This is a bit premature since the phone is still new, but does anyone know if there's been an Optimus G teardown yet? I saw the ifixit teardown of the nexus 4, but I believe the case opening will be a little different on this model. Also, when the time comes, does anyone know where to get battery replacements? Not sure if LG sells these to consumers.

I am trying to track down battery replacements for the Viewsonic G Tablet; and yes I did go through all of the threads to see if this information has already been posted elsewhere.
I would like to have the information handy in case mine decide to crap out. Has anyone been able to find a source, part number or anything on this subject?
Wasnt aware that the battery was exchangable.
You will have to open the case and remove/replace it yourself or send it in to viewsonic. I would just prefer to replace it myself...
Any leads on this would be great... I would love to have the option to do this myself so I wouldn't have to bring my Gtab back to stock and ship it to Viewsonic.
Is there someone out there willing to open their tab and get numbers off the battery to research this?
Someone has done a tear down, I think you would need to find out what the make/model of the battery is. Once that is done, you shouldn't have a problem sourcing one.

How old is you gTab? Seem really odd that it would already have killed the battery... likely a hardware failure of some sort
Going to call Viewsonic tomorrow and see how much one is going to be.

I bought it from woot this year... I was thinking a bad battery, perhaps, although hardware failure is a possibility.
The tablet works fine if the charger is plugged in.
raven, I'm going to try that too but I'm not very hopeful that they can help.
I may also go down to the battery store and see if they can make one.
Can you give me the measurements? In inches or milimeter. I am actually going to take mine apart tonight, you can get single cell lipo batteries in about any configuration imaginable. I was just looking at thin cells in 10K mah it would take a couple days to charge but would last a couple on a charge also. The main thing to be accurate on would be thickness I would think.

I called up Viewsonic and they want me to send in the tablet so they can look at it. And they said if they found something wrong they would replace the tablet free of charge. lol

Thats awesome, but I would prefer being able to just purchase parts if I could. What would be crazy if they sent you the new dual boot version instead.
There is a guy (rosco_pc) who is in China and had gotten some other gTab parts over there; I asked him if he'd seen the battery anywhere. He checked with the suppliers he used and said he wasn't able to locate one.
He gave me these characters to use in a search:

Part of that is "Malata" and part of it is "battery" (IIRC). Malata makes a lot of electronics, so sifting through the search results from that are tiring. But you could try it.
I found a wholesaler who had one very close to ours, but you had to buy 1000 at a time.

So my touch screen stopped working and im figuring its the digitizer because everything else works, boots into OS and everything. Plus i took it apart and the wire was snapped . question is, i have the optimus v but i cannot find ANYWHERE that has a digitizer specific for it. I have found one for the optimus s on ebay, which looks exactly the same, same button holes and everything. will this digitizer work for the optimus v? thanks in advance, this sucks as i do not have a replacement and am broke as a joke at the moment. would be nice just to buy a $22 digitizer instead of a $150 phone. thanks!
an ebay search turned up a variety of optimus parts for a variety of models, I'd say keep an eye on it as their stuff changes daily. LG might be an option for parts, too...
can't answer your hardware compatibility question, I'm afraid, except that the software is compatible and I'd guess that the hardware is also the same way.

Thanks. i ordered the optimus s digitizer off ebay, finally got my ebay account verified so i could buy it now. jesus it took forever . but if u actually open ur optimus v it says on the main board LS 670 which is the model number for the optimus s. so the v is the s with different branding on the front. how funny haha. The part should get here within a week im hoping, shipping from hong kong. ill update the thread accordingly cause im sure im not the ONLY ONE that this has happened to. globaldirectparts.com is the only other place ive found a digitizer specific for the optimus s/v and there site is down due to major shipping delays. this should work tho, ill just have sprint branding on my OV from now on. Im gonna give that LED customization a try on my old front housing to see how it looks then if its nice ill do it on the new one, or maybe not haha it was a frickin hassle to get this new digitizer, i dont wanna do anything to jeopardize the function of the new display. thanks again for the one and only response in days . look forwarding to sharing the good news

I was pretty sure they're the same thing, people on another forum have talked about using lg's updater to flash sprint firmware and only broke their service instead of bricking the phone.
makes me wanna dissect the newest sprint firmware and compare.

Yeah it's really tough. I sell them for both models and it's really a hit and miss if it has buttons on the case. If the volume/power button part is open, don't even bother not worth it. But with the buttons on the case, you have to wear it to know for sure. Check eBay. Search Verizon lg g2 case and you get quite a few choices. Hope this helps you out.

Are you saying....the phone doesnt fit in those cases? or you mean you cant hit the buttons? do you have any photo that you put on by any chance to look at?

No, it's not currently possible. If anything changes it will be posted on XDA. Most versions of G5 can't get root over a year after release, so don't get your hopes up.
Currently only:
H850, H830, H840se & RS988 have root.

Buys LG G4 dead just after 1 year.
Gets mum to buy LG G4... also dead just after 1 year.
Buys LG G5 H860N... constantly crashing and rebooting, supplier says the phone has been rooted without viewing it based on a screen shot of a corruption/don't trust message. I don't believe it's even possible for this phone if I'm right? Right?
The short of it is... based on trying to find support online for LG phones... they are a total bit player in the industry, don't support their products and anecdotally are very poor quality. I won't buy another LG product ever again.

I actually spent most of the day looking and I didn't really find anything decent. I think it might end up being that another phone model case fits this phone like the Alcatel Plex but I do not know this For sure..mchere are some links I found where the title says it's for the TCL 10 pro case but they are not that good:
