Is there any way to know which speech/voice codec (HR, FR, EFR, AMR...) is used during a phone call?
Also, is there any way to control which codec is used? My old nokia had an option (or code) to toggle between HR and FR.

I just got the StrTrk (in the form of Dopod S300, which is what it s sold as in asia, mostly), and I already updated the ROM to the new Cingular test ROM.
But I have a problem: when I set an mp3 file as a ringtone, the volume is quite low, even at theloudest setting, it's not as loud..compared to the other ringtones (in othr formats I guess) which are intalled by default.
This even happened with the default Dopod ROM which came with the phone. So is there a workaround to this? Should I convert the mp3 to something else? Any info would be greatly appreciated
Anyone facing this problem too? Any help will be really appreciated
the phone isn't that loud in general...
but this is unusably quiet :S
all i can suggest then (since still use .mid files) is to look for a audio program that will increase the sound lvl of the mp3
What is the audio level of the MP3 to begin with. Most of the ring tones have been compressed and equalized to get every bit of audio possible out of that tiny speaker! Try loading it up in an audio editting program and maxing it out (but not clipping!) - should help
In an audio editing programme, look for an option called "normalise". This will search for the peaks in the ringtone and calculate the max it can increase the amplitude - hence max volume.
You might also try looking for an option to compress the dynamic range too - do that first, then normalise.
Cheers,
Jessica
use mp3gain ... very good mp3 normelizer and freeware
try this #[HKEY_CURRENT_USER-ControlPanelSound-Categories-Alarm] "InitVol"=dword:9
#[HKEY_CURRENT_USERControlPanelSoundCategoriesRemind er] "InitVol"=dword:9
#[HKEY_CURRENT_USER-ControlPanelSound-Categories-Notification] "InitVol"=dword:9
#[HKEY_CURRENT_USER-ControlPanel-SoundCategories-System] "InitVol"=dword:9
#[HKEY_CURRENT_USER-ControlPanel-SoundCategories-Ring] "InitVol"=dword:9
#[HKEY_CURRENT_USER-ControlPanel-SoundCategoriesIn-Call] "InitVol"=dword:9
dont forget to unlock the regystry before try to edit this settings
это боян со времен мрх200 однако ж работает и на startrek
Or convert your mp3's to wma!
They are definetely much louder!
maybe the WMA encoder has a by-default normalizer built into the encoding process?
not many MP3 Encoders do that by default... so boosting the gain isn't always easy.

I'm still searching a valid way to record the calls, currently I have the H7 PLK-L01 B380.
First of all, i've tried to enable the stock call recorder of H7 (in EU is disabled due to the privacy policy), i've followed various thread on XDA on how to enable this feature, i've done all steps, but when i try to start a recording, this immediatly stop and giving me an "Unknown Error" message.
Then i've tested the following apps:
- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nll.acr
- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.toh.callrecord
- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boldbeast.recorder (recommended for Huawei devices)
- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skvalex.callrecorder (paid app)
But all of these at maximum record only by internal device MIC (all other recording methods not working), then my voice is clear and loud, but the voice of others have a very very low volume, because that is recorded by MIC that come from ear's speaker.
So, someone know a valid way to record the calls in Both direction (Caller and Called)?

Mmmh but what are the pro and cons of removing EU version and installing CH version?
Are there any apps that actually work? I've tried Cube ACR, Total Recall, ACR, SKValex ... I tried all their settings (particularly sound source settings), and none of them to proper 2-way recording, i.e. the other party is not audible (only my voice is). Some apps try ugly tricks like boost the audio volume and record from the microphone so that the other person can be heard very faintly, but all that does it distort my voice as it's too amplified.
Note: this is for the Exynos chip, not Snapdragon.
Note2: In a different thread some folks were claiming that CUbe ACR or SKValex or Total Recall are working, but I can confirm they are not. Or at least not for me.
I know it's possible to reflash my phone with an India/Indonesia CSC, but I don't want to do that (too much to reconfigure, some banking apps then also want my passport again etc and I don't want to extra impersonation exposure).
Did you solve?
