This is probably the most pointless thread that you will ever read on the Rez forum, but I had to post it. When I first got this phone, there wasn't much going on in this forum. Around Christmas, when we got the phone unlocked, this forum just blew up.
I just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to all of the developers, themers, modders, testers, and trouble shooters who are making this phone so amazing. I know that what they do isn't easy. They don't do it for the money. They certainly have other things that they could be spending their time on that would be considered more important. They have lives just like us. They just do it because they love to do it, which I think is awesome.
So if you have a second, give an extra thanks to all of the devs, themers, and modders that are making this one of the best phones on the market right now. Maybe even toss them a couple of dollars for their hard work.
Another huge thanks for the work with the ICS leak. Now we have amazing ICS ROMs for everyone to use. The devs are seriously outdoing themselves. Make sure you donate or at the very least hit the thanks button on their threads!!! Doing that is free and it shows that you care that they're working their a**es off for you.
I concur. I am so grateful for all the time and effort the devs have put in to make our Rezounds the best it could be. When I get the chance I will definitely put in a donation to help the cause :-D

We need to show more appreciation to developers. Too many times do we as a community demand stuff from developers. I am sorry for any trouble I have caused and I hope developers see this thread as I hope it grows. I hope to support others to get involved too so we will never run out of stuff to do. We all need to be more open also. The more we say you can't use my work the more we look like apple. I understand people need to give credit but using work when giving credit should be smiled upon and will only result in better roms all together. So thank you to all who work on android phones.

Yeah definitely a BIG thanks. I remember around thanksgiving time we were all almost at each other's throats, arguing and bickering about S-Off. After the HTC-Dev unlock and ROMs started sprouting, the conflicts drastically decreased. Mainly in part to the Devs dropping ROMs for us to flash, and to our wonderful MODs keeping us in check. Once again thanks for all that you guys (and gals) do!!

A huge Thank you to all the Devs ! They work tirelessly for the love of android and developing, but its nice to send some donations their way for all the hard work. After seeing the hours that were put in on bringing us ICS and still maintaining a life and work it is amazing at what they do !
I am new to xda and HTC phones , before that I had an OG droid which I am finding was impossible to mess up compared to S-on Devices so its a learning curve. I have seen so much help amongst posters and devs that I have been able to learn on the go and avoid any major mistakes !

I definitely appreciate the devs and donate when I can but at the same time I'm 100% addicted to flashing roms/mods/etc and someday I'll probably need to seek help, so I thank them the same as I would the guy who cooks the meth.

I would like to start this off by saying that I know we some great devs on this device who, I'm sure, will make some awesome ROMs/Kernels and I appreciate everything that every developers puts into any device whether I use it or not! Thank you all!
With that out of the way, I would like to start a donation thread to get JoelZ9614 a Transformer Prime. I have already PMed him to make sure he was willing to do this and he is completely up to it. I would also like to say that he has not asked for anything from anyone. I am doing this because he has done a lot of work for the community and never asked for anything in return. It's not that he needs the money or the device. I started this because he is another dev that we can add to the TFP and someone who is proven to make quality ROMs. I'll be donating my $15 to him either way. I just thought it would be a nice gesture to show him that the community values devs like him and others enough to help them out a little. I can see why devs are leaving XDA left and right.
These devs do this stuff for FREE and a lot of them never ask for anything in return and there are people who insult them and are completely ungrateful. I don't know how to develop and I know these devices aren't cheap. This is my way of helping them out for helping me keep my device new to me. I have had the same phone since the Evo 3D came out in July and I still get to flash new ROMs every week. I don't get bored with my phone that will be way outdated here very soon! I can't afford to go out and buy phones/tablets every time something new comes out.
EDIT: Guess I should have looked at your join date and post count before going into all that. If you haven't been here before this month and haven't flashed a new ROM or kernel, there is no way you'll understand. It's about appreciation and respect for the devs.

And your point? It clearly says that any threads are done so by your own free will. Nowhere does it say that they cannot be done and I personally have seen them work and seen a few devs get devices. I'm not saying that anyone HAS to do this. It would just be a nice gesture to a great dev.

Hell yea man! Thanks for stopping by this thread. I love your ROMs. You were the first to do a lot. I haven't been genuinely impressed with many ROM devs but you and a couple others have really impressed me! We need a dev over here who can not only compile CM9 but keep up with it.
It seems that everyone who has put CM9 out isnt even maintaining it. Hope we get to see what you can do with this beast!

Man, no love for JoelZ huh? That sucks. Would have loved to see what he could have done with this thing. He made some badass ROMs for the 3D, which doesn't even have an ICS leak yet. Could only imagine what he could get done with something that has official ICS.

That's true and it sucks. I hope development doesn't halt on this thing. I would hate to have to sell it. Especially since I love my Prime+Dock.

I think a lot of people (myself included) are waiting for the supposed GPS/WiFi fix that is supposed to start happening near the end of this month. I personally will wait to see the results of RMAs to see if I will send mine in. Can't send it in if the warranty is voided.
I have used Joel's PrimeXL for the Evo and I still use it to duel boot between Honeycomb and ICS. It would rock if we could get him to develop for the TFP.

