Hello, first post
Now I have an HTC flyer and that means I am stuck with HC firmware or perhaps maybe GB.
There are a lot of fully functional customized HC ROMS out there, however when it comes to ICS or JB
most of them are buggy and never fully functional.
I am not a developer so I don't think that I have the right to criticize, however from what I see
many developer start an ICS or JB Flyer ROM and than just leave it.
It would be great if you people create some sort of a joint effort and make one stable and functional rom for the flyer.
Some would say just leave the flyer and buy yourself a Nexus or whatever but the thing is there are countries in this world where we can;t afford to just give up on a device and spend money on another one.
So what I would like to have is either an ICS or JB ROM where everything would be functional, however I could live without:
(and these are features that are already not working on the present ICS/JB roms)
-bluetooth
-front camera
-youtube HD (but only HD if regular youtube is missing is not OK)
-videorecorder (however this would be disappointing)
But It wold be awesome if Phone is implemented and Pen (Quill is acceptable also)
So far best ICS ROMS are Yetki (where only problem I had was that wi-fi was not functioning even with manual flashing of the boot.img)
Also another new ROM is this one NexusFlyer in this ROM everything works (except for the above features) but I am not sure if there's a Phone function and the screen rotating is buggy.
So what are you willing to donate towards the developers' efforts? The "you people" in question have lives and families and jobs that require their attention on a daily basis. These ROMs are hobbies for them.
Their works are just voluntaty works.
They don't have any obligation to make roms for us.
They've already done and are doing many things for us, more than HTC
I understand it's a voluntary work and a hobby for most of them, but since they are already doing it, how abot making something that truly benefits people.
HTC has done a horrible job when it comes to the flyer and now we're either stuck woth HC albeit slightly modified, or waiting for the developer community to make something usefull.

I actually wouldn't mind learning how to create a JB or ICS, stable, ROM for the View and Flyer, since there really isn't any. At least for myself.
Where would one start reading?
lets hear from them

Please help.. because I like this ROM, smooth, fast and nice to customs again.
Sorry I'm posting in this thread, because I can't posting at development sub-forum.

Honestly I don;t remember but I think that my phone worked OK, although I didn;t really tested all that well, because
WI-FI wasn' working on my tablet.
There will be an update to the Yetki tommorow (friday) or the next day. From what I saw on the thread
mic/sound issues will be addressed in the update.

Just stop right there. If the devs want to stop developing a ROM, that's their choice. You think what they have done has not truly benefited the people?
It has benefited people no doubt aboit it. Just not in this case, when it comes to the flyer they did better than HTC but I don't see any benefit in using any ICS based Flyer rom, rather than a HC custom rom.
It's complicated simce the Flyer has the scribe technology built in, notes, the e-book reader where you can scribble just like on real paper, front camera, back camera, I understand that it's complicated and maybe it takes time maybe it can not be done.
I don't understand what's with all this negative interpretation of my post, it should be an incentive that we are here we use this device and we would like to see it better.
Also I am not asking the developers to waste time on something useless, I don't need yet another partialy functional ROM, just stop right there say 'we can't do it,it's impossible' and move on to something that will perhaps benefit someone else, some other device. They are developers, it's what they do.

thx for u'r answer, that different with my tablet, Wi-fi and tethering working fine.
yups.. I be waiting for the update, hope today he update this ROM.
Hey, we are not their employer or their customer.
Whether they stop the development, move to other device or etc., it is just their choice.
If they think something is important, they try to do their best to make it work.(Actually, they do now.)
You don't see any benefit on their ICS rom? Just go back HC or give some useful feedback to them.
using :
HTC Flyer ICS yetki
HTC Desire MIUI ICS
It looks like Yetki is getting an update reały soon as in it only needs to be uploaded and shared, can't wait to test it! I loved it even the first time except wi-fi wasn't working, hoping theu will fix it in the update

