[Q] Trying to install Eclipse - Motorola Droid X2

Had 2.3.5 .418 originally. sbf'd down to 2.3.4 .380. Rooted using Zergush cause cudnt find a working link for Petes one click method. So now i want to install eclipse, i tried to flash back to 2.3.5 .418, but since Zergush deleted google maps, the flash failed. Installed google maps & it still failed. What are my options?

Your best bet would be to sbf back to 2.3.4. Then update to 2.3.5. Then root using the magic md5 method. Flash Eclipse and enjoy.

I was hoping there was some kind of easy fix like remove the battery, make a wish, put it back, & there ya go. Thanks.

Well you could try that! Not sure how effective it would be, but it's worth a shot.

Or skip the extra step and just sbf to 2.3.5

How to root Gingerbread?

For those of is who are unable to sbf back to stock. Does gingerbreak work on ota Gingerbread or is there another app?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
No way to root gingerbread as off yet but as far as sbf back to stock its no problem even if already on, unrooted gingerbread. Just read the tutorials. From there you apply patched gingerbread update from p3droid to have rooted gingerbread, all instructions are in forum.

Thanks.. would I be able to boot into stock recovery and apply rooted update.zip over current unrooted Gingerbread?

No, need to sbf back to stock froyo then root with gingerbreak 1.2 , install the system recovery app. Then apply update in the system recovery after booting into its tells you how to when you open app. Make sure rename p3droids patched update to just " update.zip" and place its on root off sdcard. Go to development forum if need the instructions all there. The patched update is at "my droid world.com " everything else you need is in this forum somewhere. Just to let you know I also was on ota gingerbread was able to sbf and update to rooted, alot off us were but its all works easy.

One final clarification please ; ICS update\root...

From stock .173 if rooted ota will come in no problem and if I do temp unroot with voodoo , then after update I will have root available too restore through voodoo

Ok ok I apologize, I'm just super paranoid and want the ics update to go smoothly but want to retain my root and since no one had had the official ota yet want to make sure it will take and some strange root related file won't spoil my ice cream sandwich dreams, and I've been enjoying rooting and claiming and tweaking since my Eris days apologize for sounding like a noob , I'm just a paranoid veteran

You got. Just don't install a recovery and before you install any ota, temp un root. Then restore root after. Also unfreeze anything before and do not delete any system apps.
Thanks very much, that's what I thought just like to quadrupole check

So should I uninstall Bootstrap?
Yes to uninstall bootstrap. Separate thought; Motofail root method wouldn't create any ota blockers right no extra steps to take if used that method?

Cheesecake

While searching servers on cheesecake this evening, I stumbled upon an update from M3-x to M4-81. It was 370? Meg. Has this update been already discovered?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA
I think not. Did you get it?
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
No. I was afraid to download and install cause I really don't know a whole lot about cheesecake. I just like to check for updates and that was the first I've ever seen.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA
Downloading now...it's M4-31 not 81.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA
After download do not install immediately. Choose install later and get the ota file in cache dir.
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
another leak?
Well the download is suspended at 27% and can't get it to resume
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA
Anything on this download?
In my status bar it now says "download will start in Wi-Fi/Off-peak hour"......several reboots have still not allowed it to resume. Looks like I lost it? Any suggestions?

OK downloading again....downloading slow for some reason, but when it downloads, I'll check the OTA and reply back. Prolly not a new leak, but I'll keep my fingers crossed

You can get to any of the same SV updates as 6.14.84-6.16.211. Just flash 181 files for any of them, flash the boot.img from the update you want to go to, then flash the update in recovery to get there.
6.16.211 is 354 MB (371,242,782 bytes) btw. MD5 is 79A1EE4A992EACD1D08F98DEE5DEEBF7

Not sure about how to do all that. All the updates I've done, has Been OTA, RSD, or zips in recovery.
So I'm assuming once this OTA update is done, and select to install, it won't correctly do it, and I'll prolly be bricked right?

This update work on GSM RAZR XT910 with ICS 4.0.4. It's the sames step describes on the website:
1) **Make sure you are on ICS 4.0.4 AND ROOTED**
2) Plug in your Razr to your PC and move the "Blur_Version.6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip " file to your SD card.
3) Download OTA RootKeeper app from the Play Store. (or using option 3 in RazrUtility)
4) Open OTA RootKeeper and select "Restore Root". Then select "Temp. un-root". Then, once again, select "Restore Root", then select Temp Unroot.
5) Power into Recovery mode. Once you see the android with the red triangle, hold vol. up and vol. down buttons.
6) Select "apply update from SD Card">"Choose .zip from SD card"
7) Select the "Blur_Version.6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip " file and wait for it to finish. (This will take about 15 min).
8) Power on your Razr and open the OTA RootKeeper app.
9) Click "Restore Root"
10) Enjoy JB with root access
??????
Didn't update. It aborted itself because of an error.

In this thread "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2064074" you will find what you need. Matt's droid razr utility and root fixer. Your gonna need to reflash back to stock. Reroot. Backup root. Install jb. Restore root with fixer. Im sorry im not gonna sniff through the whole thread for the links of the programs. But they are in there

Well searching and following instructions go a long way. There are multiple threads with instructions on how to update. I know because I wrote one. First step is to fastboot back to stock 211 (assuming you're on 211 now.) That will get rid of safestrap.

Why not just flash the JB Kernel and an JB Custom Rom. In that case you can roll back to tge ICS Kernel and don't get in any kind of trouble with Root.

Well my main question that I meant to ask (which I guess I did t make it clear) was, does anybody have and news on jb for the DROID RAZR without flashing anything? Just a legit rom that I guess Motorola makes.

Oh you mean an actual OTA Update? After the accidental OTA, Moto supposedly said that it would be a few weeks before they push an ACTUAL release via OTA. So, with that said, according to Moto we should get an OTA before January is over with.
Thank you! I couldn't remember the letters ota for nothing! That's what I was really asking. Thank you for the information.

droid x2 custom rom

Ive been searching for a clear and concise how to for flashing the X2 rom i have the cm10 port and it fails something to the extent of wrong kernel
the X2 was givin to me so i dont know the history
The specs are as follows
system version 1.3.418.Mb870.verizon.en.us
Android Version 2.3.5
Baseband N_03.13.31P
Kernal version 2.6.32.9-00008
id read somewhere about having to sbf down to froyo before rooting is this the issue?
all roms are flashed on 2.3.4, with exception of eclipse, which is flashed on 2.3.5
flash back to 2.3.4, using sbf and rsd lite,
reroot, install bsr, install cm10
links to how to instructions, files, and videos in my list

this is how i sbf my phone to 2.3.4, it seems to be the easiest. just make an iso disk, restart your computer with the disk inside, sbf. heres the link http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x2-hacks/41697-tool-ezsbf-dx2.html , although i think it is the same link that shadow gave you. just making sure you saw the ez sbf disc option. good luck.
Your best bet would be to SBF and run a ROM like CM7 or Eclipse 2.3 or Liberty3 (most stable roms)

So..I rooted my phone on 2.3.5. If I SBF back to 2.3.4, can I use RootKeeper to get root back?? Or will that cause problems?
flashing a sbf rewrites all system files, there will be no rootkeeper backup

it's an automated call just press 1, when prompted.

you should just use ezSBF DX2 2.3.4
less likely to cause reactivation problems
