[Q] verizon Note 2 wont connect PC - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I was running stock rooted and everything was fine, then i used odin to install jelly beans buid 1 and now my PC doesn't recognize my phone, i have the driver installed and everything but in device manager shows it but with a yellow triangle. the phone is running fine, what could be blocking my phone from being recongized?

i flashed beans rom this morning and it fine for me. are you checking the box that says media device? its not checked by default.
try unplugging it a few time after checking media device

What version of Windows are you using?
Have you restarted your computer?
Do you "Safely remove USB Devices" instead of pulling them out without waiting?

Unable to use Odin

My Samsung Galaxy Note II (Verizon) won't show up in Odin. I've installed the samsung drivers but its doesn't recognize the phone. I can go into download mode on my phone, but I'm stuck in a boot loop. What can I do? Any help is much appriciated
I'm having the same issue on Windows 8 64 bit. I had all drivers in place and everything worked perfect. Usb MTP and PTP, in both regular and usb debugging modes. Adb worked and Odin worked. I unlocked a Note 2 for a buddy using the updated casual (as of 5/3) method. I had issues with Casual that I could only fix by uninstalling my drivers and allowing it to install it's own. Now when I connect my rooted Note or any Note, the computer can only see the phone in Camera (PTP) WITHOUT Usb debugging on. The computer can't see it in any other mode. No adb or odin.
I've uninistalled the drivers, reinstalled them, installed Kies, used another Note 2 tool and allowed it to install the drivers. Uninstalled them and let the computer decide which drivers. Every time I get the same result. I can only see the phone in Camera mode without debugging on.
Any help would be appreciated!

I had a similar problem with my Note 2, and eventually had to use a different computer.

USB Debgging Mode
Yeah, I am having the a same problem. Although I rooted my i605 and had the TWRP Recover, decided to go back to stock using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040264 . Well Verizon sent an OTA last night and I clicked update on accident, and now it is in a boot loop. I can get into download mode but odin does not see the device, I am almost positive that this is because I cannot put the device into USB Debugging Mode.
More research is need for now, but your sounds like the same thing.

That has got to be the problem. Is there any way to turn on debugging mode even with a looping boot? It was on before this problem occured, but it must have been switched at some point when I tried to root.
Usb debugging and download are different modes. I've odin'ed countless times. The problem is in the drivers. I'm still tinkering but cant get them to see the device.

Believe me I am very new to this but extremely tech savvy, I have spent almost all of my work day searching XDA and numerous other sites and I have not found a way.
Unfortunately this is on me i know after i rooted and loaded the Jedi ROM, that I had set the updates to stop, but I guess I forgot to when I "unrooted". Oh well you live you learn, that's how I started on computers back in the day, break it and fix it all day long, lol
I've exhausted everything I can think of. I'm about ready to try my old W7 computer and if that fails, I'll go back to XP.

OP, will you update the title with "Unable to use Odin (Driver Issue)" to hopefully draw attention of a developer or someone with more knowledge. As stated, it'll quickly be dismissed as a noob problem where it is very clearly not at this point.

Josh I cannot help but think that if these two do not go hand in hand then why would every instructable on this advise to first set USB Debugging Mode to On, then reboot to download mode??
Like I said I am new to this and do my research before hacking anything up, so i may be incorrect.

If you're using an automated program to hack your phone then usb debugging is required so it can send adb commands to the phone telling it to reboot to download mode. However, without usb debugging enabled, you can power off and manually boot to download mode and Odin will work all the same.
Most tutorials and tools are noob friendly and it's easier for them to send the "adb reboot bootloader" command then to instruct the user to do it manually.
I've been rooting since the HTC Eris so I'm no noob. I'm not a developer either but I'm 99.9% sure the problem is driver related.

Interesting, thanks for schooling me! Now I am completely lost!!!
I have 2 perfectly fine Note 2's in my hand (both rooted and rom'ed) and can't get my computer to recognize either accept for in a Camera mode without usb debugging enabled.
Let's try to get a common ground here. When did everyone unlock their bootloaders? More specifically, when did you use Adam Outler's (big props to that guy) tool on your computer?
I just plugged my Note 2 in my work computer with usb debugging enabled and it sees it perfectly. So something driver related is messed up on my computer.

Actually that's why I Un-Rooted mine, I used Adams Method and the loaded the Jedi ROM, when I connected it to the pc after after a couple days it would only recognize as PTP not MTP?!? This was only with USB Debugging Mode enabled, if I turned it off it did not recognize it at all. So I decided to Un-root the device, then a week later I get the OTA and selected update and now it is dead

Where is he? The issue is probably with the driver. He can connect and go to device manager. He'll have to open up some of the universal serial bus and see what the computer recognizes the phone as. If you can't tell, unplug it and see which on the list goes away. Re-plug if it comes back, update drivers with the Samsung drivers. That should put him back in business (you too).

[Q] note 2 sch-i605 4.1.2

Hey my friends. I just got the note 2 sch-i605 4.1.2 which is Verizon. Viewed many threads on here how to root. However casual does not work for me. Casual cant seem to link up with the device drivers on my win 7 laptop. My Sammy also wont work on XP period. I have the latest usb drivers and download drivers. No matter using win 7 laptop, all drivers are loaded and ready to go. I can put the phone in download mode and Odin connects to it just fine. Ive rooted many phones like the fascinate, charge, etc. without problems. All I want is root access, stock ROM is fine for me so I don't need to unlock the boot loader. Do I need to goto 4.1.1 first then use root66 to get root with a stock ROM. Viewed a few threads on this and cant seem to find a stock 4.1.2 with root. Also Im used to using the PDA function in Odin and not the PIT function, what is the difference between the 2? Also most of the threads Ive read have auto reboot and f reset checked. Not sure about those either. So if anyone has a way for me to connect my Note 2 to XP, even to transfer pics, etc, it would be greatly appreciated. And yes I know I can use kiess to transfer files to my win XP with no problem. Im talking through the USB cable. And yes Ive tried other cables, ports, etc, and turned off computer and phone. And the big question, what file and settings in Odin do I need to gain root access only and keep the stock Sammy ROM, ie, locked boot loader? I only need root, nothing else. Thanks for any help on this matter. This is the best site for all things root and Ive used it many times, great job to all the devs out there.
Did you restart your computer before doing this?

May not work for you, but I had to disable visual styles on my win 7 to get casual to work. In other words, I used the classic theme on my computer and disabled all animations, don't know why it worked, but it did.

Have you uninstalled the driver that installs when you plu the phone in and replacing it with the drivers for our phones that are available in droidstyles thread?
Also you need to try different USB cords, some will not work with out devices for some reason. Also try different ports on the computer, note that they have to be 2.0 ports and not 3.0 ports.

[Q] saferoot Verizon Note 2 Stuck at Waiting for device to appear

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II SCH-i605 which has the 4.3 OTA. I downloaded Saferoot, unzipped it - and tried to root. I am ALWAYS getting stuck at "waiting for device to appear"
My computer recognizes my phone as an installer, camera, or media device - depending on which I have selected. I have tried running Saferoot using 4 different USB ports, 5 different USB cables (including the original white one the phone came with) and EVERY time I get stuck at "waiting for device to appear".
Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

I am at a total loss.
I did everything you suggested. still no joy.
I did notice that every time I connect my phone I am given the RSA Key box and click Always from this phone...but it asks this EVERY time I connect my phone.
If I clicked Always ... why does it always ask me?
I am thinking I should have kept my Droid RAZR.........
I really do not understand how my computer recognizes my phone as an SCH-i605 with bot the "phone" and "card" as possible drives but the command prompt cannot see my phone...
I have reinstalled the drivers at least 3 times now - from the device itself, from the Samsung website, and from another forum on this site...nothing is working...
I even re-flashed the 4.3 .tar file using Odin and went through the entire process of re-setting up my phone...no joy.
Oh Android - why do you hate me so?
@jburchii,
You've probably done this already, but just making sure....Have you enabled USB debugging for your phone under developer options?
If not... you can find this in your system settings.

Yes - Did this...I am re-installing Kies hopefully this will work...oh the drudgery.
Update: I just installed Kies 3 - I currently have the Samsung USB driver for mobile phones installed (it is in my "Programs and Features)...still getting stuck on "waiting for device"
I mean NOTHING seems to be working. Does anyone who successfully completed this on an SCH-i605 have a copy of the driver they are using?

Use the factory USB cable that came with your Samsung Phone
Try another computer
So nothing worked until I downloaded Safe Root.apk
Now I AM rooted on Nebulae 3.6.

[Q] Please help me to go back to stock rom / problem with connecting to PC

Hi, I have asked this question few months ago but i couldn't get the answer and also, somehow I couldn't login so I have made the account again and I have been searching around to find out the answer for my problem but I couldn't
I have few questions/issues.
I have Galaxy S3 (GT-9300). I have brought in it New Zealand but it was unlocked phone. So when I did was installing the omega rom, I found out that the rom it had was the rom from one of the europe countries (I can't remember)
I was wondering if I can install any GT-9300 stock rom to get back to stock rom phone or do I somehow have to find out which stock rom it had before?
The other question is that I was trying to reinstall and update the omega rom from the scratch by going to stock rom then installing the latest omega rom. But my phone somehow won't connect to the PC, it charges properly and I know its not the computer or cable 's problem. I have searched and searched on google but couldn't find any solution to resolve that. (Tried different versions of Kies, tried removing everything turning off the phone and restarting, tried to changed to tfs(?) mode and other stuff)
Because of that, I can't use Odin to change Roms or anything. Is there anything I can do to resolve this problem or changing Roms without connecting to the computer?
Currently, I have Omega v54.
Thank you so much
Go read the sticky thread in general forum, how to return to stock.
You can use any firmware for the i9300 but best is the latest for your country.
Sorry but the main problem is that my phone is not getting recognized by the computer so i cant use Odin to do that. Please read the whole contents
Try different versions of drivers.
Sent from my GT-I9300
What do you mean by different drivers?
I have tried all the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 slots on my pc
but no luck.
The message i am getting is ' USB Device Not Recognized' 'One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message'
You have skipped several steps in the learning process. Go read the sticky thread in general forum, you'll need the correct Samsung drivers to connect your pc with Odin.
I did that while ago, and did that again this morning. uninstalled kies, installed latest Samsung USB driver. but exactly same as before.
same usb error message. and on the device manager, it shows up as unknown device.
another thing I found is that on *#7284# (Service mode) I can only find UART : MODEM, PDA USB: MODEM, PDA. (I have tried this with USB debug mode)
Kies stops Odin from working
Sorry I think you are keep saying the same thing but I DO NOT HAVE Kies. didn't have it for at least 4 months now.
and its the problem with connection to the PC more than going back to stock rom.
Need to resolve the connection problem first to do the Odin step.
please read the messages properly before reply.

Then it's something wrong either with usb cable, usb port(on Pc) or ,most likely, micro usb on your phone.
When you insert usb cable into micro usb port, try jerking it up and down, left and right but gently and listen will it make connection for a second,at least.