IF you really want to develop ICS /JB fully functional ROMs for the HTC Flyer , start by learning how to build the kernel. What we are missing right now is a JB kernel for the Flyer, once that is done, its possible to begin CM10 and other variants of JB. However, be aware that building the kernel and the libs (drivers) for HTC devices can be difficult because not everything is open source.
We can't all be developers, I don't think learning how to build ROMs is as easy as the last few comments made it look. I am assuming some programmers would have a hard time doing so if they haven't had any experience into it let alone ppl that don't code. :/

for active wi-fi connection try to rollback to HC ROM (I try use leedroid and fastboot flash boot boot.img event I'm not use s-off from htcdev) after running fine, back to recovery full wipe, and upgrade to Yetki ROM without fastboot *.img file again. test running and wi-fi can active again. for tethering just install easytether.
CMIIW
Thanks I will try that.
Does it have to be a HC ROM because right now I am on Dexter's JB port and If I don't have to I'd skip a flash

Continued development of meizu m9 rom is in progress watch this space for updates I'm from desire HD forums but have a nexus one at hand, first thing we need to do is fix wifi.
half way there with Wifi
Then we get onto Microphone
good to see that dev number is not decreasing..
Nice man! Definitely going to keep an eye on this thread!
This is great news!!! it would have been sad to let this rom go wastes.. definitely looking fwd to updates. Thanks man!!!
i Have my own rom as well on the desire hd forums so that will be my main priority but i am working on this as well, so far half way to fixing wifi, it can find wireless networks, but wont connect.
Thanks for this, don't hesitate to put your progress here, maybe you'll find another dev who wants to help you in this project.
Good news, I'll keep an eye on this thread
Looking like its going to be a hard project
But I'm up for a challenge

Since you are already working on WiFi this won't matter too much, but I think getting the mic working should be first priority.

Hey I LOVE YOU. I love meizus rom soo much. It's sad that the original dev for the M9 rom stopped. BUT YOU'RE HERE! WOOT.
On a serious note, I really think Voice would be much more important than wifi. And if you've tried the previous alpha, you'd see that when you pull up the colors are changed ( negatived? ) I hope you can keep that. I think it's pretty neat. Although that's not supposed to happen. I tried the official Meizu M9 before.
I'm still trying been involved with another development thing recently, need to buy another nexus one as i gave mine to a friend to use while there phone is being fixed 4-5 weeks.
I had got wifi working partially but then it froze..
XOOM got ICS port right now, with everything working well (except face unlock, but hey...)
does that mean anything for us Flyer/View-owners? is it possible to port it to our tablet?
would love ics on the flyer
EDIT: Link: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/highly-functioning-cm9-kang-released-for-the-xoom/
what does it mean to us? That the xoom got an ics port, nothing more or less.
Different hardware types and kernels mean xoom with ics is meaningless to us.
My guess is he was asking if there was a way to port it and mod it to work. What we really need to hope for of CM9.x to arrive that will support the Flyer/Evo View.

im not stupid, i know that its a diffrent tablet, but this kinds of ports are being done almost daily.
as this fella mentioned, i was thinking of a mod, to get it to work.
He's not being grouchy, just straight forward. You cannot port a ROM complied for a completely different family of hardware and get it to function in any conceivable fashion. You'd be better off with a SDK build of ICS which would possibly boot if you hacked in a boot image, but none of the HTC specific hardware like camera, BT or video would function. There are already efforts underway to build ICS ROMs. Since ICS is built on top of HC, we have most of the pieces to build a vanilla ROM (no HTC Sense). Once HTC comes out with a working HTC device ICS ROM on hardware that is similar to the Flyer (yes some of their phones use similar hardware) that will be the port we want for ICS /Sense Roms.
I would love to have ICS on this device. Considering how much dev interest the blowout sales have generated I think its possible. But I am not going to how my breathe. I have a galaxy nexus but my evo view is still my primary device due to its pen and large screen. My wishlist for the next iteration of this device is: lighter, ICS, sprint 4g LTE in that exact order
Hopefully the fire sales have pushed HTC to keep going.

