another way is go to your file manger app,go to system->app->find something like com.vending.apk or something like that->delete it and install a new play store from the gapps file by extracting the file and install the new play store

tried that.. still can't find whatsapp in play store.. this sucks ..
any other solutions? I can't be the only one with this prob right
Did you check if there was no filter in Playstore parameters ?
Hi,
I am having the same problem after installing an AOKP Maguro rom.
I have lost not just whatsapp but many other apps. in the play store.
The strange fact is that I have been using this rom since march and never had a problem before......it looks like that something has changed on the play sore lately.
try finding the APK file and sideload it....works for me with apps that have been removed from the market place

That happens because of the play store restore function which restores all your older apps back to the new rom... Happened to me a couple of times... What you can do is switch off data connection and install all apps manually yourself
Those apps you haven't installed will be still sent when you switch on data, just go to respective app in play store and cancel each ongoing download
PS: Try changing the backup and restore function in settings

Thanks will try!!!!

Also try disabling automatic update of apps.
Try clearding data/cache.

Which ROM? CM Nightly 2012-11-11? I haven't had problems with it.
Which Rom and which gapps ?

Besides the questions asked above, what is the error message you're getting?
I assume you're talking about the cm9 nightly. I haven't had any problem with it, and I'm now running the 11/25 one.
Something you could try is backing up your user apps with titanium, then do a factory, cache and dalvik cache wipe, then reinstall the rom again. Then restore your user apps. Flash the appropriate gapps then run the gapps fixer utility. Do a search for it, it's in here somewhere
Hope this helps, good luck.
If you are talking about one of the errors that don't let you download or update apps, I ran into the same problem. I fixed it by going to "System Settings -> Accounts & Sync" then removing the google account. Then when you open your Play Store App you can re-add your account.

Eclipse rom with safestrap.

Installed 2 days ago, I lost safestrap and the ability to reinstall my apps as well as, SD card reads 30 GB remaining of 64 yet I have no access to my SD card.
The only apps I have are preinstalled eclipse apps.
I get an error 110 every time I try to install anything whether from the play store or not.

Did you install the Safestrap .apk after you did the ROM then run the "install recovery" from within Safestrap after you did your ROM?

I should have stuck with hyperdrive.
I can use my phone and internet but the play store is out of commission for me.
I've wiped and deleted and force closed about everything related to downloading an apk.

It sounds like it'd be best if you ODIN'd back to stock and started over.
If nothing else works try the dreaded Odin route
Sent from my Beastly powered S4 using Tapatalk
Any links you could put me on for the Galaxy S4 ?
Also why is Odin dreaded?
Don't need to odin. Just simply download the apk, copy it from your SD card and paste it in your system/app folder. Once pasted, change permission to -rw -r -r. Now you'll see it in your app drawer.
Off-topic: There's something wrong with the default containers services on that rom. Everyone thinks it's a Google Play store error, nobody even bothered checking the logcat to see why...lol...I haven't gotten around to trying to fix it yet.

You're not trying to install it automatically. You're installing it manually by playing it into your app folder and changing permissions. Read my post and follow it and you will be golden, the concept is the same for all android devices
Eclipse comes with a file manager included.

[Q] android 4.4.2 "hosts" file Google Play problem?

I'm on android 4.1.2 rooted LG G2. I had to reset phone after removing root. I then got root again but now Google Play Store was missing. I tried downloading a Google Play .apk and Google Play Services. I edited hosts file and added # in front of second one. It worked for some minutes but stopped.now when I looked at hosts file, it's empty. Now when I open hosts editor app it says error parsing hosts file.
I tried clearing app store and google play services data and cache but it don't work. It's the hosts file that's empty. I took a screenshot of what it was before it went blank. What do I do to fix it ?

If your not rooted you really can't fix it. What more than likely happened is you somehow created more than 1 Google play file inside the system/app or data/app folders. You need root to remove them

I said in the post I got root again after I did factory reset. Now play store isn't working.
What are the file names ? Are you talking about two files the same kind or two .apk files installed ? I tried searching and didn't find anything. earlier I tried uninstalling play services and play store and reinstall one from online. What do I do ? Without reset phone ?

I had fixed it after reinstalling firmware because after trying something it got stuck on startup and wouldn't start into android.
