This is the software that you need.
http://minimal-adb-and-fastboot.software.informer.com/
OR the one from XDA( which I think has a better elaboration on how to use the software)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269
once you install, next put the boot.img in a folder
Try this first:
- click the boot.img once, as it highlights, press and hold SHIFT key and press right click on the mouse look for command prompt(I assume you are using WIN)
- then as the command prompt shows type this command:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
(before you flash it the boot.img name can be replaced or changed. For example you want to name it solacm11_boot.img that will be fine or would be better so the command prompt will see which file you are requesting)
Then hit ENTER
If the command prompt says WAITING DEVICE turn off your SOLA (can't remember if you should or should not plug your device yet but try both which ever will work) and enter into fastboot mode (VOL up + Power button)
If that doesn't work try this second one:
- in the same folder of boot.img, right click in the empty space of the folder where there is no file
- now locate for command prompt, if theres' no command prompt right click in the empty space again while pressing and holding SHIFT key if you see the command prompt then try to ENTER command
Last if all things fail, locate the one you downloaded MINIMAL ADB & FASTBOOT it will also bring you into a command prompt style(which I think it is ) but in a special way
Here,
-Enter the command
-if you see WAITING DEVICE put your device into fastboot mode plug and that should do the rest
Good Luck :fingers-crossed:
---------- Post added at 02:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:21 AM ----------
Don't worry about bricking that would be unlikely to happen cause I have played with my SOLA so many times with good and bad attempts of installing the ROM, so now I am very confident with installing custom ROM for SOLA XD XD XD XD XD. I think the only way that you will brick it is by installing wrong ROM for your device or BAD ROM.
1. extract boot.img from zip and flash them
- during extraction it will prompt some audio files and ask you wan to replace or not, what should I do?
- how to perform so called flash them? how to flash? from where?
For this, only open in 7zip or WinRAR and extract (drag&drop) only boot.img, that's enough.
2. Download Flashtool here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
When you install it, in folder c:\Flashtool\Drivers\ are drivers for phones, run Flashtool-drivers.exe and choose your device + on the bottom are fastboot and Flashboot drivers, tick them also.
3. Switch your phone off, run flashtool, hold VOLUME UP and connect phone to PC, you might see something like this
28/037/2013 10:37:43 - INFO - <- This level is successfully initialized
28/037/2013 10:37:43 - INFO - Flashtool Version 0.9.11.0 built on 2013-06-04 22:50:00
28/037/2013 10:37:48 - INFO - Device disconnected
28/038/2013 10:38:05 - INFO - Device connected in fastboot mode
If your LED remain purple, you are ok, if not reboot your PC and try connect again.
If this is sorted, unplug your phone.
4. Then click on the FLASH in flashtool, and choose fastboot. Click on Select Kernel to flash, then navigate to the folder that you extracted the boot.img and hit it.
5. When done, take just about 2 seconds, unplug your phone and start, go to directly to cwm by keep pressing VOLUME DOWN.
Do factory/data reset, wipe cache, in advanced you'll find wipe dalvik and then go to mounts and storage, there is format system.
Flash the zip, flash gapps, after again wipe cache, dalvik and factory reset. Reboot and you are done.
backup rom
So if you want to make it easier to download my backup and do a restore from cwm ..
then after that do a wipe data / factory reset.

Try in CWM, and follow your step but "couldn't open the directory. No file found" regardless I transfered the file(backup cm11 ledywhite.zip) into the phone or extracted it as 2013-11-25.19.11.16( folder)
and tried restore from SD or advanced restore from SD also not working
is there anything wrong?
Click to collapse
It needs to be extracted into sdcard\clockworkmod\2013-11-25.19.11.16
And then restore from sdcard(external)

OK, tried a few ways
1) firstly I tried in internal SD\clockworkmod\2013-11-25.19.11.16(or change the folder name to backup), not working
2) then transfered to the External SD card, sdcard\clockworkmod\2013-11-25.19.11.16(or change the folder name to backup) also not working
I have no idea what happened, what is ur CWM version?
Mine is CWM Touch v5.5.0.4
Where could I get the the version that you are using now?