yeah i know, but since ive seen others with ics, that made me a bit inpaitient
htc sensation got the ics leaked, and maybe someone can start by playing with that one.
and i dont really care if its manilla or sense, both will do good dont think flyer/view will be getting any ICS official soon, since HC just was released.
if i seemed grouchy, it may be because I am a comp sci major with aspirations of being a software engineer. I view the question as either yes or no and then explain the logic why not. No intentions of rudeness, but I tend to assume I'm talking to ppl with similar backgrounds... At least on the net anyway.

We are keeping an eye on the HTC Sensation leak. Right now there are 2 or 3 pages of things that don't work and of course its a different radio and HBOOT. So its a ways out from being useful as a port other than a novelty. By that I mean you might get something to boot, but none of the hardware functions like camera and touch screen would work.
May want to wait for something more stable to port..sounds more like a way to brick a flyer than a novelty.
How much difference is there between sensation and flyer? Also is the radio relevant for the WiFi flyer.
I keep forgetting the are 3g versions of the flyer.

ok, sounds good though!
whats the chances of a HC/ICS mix then, do you know? i mean, using what might be working in ICS (the best of it) combined with the useabilities of the HC.

1. ICS is built on top of HC so we already have most of the ICS GUI. Google is already moving some of the ICS features into individual apps like the updated Google Search.
2. Radio is always relevant because it controls GPS, Wifi , and BT in addition to 3g.
I am looking for a custom HC or ICS ROM without Sense and a few other customizations. I posted a job in the Job Market but have't had anyone contact me yet. I used another ad as my template but have no idea what most of the qualifications that I listed even mean but I figured that they are relevant. (lol-I can follow directions to root and flash, but that's where it ends) I'm not sure what is possible in terms of my wish list, but we have to start somewhere. I just sourced 40 HTC Flyers and have my work cut out for me having these ready in the next couple of months.
The dev community for the flyer/view is small (but dedicated!) here. You might do better to either place a bounty on it, so others could help, or maybe contact the cyanogenmod team to see if a donation/support pledge would spark interest in a port of cm9.
I'd love to see cm9 on my view.
edit: I see there is a bounty thread here

If you want a ROM without Sense, DeSensified HC is the best solution for know (still some Sense elements but it's pretty clean), Chaosz-X, I and many others are trying to get an AOSP ICS working, but it will take time to get it stable. So until that dream comes true I recommend DeSensified HC.

That is what I running right now and considering that the developer says it's his first ROM, I am impressed. It works very nicely so far. I did have a wifi repeated disconnect issue but was told by another user that it's a HC thing and not the ROM. It was suggested that I assign a static. Did that and seeing how it goes. On another note...I wasn't aware that offering $ for a ROM could possibly get me into some heat here so I edited my post. Someone clued me on that and I am grateful. It would suck big time to get banned from here. This place is such an awesome resource. Feeling "bafoonish". Anyway, I have a little more info than I had an hour ago, so thank you both for putting in your 2 cents!

Hello XDA,
As you may or may not know, the official CM9 Project for the HTC Amaze has not died at all. It is being worked on by developers like +Max Krivonos.
I am making this post mainly in hope of educating myself in regards to the development process and things realted to it.
I've been following the project since the day they released the video of what Max got working on the Amaze already. Over the course of many months, cable detection, SD card, and "wifi" was fixed. There are only problems like GSM and the Camera left. Now I understand that Max has been busy with a lot of things considering his comments on his update posts seem to say that, but I am just curious as to how long does it really take to get things like that fixed?
My HTC Amaze is only my second Android device to my HTC Sensation which I only had for about 2 months. I have never really followed a project exclusively so I have no idea as to what the average timeframe is. However, my main concern is that Max "opened the repo", and a leak for the ICS update already came out. Shouldn't this help a lot? There are already many developers who are pushing out very clean ROMs based off of the leak, and there's only around 2 problems with more than 1 developer working on the issues. How long does it really take?
I didn't want to bother Max and other devs by asking them because I'm sure they have a lot of things on their hands anyways. Like I said before, this is not meant to be negative in any way. I simply want to learn about this, because I have been very eager waiting for CM9 like everyone else.

