[Q] Gmail app not sending emails?

I've searched for an answer but couldn't find one.. my gmail app won't send any emails. It just says "sending" forever. I'm using a rooted vibrant on stock 2.1 rom, with JAC's kernel.
There have been a few people myself included experiencing this sporadically but I haven't seen a fix or a reason why it's doing this just yet.

I have yet to be able to actually send an email via Gmail on my phone. I can receive them all day long, but the times I try to compose a message, they just say "sending" forever.
Also, I have noticed that when i receive a message and delete it, it doesn't actually delete it from my Gmail. I have to log into the webmail or use my desktop.
I'm running the stock rom, rooted.
I used to have this happen on my g1 frequently, haven't had it happen on my vibrant yet though. Typically when it would happen on my g1, I would go into the google apps and clear all the data. Couldn't just do it on gmail either, had to do the other google apps too for whatever reason, then it would work again.
Good luck, it's pretty annoying.
Try k9. It's a bit slow at times but it's pretty solid. Best email app I've found yet. I use it for msn, live, gmail, yahoo and my company email.
Honestly I'm pretty disappointed in the stock email apps that came with this phone. I think they're kinda garbage. Apparently my Sidekick '08 was better for that, not to mention the lack of IM.

This happened to me yesterday for the first time. I chalked it up to the gmail servers having issues. But as soon as I plugged in the charger the emails went out. Maybe if battery is low it won't send email? It didn't tell me it wasn't going to send them, it just didn't send them.
I find that I have to go to gmail and manually send each one from the outbox, they still say sending but they actually do send after doing that, because the recepient always says they get it.
So for example, if you send a pic from gallery, make sure you go to gmail after, go to the outbox then click on the mesage and then click send.
* To get to outbox go to gmail then click menu > labels
Sucks but works till we get froyo yo
i'm on a Samsung captivate running the leaked jh3 firmware. It's rooted and running SuperRooter and circle clock.
I noticed that after reflashing to the stock jh3 gmail would send
After installing superrooter gmail would send
After installing circle clock gmail would send
But after I backed up apps with titanium backup it stopped working. I think TiBU is causing an issue for me.
Anyone else have TiBU in your problems some how?
Update: Got it working
I did this:
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, home button then filter, select all. Next Select gmail, clear data and clear cache. Then do the same with gmail storage.
Now it works!

This fixed it for me as well. I am unsure of what caused it to not work in the first place, though.
nice, clearing cache/data worked for me. i was gonna reflash my phone to stock and start from scratch. this saved me a ton of time. +1

my gmail is having the same issue as here, has anyone found a better solution to the problem then clearing the data as that deletes the currently stuck sending gmails.....
also I cant do the process above if its in a conversation, does anyone know how to open a sending gmail when it has all the other responses attached to the top of it??? that process onnly works for individually sent mails, not "replied" mails that bring other messages with it into the outbox.
anyone know how to detach it from the others or even open the data files to remove text using some sort of tool???
bump for some possible resolutions to force the message to send and or view the message to copy text...m even a wayto view data from it so clearing data wontclear message tryingto be sent???
please got a long, important email i need sent...
Seriously doubt this is just a Vibrant issue as it would happen A LOT to me with my MT3G. So far, knock on wood, it hasn't happened with the Vibrant.
I have the captivate running cog2.2 and deleting the cache under "manage applications" worked for me. I was going crazy! Thanks for the help!
I have Titanium Backup and actually had to restore my ROM with ROM Manager and a couple of apps from Titanium Backup and developed this problem. Clearing data and cache under the Gmail App and Storage + Reboot fixed the problem.
Danger
I too have been having issues with emails (and now SMS?) messages stuck in "sending..." mode. I had several emails from a month ago that I just now noticed didn't send, so I backed up gmail, cleared data, restored the emails and tried to send them individually. On the plus side, my emails did send.
On the minus side, some of them had pictures and my phone took the liberty of sending the wrong pictures from my camera (I was "sharing" pictures from the camera app). So to be safe, just delete the emails!
Dangerzone!
bee tee dubs, I'm using Axura 2.2.9.0

