I downloaded a zip file using the Boat browser and although it showed on the Boat browser downloads I could not find it in Android folders using the Astro file manager.
I downloaded the same zip file using the Chrome browser and now I can see it in the Android Download folder.
Is there a bug in the Boat browser?
I had the same problem but was able to find the file.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to find a browser that will allow me to download files to my SD card but I'm having no luck finding one. Opera allows downloads, but there is no way to make it download in \sdcard-ext\ it only DLs to the phone memory which is no good for large files.
How can I download files to the \sdcard-ext\ folder?
thx
David
I usually don't bump my own threads but...
Are there any Atrix users out there that know how to download a file via web browser to the removable sdcard?
Dolphin Browser HD
Just set your download directory in settings to the correct path (sdcard-ext instead of sdcard)
Yup Dolphin lets you set the DL dir to anything you want which is great, but I have trouble getting Dolphin to DL from many web sites, specifically ulozto.cz which is a Czech movie file sharing site.
To see what I mean do this:
1. Using Dolphin, go to ulozto.cz
2. Search for "bastardi"
3. click "stahnout" (which means download)
4. type in the 4 letter captcha code to start DL
...the download never starts w/Dolphin. By the way this site does work w/Opera, but Opera can DL to sdcard-ext...
thanks anyway and if you have any more ideas I'd love to hear them...
I'm having this issue myself. When I try downloading a large file after a while I get a error "source could not be found". Smaller files will download sometimes sometimes they wont. Any reason why downloading to a pre installed SD doesn't seem to work? I set up dolphin HD to my extra SD. Seems to work but have yet to download a large file.
This app will let you download whatever you want:

Thanks, I'll try it tonight...
The app "Download All Files" did not work for me. Did you try it on the website I listed above?
I've tried several browsers including the stock one and am yet to find a solution to this problem. It seems that when I download from sites that use a form of redirecting the url, like some file hosting sites that the browser simply downloads a .bin or .html file rather than the apk or whatever file im trying to download.
I've tried dolphin hd, stock browser and firefox with no success. Any ideas?
Cheers!

Thanks but the problem still persists. I should also mention that when clicking these types of links that the page simply seems to stop loading. This only happens on these type of links so I don't think it's a connection issue.
Have the same problem..it must be some solution...
Astro File Manager. Enable the option for Stock browser download. Besides, Opera can download just anything.
Regards.

Nah that didn't work either, I don't think its a problem with file types but rather how the stock browser deals with re-directed urls.
Hi,
Did you try firefox for android?
I had the same problem firefox should sort it out for ya

It seems that only solution is to use Opera..with this browser problem is solved..it can download everything..but still stays question how to download files with stock browser?
Yes with Opera it can be downloaded everything..also with Dolphin HD it is impossible to download such files..
When I go to mediafire or zippyshare to download files with bytetorn it always downloads as .txt files. Does anyone know why? Or how I can fix it. Thanks in advance!

Use opera browser.
I always use FireFox for my downloading. Had several problems where opera wants downloading files just getting html files.
If you didn't know this then you can just rename the .txt file to what ever ext that it should be. So if you were downloading an music.mp3 and it downloaded as music.txt then you can rename the .txt to .mp3 and the file should be fine.
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
It wouldn't open them. Only had option to open with reader, or html.file editor. Trying FireFox now. Thanks for the info guys.

Probably a dumb question, but I searched and can't find the answer...I am trying to download a.txt file in chrome and it keeps opening a new window and showing me the contents..I need to remove the .txt extension and put the file in my system directory for a fix on vvm. I would just copy and paste and save it in a new file but I don't know what kind of program to save code in. Thanks for your help

Try downloading in the normal android browser. I'm pretty sure that it will download properly there.

is there an app/browser that asks you to renames files you are downloading
e.g. you download a rar then it asks you to rename it then asks you to choose a location
Dolphin Browser allows you to rename files before downloading them but why would you want to do that? You can just rename them with your File Browser after they are downloaded.
UC Browser has that function to rename files before downloading.

I use Exsoul Web Browser, small and fast. You can rename your download files before downloading them.
