Bootloop in every rom - HTC EVO 3D

Hello folx,
My device is unlocked, rooted, hboot version 1.53.0007 and s-on. I try to flash rom via 4ext recovery touch. for every rom the boot image show up than restart with an infinite loop. How do i fix it ? The problem caused by hboot version or being s-on ? I don't want to mess up with s-off. I don't want to push my phone that far with wired stuff.
Thanks.

S-on is your issue, the only way you might be able to flash a rom without resulting in a boot loop is with 4ext with smart flash enabled but there's also the hboot which could cause issue too depending in which rom you flashed and also the firmware could also cause issues, so to sum up, go s-off already and do us all a favorite, makes life so much easier
(Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh!

Best way to fix this is to get s-off using the wire trick then downgrade your hboot to 1.4 (I had the same issue and this fixed it). As flash said, use 4ext recovery. The wire trick isn't that bad, it's actually really easy.

Is there any proper tutorial that i can apply s-off to my phone ? Does the hboot version differ this process?

By the way i wanted to install latest miui jb rom with 4ext recovery by enabling smartflash. Even with that option it doesn't work. And also first i try to flash boot img and than installed the rom still same.

You need to downgrade your Hboot to install jb roms, and the only way to do it is with S-OFF, I did a few phones using the wire trick method and have not had any problems yet. S-OFF is well worth it if you want try different roms...

This guy is unbelievable. You have been posting redundant solutions that have already been suggested. If there's something different and more insightful that you can add please do so. Otherwise don't post. I know your trying to help but just wait until somebody hasn't had their issue resolved and do what I suggested.
Now I must lay down. My headache is killing me:crying:

This video. is what I used. And for the wire. I just used a piece of small copper wire with rubber on it. But it's the most informative video I've seen.

I had this problem as well.
Ultimately, the solution was to downgrade to hboot 1.49.0007 (from 1.57.xxxx).

Am I missing something?

I have hboot 1.5, and so far I've been able to do all the same things as a person with s-off.
Is there anything else you can do with s-off that s-on users can't do?
I only ask cause so many people say they hate this 1.5 hboot.

It is alot easier if you have S-OFF, as you dont have to use fastboot or joeykrim's app to flash kernels and such.
I believe only S-OFF users can flash splash screens? Dont quote me on it though.
You can't flash radios or boot logos.

It's just a lot more convenient having S-off. I got lucky and my device came with 1.40 hboot.

Yeah i can do that i use Joeys app to flash kernels though.
Bootlogos not a big deal but i can see not being able to flash radios being a problem.

i did HTC Unlock Hboot 1.50 + TWRP Recovery + Root + Flash, a while ago. works great but i would like to install the New OTA upgrades can anyone help me...
If your hboot 1.5 and HTC unlocked, HTC has you on record as giving up your devices warranty. I know its not exactly what you were asking for but I think its worth pointing out

If you're S-On, you have to "relock" the bootloader to install the OTA update. See the the GUide/Flashing Notes in my signature (it's in the stickies thread too) . I have the links you need in there.
I'm stuck on 1.5 unfortunately. Would be great if we can get s-off but I dnt know if that's ever going to be possible

Benefits of S-Off:
-Flash kernels from recovery
-Flash splash screens
-Flash radios
-Flash bootloaders
-Not in HTC's unlocked database
-Can S-on at any time (not really recommended)
-You aren't limited to anything. You can do ANYTHING with your phone.
If I were you, I would downgrade to HBOOT 1.40 since you have S-Off.

