Hello to all..
So I was playing around with my Galaxy Camera and thought it would be nice to have the Android 4.2 Camera. So I extracted the apps and libs necessary to do it and guess what? It worked.

Results a tad disappointing
Thanks for this, I already had this on my Galaxy Note 2 and now just installed on the Camera.
The Sphere results are a bit disappointing though. I mounted the camera on a tripod and in a well lit room took the shots, but the final 'Sphere' image wasn't stiched all that well. Not the camera's fault though, maybe I will try something outside and see if it works better.
I think it's a gimmick that you might use once in a blue moon for fun but it's great that you shared this mod.

No, you don't lose anything, you get a extra camera app and extra gallery app. You are free to you the normal Samsung Camera app with all the GCam features or the Google Camera app with photo-sphere.

No it does not affect the original camera app. You just get another camera icon to select to use the 4.2 one. The default camera icon remains on your home screens. It's no different to installing another app off the Play store in essence.

Do you mean generally? If so a root explorer will suffice, or do you mean to make it the default camera? In which case yes or did you mean app permissions for security reasons? If you install Privacy Guard that will cover that too!! .... in fact what did you mean? lol

download from phone.
go to sd/download folder through astro or root explorer
copy/move miuicamera.apk from there to system/app/
and rebooting will make sure no bugs.

is there a option for this to save pictures on EXTERNAL SD CARD?

works great on CM10. swiping to zoom feature is pretty cool.
Tho im not sure of the Map's feature, But im assuming that its for pictures that have location stored on them, which i dont do normally.
Either way good share!

Actually you can, just clear defaults from the stock gallery by going to Settings>Apps, and then open a picture via whatever application (Camera, email attachment, file explorer) and it'll ask you in which app you want to view this picture, select Album and dont forget to check the box at the bottom that says Default

Another cool thing about the album app is that you can manually geotag photos. The coordinates are written to the file, something I have been looking for for awhile!

What message did you get? Problem parsing package? I believe the app is only compatible with ICS.

You shouldn't have to, but to be safe I would do a backup. And then use a root explorer to place the apk or adb push it to system/app

It is both the camera and the gallery. The camera icon is even different.

It's working now.
I have to removed the old gallery apk in system/app in order for the new camera to appeared (after re-boot). Now, I have two camera in my app drawer but they are not listed in my system/app (?). Also, Titanium backup did not see the new camera app as well.
Sphrere mode work but needed to modified build.prop though

My sphere mode was completely messed up, it wouldn't follow the accelerometer right. Did yours work?
Yes, mine is work after modified build.prop as follows:

ro.product.brand=google
Also, there is a new flashable file with missing lib files being added - perhaps you got the original file with missing lib?. Found it here
After opened the old camera app once, my sphere is now messed up with the accelerometer, like you've mentioned.

I've successfully used the sphere and the panorama function. Need more practice with both though. lol!

Try this courtesy of Android Police
After flashed. Go to your system/app and delete the old Gallery apk (there will be two Gallery apk) and reboot.

Yeah, tried flashing your file. Same result, I get a successful flash message. But when I go into the app drawer, the same gallery and camera apks are still there. I checked with titanium backup to see if I was missing the file and nothing. Same result in the system/apps.
I had to rename my camera.apk which was in my data folder and rename my gallery.apk in my system folder. I just rename them with *.back so I can restore later. Then flash and reboot.
So far working pretty well, sphere pics get a little screwy due to the gyro being a bit unstable. I like being able to take pics so fast like my wife's GNEX.

Weird. I'm on the same Rom as yours. Also, I have flash at least 4 version of the app since yesterday and they're all works. The file I've provided is the latest from Android Police which doesn't required a modified build.prop
After flash, you will not see any new app in app drawer or Titanium. You need to go into system/app, then delete or change the Gallery apk to Gallery.bak. There will be two Gallery in your system/app folder, one is Gallery apk and the other is GalleryGoogle - keep the GalleryGoogle and delete the Gallery apk. Reboot and check your app drawer, there will be 2 camera app in there with two different icon

! For those with device not supported, change the following lines in build.prop and reboot: (use build.prop editor from play store)

Tested and it works, the viewing of the 3D doesn't seem to work for me though.
p.s. You will have two camera and gallery items in drawer. Use the flat camera looking app for the new camera.
Installing latest version now. New libs allow you to edit (worked)
I new build is also available for EVO and no build.prop updates needed.

i havent tested that yet, but i think i can get it fully working with sense, if somebody doesnt first. ill work on it when i get off of work.
Can't get it to zoom in or out.

AOSP* And camera quality is excellent. The layout of the buttons and settings is also awesome and you can still capture stills in the middle of a video. I'm loving it big time.

I just flashed this on Viper 2.0.2 and it seems to work. It took a 3d photoshpere image but when viewing it in the gallery it doesn't show up as a sphere, just a 360 pano. Either of the two buttons in the attached image (bottom right and bottom left corner) FCs the gallery.
Anyone know why that is? I'll do some side by side comparison of sense vs this cam as well today and post some images here.

Since I've run out of possibilities, now I want to kindly ask for a SecContacts.apk with a modified icon in order to look like AOSP Jelly Bean Contacts. Just the icon, nothing more. I tried to take the one from SimpleDroid ROM but unfortunately it was from XXLPY and didn't work on LQ4. So if anyone can do it, I would be extremely grateful!

Think this will change the phone one also.

It doesn't work this time, I don't know why. I replace the file in system/apps, reboot, but when I reboot the icon of the Dialer is still the same old green one. I've tried twice but to no avail. Any ides?

Maybe try clearing cache and delvik cache.

EDIT: No luck! Still the same after cache/dalvik cache wipe.

It doesn't work for me. The old green icon is still there.

That is just darn peculiar. The blue phone shows on the apk in the sd card, and when copied to system/app it shows there too but no in the drawer or dock. will investigate that. puzzling.

that is because of the .odex file..it will return back the things that you have changed in .apk..to make it possible, you need to find the .apk that already deodexed, than only you can change things..
happened to me couple of times before..

Alreaddy have tried with deodexed SecPhone.apk so that is what has me so puzzled.

then, you need to change all png that you desire in secphone and seccontact "mipmap" folder also..thats is the main problem..and search in drawable-sw320dp-hdpi folder named "mainmenu" png..change it too if you not yet change..
I tried to find that mainmenu.png in the folder you pointed out but I can't. As I can't immediately reach bobfrantic right now, would it be too much to ask of you to change the green icon of that SecPhone.apk with the blue AOSP icon?

Wait, you want to change icon for contact and dialer apps? Install some launcher + some icon theme and change it (if it is on launch bar).

P.S. This app is not working as it should for me.
Hm, I just replaced ic_launcher_contacts.png in mipmap-hdpi with some other icon from there (renamed it and replace it) and I lost contacts and dialer.
That's the trick, I don't want to use an aftermarket launcher, I want to stick to the default one. BTW, the app is not working for me too...