i may be wrong so don't hold me to it. but i believe they need the wifi drivers which htc has not released yet to fully remove sense and get everything working. like i said i'm not positive but i think i read that somewhere else.
I think someone said Max quit working on it, and has posted his build online somewhere. As the poster above me said, it is because of the lack of source code atm. Once the ICS leak becomes "official", HTC should release the code. Keep in mind we're not really supposed to have this leak at the moment.
Max posted over a week ago that he was stopping his work on it as "he is just too busy" and released the repo.

Gosh, I had no idea because I couldn't find anything like that on Google+
Who will be working on it? I guess another thing i'm trying to ask is if it's impossible to derive the source-code from the leak.
Well I definitely understand were your coming from but I think we just have to be patient like its hard trying to pull the drivers that are specifically made for the sense it takes time to try and rework those drivers for an aosp rom so I guess it would be wise to just be patient and wait to see what spot or xboarder is doing. I know xborarder is on android-dev.us and he's working with a couple of ppl on a Tom so just be patient man.

Salam Mahdi,
That is the old update to ICS that we already have. There is no need to update as everyone is on the latest firmware anyway. HTC is never going to update the Amaze. It's long dead. RIP. You know it's dead when it's completely removed from HTC's main website. :crying:
Also, HTC only has 100 people creating updates to HTC Sense. No wonder it takes forever. A lot of staff also QUIT HTC, it's a doomed company.
Also, the general rule of software updates is to NEVER UPDATE WHEN ROOTED!!!! You might brick your device or break something. Whenever something gets updated developers pick apart the update and just make it flashable for us. If you wanted to update something you would have to unroot, re-lock and then flash a RUU to get back to complete stock. Then you'd have to update manually. But there is no need as this phone is at the latest firmware.

It's actually "you're" and not "u're" lol.
Using the word "you" instead of "u" sounds more professional.
I think the Amaze is on it's deathbed now. It never was a famous device to begin with, nor did it last. It still lived up to it's name, it was on par with the One S (except the One S had a more up-to-date chip at the time). It was HTC's putrid attempt to fix the Sensation's RAM issues by releasing a new device, but they killed both the Sensation and the Amaze in a few short months! This is why HTC is stupid in my opinion and suffers financially. If HTC cared about their users they would at least give us and Sensation owners stock 4.1.2 Jellybean like Samsung did in the Galaxy S III I think you should upgrade to a better phone when you have money. :good:
I'm going to develop for the Amaze again when the ION kernel comes out (maybe it won't even come out cause everyone is too busy  ).
But time will tell what will happen. There have been all sorts of crazy things in our forum.

Yes it's on 3.2 now. It's as stable as a BOULDER! There is not much left to do to that ROM. I might bake something later when I get time. It's a nice stable stock-look ROM to always fall back on.

Thanks SuperAfnan.
I appreciate Your work for the Amaze. I thinks it has a powerful hardware and it should be updated by htc. but htc left alone us and now we just have you developers you're (:laugh our only hope, because we cannot afford for new phone
Edit: is there any links to vote for updating amaze?

The problem is that HTC doesn't care, and Qualcomm doesn't support the chipset any longer!
Luckily, an ION kernel from a dev like Sportsstar (there's others working on it too!) would let us port Sense 5 or Sense 4! And JB Sense 4.5. That would be the rebirth of the Amaze. Until then, we're in a sinking hole.
thank you guys, you'll find a way, i know it
