First of all, it should be asked in Q&A.
Are u rooted? If u are just delete the cameraclick.ogg in system/media/audio/ui. Make a backup before u do. (in case u mess things up)

I saw a post where someone was stuck in a boot loop after deleting their camera sound on the Rise. Did this happen to you?

Yes there is an apk file do to it. Let me see if I have it on here. Gimme a second.
Edit.
Found it. There you go. Just install that to SD card, then go into apps, and click on enforced silencer check it on, and you're good to go.
Thanks

Let me know if you have any issues. It's what I'm running on my phone.
Better yet hop on root explore and go down to system>build propt mount R/O and change the "0" at the end to "1" and save change and reboot. ro.media.capture.shuttertone=0
I forgot who came up with the tweak but not I.

I recommend this more than the custom apk. This method is built-in and in case for some reason you want the sound back, the option is just a checkmark away.
The apk is also just a check mark.

If you're rooted all you have to do is use Root Explorer and go into:
/system/media/audio/ui
Change the name of "CameraClick.ogg" to "CameraClick.bak"
You can do the same for the video record sound...simple.

Yes, but doing the build.prop mod allows the toggle to be done from within the camera app which makes it much easier to toggle, as opposed to having to switch to another app.
No need to install anything. The easiest solution is usually always the best.
Yes. I didn't know you could do it from the app. Though easiest isn't always best.

No problem.
I'm trying to delete the file and it keeps saying it's read only iv'e tried changing the permissions and also the r\w on top no dice, lol what am i doing wrong
I just use Root Explorer and go to System/Media/UI then rename the Camera_Click.ogg to Camera_Clik.ogg just changing a single letter works and you can always restore it if wanted.
(You have to be Rooted)

Remove camera shutter sound :How to

Root required download root explorer via market or4shared app
Go to
System/media/audio/ui
Set system to rw then delete
Delete camera sound ogg.
First copy and save to it to sd first incase you want it back cause delete is permanent.

Good method but I think it is better that in case you change your mind later.. just rename the sound file.
That and the camcorder sound can be renamed to so no one knows when ur playing spy while recording that girl you like LOL..
it's possible to go into the framework (i believe) and just change the value of shutter sound from a 0 to a 1. reboot the phone and you will have the option in the camera menu to turn the shutter sound off and on. much better way. you will have to remember to set it back to 0 though before trying to take any update from motorola.
No root required to shut off sound. Google Enforced stream silencer.

I agree, instead of having to do the method described above just apply the Google Enhanced stream silencer apk and be done with it.

i used to use that but i like having the option. my kid likes the shutter sound when i take a picture of him. when he's sleeping i turn the shutter sound off so he doesn't wake up.
i was also having reboot problems with my first photon and if i had that enforcer program the start up "noise" wouldn't happen so i would know if my phone was starting to freak out.

Because I'm trying to use it on my Note 3 but it does not work.
So I wanted to contact the dev directly.
Thanks.

Truncated / Cut short SMS Notifications

Hi guys,
I'm having a weird bug with SMS notifications on my S3, when I get a text it will cut short or sometimes not even play the notification sound. I've tried various tones, restarting the phone, changing the settings off - reboot - turn setting back on, but nothing is sorting it... Anyone else had this issue and been able to resolve it?
Thanks,
J
Same problem here, its totally random.
I've noticed this myself a few times as well.
I had it, I changed to a different notification sound and that fixed it. Not sure if you can go back after? Whistle annoyed me so didn't try.

Do you keep your phone screen down on a table, there's a motion settings to mute ringtones if the phone is placed screen down on a table.

Where is the notification sound for NFC confirmation?

I don't like the stock notification sounds that is played when using NFC tags or wallet. I am currently using NFC task launcher with my tags. I can change the confirmation sound in the app but it still plays the stock sound before playing the one selected. Does anyone know how where the stock notification sound is located so I can change it. I have root explorer and I have search for it but I can't find it. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, many of the Android sounds are stored inside of.apk files which take a bit of tact to open, remove/change the sound file, repackage/sign.
Sometimes sound files are stored in the file system where you can access them directly with programs such as root explorer, but many system sounds are compiled into apk files such as the framework-res.apk file. Most apk files you can open in 7zip or any zip type of program, but modifying them can be a bit tricker. Themers and ROM devs usually have the tools handy to complete this task.
If you feel adventurous, there are plenty of guides around on how to modify system .apk files.
Hope that helps gives some general idea of where/how to look!
is this the sound you are referring to?(open zip to hear)

For some reason it wont play. I just flashed CMX so it might be a bug. I am gonna go back to viper4g when my phone is charged to a safe level and I will try to play the it then.
Edit: I got it to play, unfortunately thats not the sound.

Its the end sound. I just checked. I never thought to look in the nfc apk, brain fart. One question though if I replace the end sound with something I want and mess it up some how do I stand a chance in bricking the element or does it have nothing to do with the secured part

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 Sound settings->Music effects won't open?

I recently got a legit App called "Bass Booster", I'm sure some of you have heard of it. But it never worked for me, so I tried going to the music effects tab in sound settings of my GS3. When I opened it I remember seeing two things: MusicFX(which it was on) and Bass Booster. I clicked bass booster thinking it would fix my problem. That didn't work either, so i went back to music effects to change it back to MusicFX, but it wouldn't open saying "settings has stopped working". I tried restarting it but It still doesn't open. I deleted Bass Booster and nothing. I got a new Bass Booster/Equilizer app, and notta. What should I do? HELP PWWEASE!! :fingers-crossed:
