AOSP? - HTC Droid DNA

I'm thinking of getting this phone but u hate sense. I was wondering now that it is unlocked what are the chances of getting cm10 or any type of AOSP rom?
Thanks!

If you are looking for a quick fix for aosp, I don't think this is the phone for you. If, however, you are willing to put up with the Sense UI for a while, then you will love this phone.

soap lol

Definitely hoping to see some AOSP roms come out soon. I think once we manage to get the phone S-OFF we'll see more development come about for the phone *fingers crossed*.

Before we get AOSP, the RIL needs to be cracked.

Sorry for the noob question, but what is the RIL?

Radio interface layer. It lets your phones radio and the rest of the phone communicate.

Gotcha. I'm on cm10 sgs3 and it's pretty fast. But u have an upgrade so I might get this but even since it's quad core idk if sense will outdo AOSP. I guess ill be patient and see

Good god, man! You're a chain gun of wildly fired questions! I don't know what you're first questions are about. Yeah, I guess you could reflash the same ROM you have... not sure why you'd want to. MIUI... negative on that front as far as I know. And from what I read it doesn't look promising anytime soon.

MIUI is having problems with the RIL. Not looking good for the home team on that one, sadly.

Jelly Bean Headed to AOSP Today

Whether this means anything for us is yet to be seen but still cool to know
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/07/09/android-4-1-headed-to-aosp-today/
Won't mean much for this phone since it doesn't have a functioning AOSP RIL.
Yet.

Well if you mean towards jelly bean, yes and no. I don't think we can get aosp jb as their wont be a kernel for it. I think since JB is closely related to ICs versus the big difference between GB and ICS that it wont be as hard to go from one to the other
Correct me if I am wrong here. Trying to answer based on what I skim and read.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Actually yes, Chad is working on the kernel/RIL issue. I talked to Dmaedows on twitter informed him of it, it was the first he heard of Chad's working on it. Tweeted back later, it seems the two are going to work together, or at the very least Dmeadows is going to merge his fixes with Chad to make something useable.
But as always, remain cautiously optimistic, no promises.
http://www.twitlonger.com/show/i7dae2
I doubt we'll get a fully working JB port any time soon, few months at best.
Last I read on the ICS RIL was the kernel source was needed so we are stuck waiting for the update to be release and the source to be posted on HTC's dev site shortly afterwards...
No idea if that's truly the hold up, just something I saw awhile back.
guys yes rils are done. Currently waiting on kernel source to do anything.

Yup. Porting from the rezound would be time consuming having to change the resolution and then having to fix data.

Right, which is why you made a negative comment. That being said, you can make any Rom work on any phone. It may not be easy, but it can be done. There's a guide on how to port sense roms floating around somewhere.

I started this thread just in case you dont realize it. Plus what negative comment did I make? I already stated that porting is difficult when there is a resolution change and I know this because I have ported a rom before.

ICS

Listen guys im coming from the cappy. im reading these stickies but i want to make sure that im doing this right as borking my phone is NOT an option. I just flashed stock-rooted kh7 through odin. Whats the fastest way to get to ICS? I was reading that i have to flash a gb kernel with mobile odin...is this required or is there a new quicker way? Thanks fellas
Unless you want to do it with AT&T's stock firmware over Kies (which I don't suggest) then you're going to need CWM. Odin/Mobile Odin-ing a custom kernel's the easiest way to install that.

To get a custom kernel with ClockworkMod Recovery, you must flash a GB kernel while you have a GB stock system.
I've never tried this, but you could probably install mobile odin and flash the full ICS firmware of your choice without installing a custom kernel first. I don't see any reason that would not work.
Took safe route lol. Any suggestions for smoothest ics rom? Ultimatum has a lag issue when pressing home button

ROM Port

So, I'm thinking about trying to port a stock ROM for the Verizon s4 to the DNA. Why you guys think? Just an idea.
Sent from my dlx using xda app-developers app
I assume it will be hard and take lots of time and testing. More so than an HTC port since it's a Samsung device and they run different hardware. Some stuff may not ever work. The s4 has many features one would miss out on if ported to a DNA. Touchwiz would be nice to see because of it's fluidity and snapiness. That's something that sense has always lacked in my eyes.
Good luck with that.
Please do it!!!!