[Q] Not a Noob but could use some help with pg86img on hboot 1.50 S-on

I've been doing this **** for well over 2 yrs now and im either having a serious brain fart of perhaps this hasn't been entirely, exactly discussed yet .... I have googled til the cows come home and can't find an answer.
Im on hboot 1.50 with S-on bootloader is unlocked through HTC Dev
I want to flash the new i.c.s. PG86IMG.zip that Freeza (the one without the new 1.57 hboot) just put out to go along with the ICS ruu that Virtuous has put out however I know that I cannot just put the pg86img on my sd card and flash it by holding down the - volume button and power through bootloader....
MUST i relock my bootloader, ruu it back to stock and then go about it doing that way OR is there a way that I can use commands to flash the PG86IMG.zip file?????
Help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I just relocked my bootloader, RUU'd it back so now I have a relocked bootloader, with hboot 1.50 S-on and when I take my battery out, put it back in- hold down vol down while pressing power....then it scans and finds the pg86img.zip but it does not offer me a chance to install the pg86img I'd REALLY appreciate some input here. Thanks.
I was too lazy/tired to downgrade so I just wiped and flashed just to see what would happen and it worked. After it booted, it was stuck on the HTC setup so I pulled the battery and rebooted it. I'm on Hboot 1.50 with S-ON.
I cannot for the life of me get the PG86IMG.zip file flashed.... i've PM'd a few different dev's but heard nothing back yet.
Man you should have atleast unlocked your bootloader first see if you can boot in to boatloader and fastboot USB if so then you can correct the problem

did you flash in hboot or through recovery?

This is such an annoying issue. PG86IMG_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_VM_1.13.652.1_Radio_1.06.00.0426_NV_1.53_144_release_259069_signed.zip that Football sent me, I cannot get it install it after it scans and finds it -renamed to PG86IMG (.zip) it always goes back to hboot and says:
CID incorrect!

Press <POWER> to reboot.
If it was me I would just root

Depending upon which DEV i've spoken to, i've been told to try this that and the other and lol nothing works. I dont get it. I've been told to go back entirely to stock unrooted; that didn't work. Been told to root it, that didn't work.
I never had any problems flashing roms using htc dumlock but the problem is, the file I am trying to flash is not one that can be flashed through CWM/TWRP, only by being renamed PG86IMG and being started through hboot.
any other suggestions? hell i'll try em all!
I would go back to stock and start from scratch

i'll end up most likely having to wait, like everyone else for the .exe file to be released

oh and you need to change your cid number to HTC__001 and it will work
With HTC unlock, you cant flash radios (freeza's zip) & splash screens that are part of those custom PG86IMG zips. The only way to flash an Ruu is to have stock recovery/relocked and to flash the same or newer fw version (2.08, 2.17, etc).
I'm not 100% sure but the ics leak version is 1.13 which may not pass the version check.
I've read some posts that indicate an hboot 1.4 downgrade for S-off is required as things sit right now. Definitely changing daily though.

To further reiterate, S-ON means you do not have permissions to certain partition of the phone to flash radios, or flash kernels/roms without the 1.5 fastboot workarounds. The firmware freeza has, requires access to that certain partition. So without s-off (1.4) you cannot flash the firmware/radio for ICS.

I think you do need s-off to not have boot loops in ics Roms. If you look at the stickies in the gsm development forums, you'll find what you need to get s-off.

use this to downgrade and s-off. it will give you more options.... as most of the custom rom will indicate "....unlocked and s-off....." in the requirements before flashing...
So, I guess you didn't flash the new firmware either?
First install latest firmware, then wipe everything, then install V7 run it once and then wipe cache/Dalvik and install V9.

AFAIK, mainly flash radios without having to relock the phone. I've also noticed that even with 4ext smart flash, s-on people still get bootloops with ics. S-off people don't have as many issues.