[Q] GMail Notifications

Hey! I have a rooted Thunderbolt (Das BAMF Remix 1.6.3, using Imo's 2.7.0 leanKernel), but I have the LauncherPro app and I have my dock display my calls, messages, GMail, as well as a shortcut to the browser.
When I installed this about three weeks ago, my SMS notifications used to work (when I get a notification, a little red notification bubble came up next to my message icon, which was customized, and so are the rest of my dock icons), and then it stopped working - once I installed SMS Go, it started to work again for a bit, and then stopped.
So for two weeks I sort of just accepted that, and then for some odd reason my GMail notifications stopped working... I would get e-mail, and it would say "Inbox (1)" when I click on the GMail icon to open it up, but to see it I would have to refresh and then it would pop up and then if I went to the home screen, the notification bubble would return. These notifications used to be instantaneous; I sent myself a test e-mail and waited for hours, and after doing several test e-mails, I realized sometimes (not all the time though) the application, even after an hour, was not recognizing I got mail until I refreshed.
I tried changing setting to check mail often, made sure on LauncherPro's preferences I set the notifications to be on... I am just unsure why my notifications would stop working (and my GMail is slowly going to crap - I even uninstalled and reinstalled, did not help).
Does anyone have any advice, opinions, or suggestions for this weird problem? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
Bump - does anyone have any suggestions? I just tried uninstalling and reinstalling GMail again with no success.

Check under accounts to make sure that sync is still on for your Gmail account.

Go into Settings > manage apps > all. Open the Gmail icon. Click on "clear cache " and "clear data ". Ignore the warnings. Return to home page, and open Gmail. It will resync, and your problem should be solved.

I've had gmail bug out on me about three times total dating all the way back to my OG droid. It always happened after flashing a new ROM even with full wipes. My situation was a little different (basically if I "deleted" a email in the gmail app it wouldn't actually delete. It would never resync to my phone but I still would get a x amount of new messages. I would then log into my gmail on the pc and there are all the messages that I had "deleted") I solved this once by just clearing data and cache, but the other two times I had to do a wipe and reinstall. What was interesting though is each time I back upd my current Rom and used that on the restore and bam it was fixed.
Is there any way I can change the frequency of when the GMail app checks mail/forwards them to my phone?
through the gmail app itself no. You could use the "mail" provider on the phone and receive gmail that way. In that program you (i think) can set up the frequency that it syncs. A couple of downsides to this though:
1. unless it has changed since I haven't tried it since the OG droid, it won't delete emails off your web based account only your phone.
2. you would need to delete the gmail app on your phone.

[Q] Facebook messenger recieving delay?

Did a quick search, nothing obvious popped up for me...But i have an annoying thing with my S3 and facebook messenger, it can sometimes take 30-40 mins before my phone tells me there is a message, doesnt matter if the app is open in the background or not, ive reinstalled it, cleared data and removed and re-added my account with no change - anything else that i could try? The normal facebook app never tells me of messages does for notifications though lol.

No notifications on Samsung stock 4.1.2 with go launcher

So i have my S2 with the upgraded 4.1.2 stock rom from Samsung , but rooted, and go launcher.
I have this setup for the last 2 years or so with all the go launcher upgrades.
My problems are like this:
I have not received Gmail notifications in forever i always have to check manually for mail.
Yes i tried emptying cache and app data and the label notifications are always checked for all my accounts, but still nothing.
I have used Jorte calendar for some time but had to give it up last year cause after a while it would not send me notifications on the dates i set.
Recently i tried using Caynax hourly notification app.
This program doesnt send a visual notification in the notification area but plays a little audio clip similarly to when you receive a message.
And again after using it for a few weeks it just stopped sending notifications.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing data and the lot, settings in the app show everything is set up to send me the notifications and yet it doesnt.
I am getting some notifications, Facebook , YT and pushes , to name just a few, seem to work well enough
So if anyone has any experience with something like this please help.
humble bump

Nougat Android 7 ROM push notifications

I've had the Eragon 4.8 running for some time on my P9000 but I wasn't getting Facebook messenger messages coming through without opening either messenger or Facebook. I thought I would install the Nougat Rom and see if that fixed the issue (last Friday).
Things were the same, and now over the last few days I've gradually lost all the rest of my push notifications, no WhatsApp unless I open the app, Exchange emails very slow to register, nothing from Facebook, and now even texts are not always arriving.
Gmail stopped this morning, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it, which seems to have fixed Gmail. Have tried with the other apps to no success.
I've variously cleared the app cache, and data. Cleared the phone cache (via TWRP), and tinkered with app settings, and not managed to fix it. Any ideas??
Thanks
