12 hrs is not a good battery life I usually get around 18-22 hrs with moderate use, wifi on for 6-7 hrs. I have removed all the bloatware, which itself eliminates useless battery draining processes.
End of the day it all depends on your settings and use. But Leaked JB is well known for bad battery life. Hope that gets fixed in official release.

My battery life was crap on leaked JB. Cant remember exactly on how long it lasted but it didnt feel long compared to other roms.

At first batterytime was not so good, but after 2-3 charging cycles, and disabling all bloatware it's quite good, easily lasting 2 days with lite to moderate use. Seeing the same on NeatRom Lite 4.0

Debloated, philz kernel and stock battery...
Crap imo. But also seem to have a few wakelocks. eBay I think...

It looks like batterydrain is good when not using the phone much, but not so with more use. I have been using it a bit more than usual today, and after about 7 hours from unplugged, and a little more than 3 hour total screen time (minimum brightness), and 1,5 hour web-browsing, 1 hour playing music, the battery was below 15% (screen using 45% of battery) and I'm really not too happy anymore...

Around 1½ day i believe. But normally ill charge it at night where it has around 20-30% left
edit:
Usage: Music(+DSP), SMS, a few calls, Web browsing (2G/3G/Wifi). Dont really play any games but I do watch musicvideos sometimes which is takes around 15minutes.

Lmfao yeah that happens. But you can get Power Saver form the market. It really works. What it does is clock down the processor depending on what profile you set the app to.
Even though, today I haven't used the phone much and it's been discharging from 16 hrs and it's still at 60% (with Power Saver turned off). I've only used it for light texting today and that's it. 3G is what sucks the battery dry. Sometimes I use Edge only (2G) and the battery lasts me a whole day and more. The other day it lasted me a whole 24 hrs and it was still at about 19% left. I'm guessing the battery can last long or short depending on the usage.

With Juggernaut Rom, brightness turned down and web/wifi off I can literally get like 3 days almost if I'm not texting heavily. As soon as I turn internet on I'd say a max of 12 hours. The best battery life I ever got out of it was BeastMod, CPU underlocked to just 1ghz and brightness turned down. Even with web on, still got me almost 2 days - sync off.

Batt stats are very inaccurate, most appear to drain quickly in the first 80% then slowly for the last 20%. However its worth doing an 8 hr charge every so often (preferably with phone off) because battery uptake can get lazy over time. Particularly with Samsung.

Nope, I usually use my phone for music playing and web browsing over wifi.
If I only listen 2 music(8-9hrs a day), the battery goes down to only 35%. And Gaming depends which type of of games are played, in case of HD gaming(which demands more than 40MB RAM. the charge will drop at a rate of abt 10% every half an hr. Based on my daily experience.
Thks for the reply. Nevertheless a good rom. I shall continue even if battery drain abit much.

The post I responded to was talking about gaming + music all day. If 8 hours of music gets you to 35% then it will only take (by your calcs) 1.5 hours gaming to kill the battery inside that same 8 hours. Hence me saying 5-8 hours.

Question about Custom Rom battery vs Stock ICS Rom

So after 2-3 weeks of playing with stock ics rom which i update over the air, i decided to root and install custom roms. I flashed Speed Rom 4.0. However, I feel like that the stock ics rom battery is just better than the custom rom. My use of amaze for a day is 2-3 hours of listening to music, 2-3 hours of web browsing, 2 hours of gaming ( tower defense ) and that's when I come back home and my stock rom battery is left with about 30%. However, when I flashed custom rom, I notice that my battery drain faster than before and after a regular day of using I only end up with about 10% left. Anyone has insight on such problem like this?

I mostly care that my battery can last through a day. My NRG ROM will give me a day easily, with about 1 - 2 hours of screen on time over the period. A lot of it depends on the strength of the 4G cell towers around you (in my experience); the phone uses more juice when seeking towers. The latest NRG is pretty good at not "hunting" for 4G.

Keeping the screen on will dran the battery since that's what screens do.
Regardless of the device (including laptops), screens always take >50% of the battery.
Could you show the screen-on time?

Let me venture a guess. When you get a new phone, you tend to play with it a lot, hence the screen on time and battery drain Give it a few days, it will be fine -- this phone has great battery life.

The battery needs to go through a few full cycles of drain and charge before it's reached optimal performance. First week battery drained more but now it's performing brilliantly.
Just keep letting it drain completely and charging fully a few times and have auto brightness selected.

I've heard that li-ion batteries don't suffer from memory issues and there's therefore no reason to calibrate them or run them in any specific charge/discharge cycle.
If you ask 100 different people about how best to use your battery you'll get 100 different answers. Don't worry about it, just enjoy the phone.
Hmm. This phone probably has the best battery life of any android phone I've owned, and I've had a few.

Tripe.
Minimum of 3 cycles to reach peak performance. I have flashed hundreds of roms/kernals, it ALWAYS takes a few days for the battery to normalise.
Op, take a chill pill, calm down, post again in a few days. If you're still having drain, it will be down to an app or your settings.

Battery life

Okay so I was wondering I have a galaxy s2 and right now it's rooted and running CyanogenMod. I'm also overclocking and it's been rooted for about a week now. What is the average battery life for the galaxy s2 because I feel like my battery is going too fast. If I play games in the car for 20 minutes 10 to 15 percent is already gone. Sometimes if I search the web for for 3 minutes I would lose the percent of battery.

Yes thats an overclocking disadvantage. Turn it back to default i.e 1200 Mhz and try using Sleepy or ondemand governor combined with noop or SIO as i/o scheduler. And find out the background apps like facebook which drain your battery. You'll find much difference. Hope this helps you.

yes .. thats well known when the phone is overclocked .. normally (default CPU settings) running custom CM or AOKP you should get around 2 hours of screen on time.