If you accepted an official OTA update, then you are likely now stuck in Hboot1.5-Hell. (I made this mistake many moons ago.)
You can try one of the many methods to downgrade your HBoot, but I don't know how that works with the official ICS update.
Sorry.

hope there will be a solution soon
not much of a problem still can flash any ICS ROM Unless Sense 4.0

That error could mean the update put your bootloader to stock I'm not certain of what your capable of doing at the moment but I do know to unlock the bootloader for hboot 1.5 you had to use the HTC unlock method and maybe you'll have to use it. I'm not an expert so this may not be the case but keep in mind you said your hboot is at a different value than previous to me it would only make sense to use the HTC method to unlock reestablish root the use the wire trick to get s-off. 1_ you tried unlimited.io and it didn't work? Thats surprising to me.
2_ have you tried booting recovery from fastboot and flashing a gb rom? Fastboot boot recovery yourrecovery.img
3_ You can run an older ruu if you change your main version, but it still won't lower your hboot, your phone says its version "x.x.x.x" and the ruu is lower so it won't flash.
4_ you will never be able to lower your hboot unless you use a downgrade method like unknownforces brick/downgrade. If you put a lower hboot in the newest ruu, it won't run because you've broken the HTC signature. Id try the wire trick again if I were you.
Question, why did you s-on? I've taken ota's with s-off and as soon as I see the new hboot I just reflash the engineering hboot.
I have ~ the same problem as friend.evil, although he says he can run roms with Sense < 4, (if i understood correctly) while i can not.
I did try the lastest GB (provided by anryl) PG86IMG, with no luck (device always stuck in boot loop), but i do not have any goldcard (nor could i find one for evo 3d, but i did not google for it that much)
I am not sure about what you (anryl) mean by « official pg86img with changed older hboot ? » ?

I don't mean to be insensitive but if you s-on'd and then took a new ota then youve got a problem on your hands. An older ruu with an older hboot will do you no good as it won't flash unless you change your main version, and even if you do that it won't flash an older hboot, just an older system (gb). You should go ahead and check in to downgrading.

Gotcha, well you should consider downgrading to get s-off. It's much more trouble free than s-on. Are you gsm or cdma?
NVM, dumb question, lol, if you took an ics ota then you're gsm
Edit... After reading your post in the link provided, is say that an ics ruu would fix u up. I'm cdma so I wouldn't know where to find it at.
Thanks for you suggestions… But still, i don't understand why downgrading should be necessary : why would flashing a rom, stock or not be a problem for the bootloader ? Can we not write to system or flash the boot partition anymore (from fastboot, using fastboot flash boot boot.img ?) in 1.53.0007 ?
(And indeed, gsm forgot to mention, sry)

You might be on to something there, some hboots don't accept commands that others do. I would think that if you changed your main version and then ran a gb pg86img, it would get you back to gb but it won't change your hboot.
Have you tried booting a recovery from fastboot with fastboot boot recovery.img?

I have a question about going S-Off with Flashmaniac and Revolutionary. I unlocked my phone via HTC Dev way a before a few months but now finnaly i want to go s-off. I'm on a JB rom and have 4ext recovery, HBOOT 1.49.0018. In the thread it says that it can be done with my hboot and only with a Gingerbread ROM. Now my question is can i use a GB rom like LeeDroid or do i need to use my first orginal rom that i backed up and can i do it with 4ext recovery or what? If some could help me please
I did s-off using this tool quite a while back but i remember i was on a custom ics rom. Just make sure your rom is rooted and usb debugging is turned on. Do all 3 steps and you should be good to go.

Thanks on the answer ..I'll try it
I think that easiest method is by "wire trick" Here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743466 yust follow method C
I tried the Flasmaniac way and it didnt work. Im stuck on the 3rd step when it needs to relock my device.
Relock your phone, install officiall GB rom and since u have hboot version .0018 u must to downgrade to .0007 or 0008 , then u are ready to go with revolutionary. Othervise u cant gain s-off using revolutionary method with some ics or jb custom rom.
For flasmaniac metod i think u need gb based rom

I had a custom GB rom and people said that it works with it. But my problem is that i can't relock the bootloader. When i try with fastboot oem lock it gives me an error and the phone reboots and the flahsmaniac way gets stuck when it needs to relock it. So i feel lost, and i don't like to try the wire trick, don't know if it's safe or not.
