if you don't want to unlock your bootloader just get rooted & install CWM. There are alot of custom roms that supports locked boot loader too

Hello!
I own a XPeria Ray now and already managed to Root and unlock Bootloader.
I installed X-Parts from Google play.
I entered Recovery and did clean Data/Cache/System. I installed OptiMax 3.0 Rom.
But now my Recovery is gone?!?
In XParts it says its only in System, so it sure is gone. But how can I get a permanent Recovery like on my old HTC Evo3D?
I need some Security if Flashing goes wrong.
Please Help!!
And I'm Sorry, i did search in the Forums but couldn't find a Solution for this.

Flash any custom kernel for Ray in your development forum. The custom kernel has cwm integrated in the ramdisk (permanent), and will not be removed unless you flash a new kernel. Download the kernel, and flash it either with Flashtool ot fastboot -i 0x0fce flash boot boot.img
Try flykernel for stock ics. It is very good.:victory:

For locked bootloader you must install cwm again when you do a full wipe.
If you want permanent recovery, then unlock your bootloader and flash a custom kernel.

He has already specified that he unlocked the bootloader...
Try installing a custom kernel
Because the CWM (which is installed with xParts on unlocked bootloader) is not in the kernel so if something happens to your System partition, CWM will be gone.
You can install it by unlocking your bootloader and flashing a custom kernel such as mesa. MESA 3.3 will give you dual recoveries (CWM & TWRP).

No, you can flash CWM straightaway.
And don't forget, YOU CANNOT RUN CUSTOM KERNELS ON A LOCKED BOOTLOADER. YOU CAN ONLY RUN STOCK OR STOCK BASED ROMs.
say no to Drugs and ICS!

You can install CWM Recovery without unlocking bootloder but you have to root your phone first.
If you unlock your bootloader, you can flash any custom kernel which is built fir your device which will have CWM Recovery in it. i.e, you don't need to install CWM Recovery separately.
Once you have the CWM Recovery, you can install any custom ROM.
& don't worry, ROMs are built in large packages so that they're compatible with a number of devices. It doesn't mean that whole package will be copied as is to your root. Instead, you'll have some more free internal memory....

Happy Flashing!

tnx, so what do you recommend, unlock bootloader-----flash cwm-----and rom. Kernel and rom are in same file everything could be flashed from device, cwm ?
tnx again
First decide whether you want to unlock your bootloder or not. I recommend you to unlock your bootloder but it WILL void your warranty but you'll be able to do alot more than Locked Bootloder like using custom kernels & you'll be able to flash ANY available ROM built for your device.
So 2 options for you:
1. If you want Locked Bootloder:
Root Your Phone > Install CWM Recovery > Flash any stock based ROM using CWM Recovery.
2. If you want Unlocked Bootloder:
Unlock your Bootloder > Flash any Custom Kernel (Which is compatible with ROM you want to install) > Install the ROM using CWM Recovery.
For unlocking bootloder & other information, follow this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590383
Can I install a custom ROM on a device with unlocked bootloader
I use an application for work which checks for rooted roms and one of the checks is if bootloader is locked.
I cant unroot as ALL (including rootcloak plus) has proved to be unsuccessful with the application

Unlocking is not the same as rooting and vice versa. If your bootloader is unlocked use flash tool (with drivers installed for your device) to flash a custom kernel to your phone. Most kernels add root access. (Check by using a root check app after flashing). With a custom kernel installed, then flash a custom rom via the recovery menu, most likely CWM.

Fully understand bootloader and rooting. My point is that the application I need to use will check if device has unlocked boot loader
Other thing it checks for is
1) SU
2) number of superuser apps
3) bootloader status
4) busybox files
5) root status
6) if RUM is custom ROM by checking signature
7) build.prop entries to determine if its custom ROM (e.g. releasekeys and testkeys)

Have you even installed a custom kernel or did you root the phone? If not, root it or simply flash a custom kernel (which automatically roots the device)
Hi guys,
After seeing so many issues with unlocking bootloader, I decided to root on a locked bootloader. However, is it possible to install zips on a locked bootloader? Eg. V4A?
We have a working recovery for locked bootloader (see [NUT]'s dual recovery in the cross device development section). So yes it is.

Hi ,
I have to revert back to latest MIUI ROM from CM13 ROM [ locked Bootloader]. I have read other threads too but theres never a clear answer.
First of all I dont have any backup of any MIUI roms. I want to do a clean install of latest MIUI build.
What do I have? : Alka TWRP, CM 13 with locked bootloader I think.
Can someone please tell me what do things I need to revert back with steps?
Do I need to unlock the bootloader first then flash the lastest build of MIUI with MiFlash tool? or the bootloader needs to unlocked later after the flash?
Or can I install MIUI recovery rom? with ALKA TWRP?
Flesh miui rom via edl method using mi flash tool.
download fastboot rom and flash via mi flash.
it will lock ur bootloader so unlock it via mi unlock again if u officially unlocked.
off course this method requires a PC.

In the developer mode settings, enable advance options to restart. This will give you the option (on long pressing the power button) to reboot into recovery. If by this method you can get into recovery it would be alot easy to flash the MIUI ROM (which you can get for your device from the official miui rom download site).
If you can't get into recovery, you will need a PC/laptop.
