See, this is a major flaw at XDA. Here's someone who doesn't understand that the development section is only for posting ROMs, mods, kernels, yet he has a donate to me button. What has he done to earn a donate to me button? And what does that title thread mean anyway? I put it in Google translate and the result was "No f'n clue"

The OP ask a legitimate question imho about the GS3 in a forum that is the predecessor to the GS3 where people are genuinely interested in this device. Correct us both if we are wrong then. Where or how should he have asked the question? Thanks in advance. BTW, this is not sarcastic in anyway but a legitimate question.

The reason I started this thread served a dual purpose.
I wanted to inform people with an sgs2 that the forum for the sgs3 is now available, and I needed assistance in getting it to show up in the app.
The first reason, not really being obvious, yet still succeeding. May have caused some of the criticism about this thread.
I would like to address the real problem with this thread that has legitimate reason for criticism yet no one caught it, no it wasn't intentional. I apologize for posting a question in general. I do not apologize for creating this thread but for where I created it.

Rils are working. We are waiting for kernel source so we can have a stable.Rom. they tried several other Kernels but none worked and crashed.
Dmeadows is working with what he has. And blame verizion for not letting HTC release the ota....

No debating that fact, this was just a simple post about something relevant to the device being FINALLY made available. If I thought it would be responsible for some development breakthrough, I would have put it in the dev forum..no wait, that's for development..so I is just a general piece of information...but wait it's in general..
The ongoing problem, not just here, but rampant everywhere, is people feel empowered to be jerks because they have some grand illusion of themselves being elite. The post was general information, in the general section, for the specific device, there was no need for the snarky remarks. It's just another shining example of how much things have changed around here, and not for the better.
Last time I checked, XDA didn't have a rule that stated that only information deemed relevant to MotoMudder77 and Nick281051 may be posted in the General Section. To Phalanx7621's point, many people are looking upward and onward to JB, but it is going to be awhile before we see a fully stable JB build, as many of the ICS build still have quirks. Maybe this can help, maybe it won't, but how about we leave it up to the actual rom developers to decide.

I know right. Kernels are never really CRITICAL unless there is a bad driver incompatibility or something of that nature. Look at something like my old Atrix, the ICS builds are still struggling due to a lack of drivers.
Actually this is very useful. Although we know it's there we can finally see the brickbug in the flesh. It's often useful to do a full source tree compare to see if there is anything 'interesting' left out between i9000 and i777.

HI all, i recently purchased a ATT Note and love it. I have come back to droid after being on the iphone for a while. I fell in love with the screen. I almost sided with the Galaxy SIII due to the performance being so much better but the display model Note was not running ICS. So i got the note, brought it home and got it updated. Its a great phone, i love it. Especially for me being able to remote into my work computer and assist end users in troubleshooting. I am getting close to returning it though and getting the GSIII due to it being just so much faster. Is there a current ROM available that improves performance? There just seems to be so much lag when opening things up and when typing. The GSIII also has a nice screen but is noticeably smaller to me and that was a drawback but the performance is really better to me and things open instantly. Thanks for any input! Was it just me, or is there really that much of a performance improvement? It seemed much much faster than the note...
What are all the roms in the development section for the Note? Maybe i am using the wrong terminology...
I am looking for something with great performance and the largest screen i can get right now, so i guess that would be the GSIII, huh?

The note performs fine but spec-wise the GS3 beats it one way or the other (whether you have the international version or a variant).
To me it sounds as though you updated your note OTA and that's just going to cause you problems.
There are plenty of fantastic ROMs for the note here - whether you want to dabble with GB, ICS or JB.
Start reading.
I suggest you begin with the everything note sticky.

Thanks for some actual help. My last droid was a capitvate. I had to go iPhone for corporate email and such. They are finally supporting touchdown so i am back on droids. I did the update via Kies. I have some basic info now from few people (and you now, so thanks) to get started but my basic question is answered and that is the performance ca be improved so i dont have to switch to the GSIII. Thanks so much!
Performance can be greatly improved. Try flapjaxx uclf6 or hotwires for ics as both provide overclocking. HAve had great success with DaGr8 gingerbread with oc.
I haven't personally tried any of the other dev's roms but have read about them and it doesn't seem like you could lose with any of them. it is just all a matter of what you prefer to have feature wise.

What type of performance increase are you looking for because from personal experience (my brothers GS3) my note was running flappjaxxx's uclf6 rom and my phone was much snappier and responsive ..and the apps we ran side by side..pretty much a toss up on any graphical difference...now if he roots and roms his phone it might be different ...but I gotta work on convincing him(he's terrified of bricking)...good luck hope that helps...

If you must leave the Note, I suggest the One X. The screen on the SIII is pitiful. And, to top it off, I just left the One X for the Note. I can't tell any reall speed difference. The One X is, however, the sleekest and best built of the new "regular phones". I've heard multitasking complaints with the One X, but I never had any issues. By the way, I haven't sold the One X. I'll still be playing with it, too.
I've read a few of these threads and I've owned both the SG3 and the Note and my brother has a OneX. The performance difference is negligible with the right oc kernel, of which there are several to choose from. And the rom support for the note is off the charts. In my opinion your note is just as good as any phone on the market right now.

A little searching would have answered his question.
If a camera is VERY important to you, the One X camera beats the other mentioned phones hands down. There really is just no comparison.

Then i suggest that you take a break from these forums. Its obvious that you are burned out and bitter. It even would have been better if you were to tell the op to search or call his question premature, but you went straight into telling him there were no roms and that he should try the ipad. All the OP had to do was click on the Android Development Section instead of Q & A. There are 100's of ROMs including one that I make. I'm not sure why you're trying to argue about this when you are wrong.