I got this idea while lurking on the rezound general forum, and a lot of people have really pissed off the amazing devs that offered their help to bring out the most out of the phone. Yeah, it might be a little late to be making this, but with the Eris being my first phone, the community here has pretty well taken care of each other and the developers stuck with us, at least, until they got a newer phone and moved on. My experience in the rezound forum has been a little less than savory, especially in the last few weeks. All of the trolls and wannabe heroes that tell the trolls off have made me remember and miss the good old days here. It's been too damn long, and these devs deserve a thread where we kiss their asses (no sarcasm) To all the devs that ever worked on the Eris, thank you for all of your hard work.

Thank you ... I haven't looked in the Rezound threads but I've heard its pretty tough there at times. I've found though, that instead of trying to be defensive with them, just call them out, let them know you really don't care and tell them to f-off .... They run back into hiding with their tail between there legs haha.

Thanks as well. This forum introduced me to the whole rooting experience and allowed me to keep using this phone long past what I would have put up with if I had to remain stock.
A a developer I know the troubles with any project and appreciate all the efforts.
Unfortunately I dropped the phone the last week and screen died, so I had to do a quick upgrade. Though about he Rezound but ended up with the LG Spectrum. Nice screen, rooted, but not much in the way of ROM's. Have to wait until ICS comes out.

****ing right. It was a little more then a tear ago I stumbled upon this place and took took the plunge to root my Droid Eris, knowing that I was running 2.1 and would never see anything higher then that cuz the Eris was already at end of life. Then boom rooted unlocked and running gin-tazz. I've been hooked ever sense. Now mongoose is still putting work into this device running 4.0 haha amazing. Thank you all very much

There's so many things he's done for the Eris community, both here and over at AndroidForums, it would be a crime to not have his member name listed for posterity along with all of the other fine folks you listed above.
He is, without question, one of the most knowledgeable folks to have ever posted here at XDA and many, many folks are indebted to him for his help (me included ).

Done, and I added you too. I forgot about your modified recovery that didn't rely on the trackball to be used. I thank you, good sir! That recovery came in handy when my trackball started getting really bad.

The eris was my second android phone after I left T-Mobile and my G1. This community has been incredible. I would also like to thank DS36. He was always willing to help out noobs like myself and his tweak thread was pretty awesome. This really has been the best community I've seen here. I miss the good ole days of kaos froyo and gingertazz. Thanks to all the devs that made the eris awesome. And thanks to jcase for making it easy to root my kindle too.

I miss this forum a lot. We still haven't got s-off figured out for the HTC One S. It's pretty sparse over there.
But man, back in the day this place was humming all day every day. Workshed made it a beautiful phone. Even compared to the phone I have now, it seems like it flew. I know that's just the nostalgia talking, but I don't care. GSB is a great rom.

I'm just an old fart that likes to tinker with electronics. I am by no means anywhere close to being a developer, themer, ect... I just like tinkering with my phone. I've lurked these forums a couple of years now trying to take in as much as I can. I came over from SDX (HAXSUNG) when I retired my Moment and got my OG Evo. All I can say at this point is "WOW" what an awesome site this has turned out to be. A BIG Thanks to most all members for being so helpful, brainstorming and working together to make our phones unique and better than ever. Everything I've ever learned was from reading and researching these forums. I've never had to ask a question nor have I ever needed to. Simply put, I follow instructions to a tee and never have any problems. Again, Thanks to all the Devs out there for the awesome work that you do.
Anyway, the reason for this post is not only to introduce myself but to also let everyone know that if you do your research, you will find your answers without asking. Of course there will be exceptions, we all know that. I just purchased my new EVO LTE and wanted to get it unlocked ASAP to tinker over the 4th of July. While reading the forums to understand how to accomplish this, I noticed alot of people were having problems with S-off via Lazy Panda method. I was scared at first to even try, but I had faith in the Devs that they know what they are doing. To make a long story short, I followed the instructions perfectly and achieved S-off without a hicup
I've come to the conclusion that most issues that people have here (not just for our phone) are a failure to follow instructions. Do your research people, take a chance once in awhile, you will be very pleased with the outcomes you achieve on your own.
Awseome site, keep up the good work all you Dev's, themers out there. Your work is very much appreciated by people like myself.

The worst part of people not reading is that when they ask the question that was answered hundreds of times on the same thread it clutters it up more and makes it even harder for someone else to read and find the answer to begin with.

I'm a middle aged fart, and I can't wait for the kernel source to drop. I developed a couple kernels for the EVO shift and I am very anxious to get a kernel built for the LTE...

I've come to the conclusion that most farts that people have here take a chance once in awhile and turn into sharts, you will be very pleased with that outcome.

Sad to see you left the rezound. I totally understand though. It's rough over in that forum. I was looking at switching too but I'm shocked there isn't at least root for this phone. Anyway just wanted to say thanks for all your past work and I wish you well in your future endeavors as well

root will come, same thing happened with the Rezound, htcdev worked at first (unofficially) then months later it was back officially.
same will happen with this phone IMO, AND S-OFF is being worked on already, the Rez took 6 months before S-OFF had interest

I wasn't going to say anything but this kinda annoyed me because it reminds me of the little babies that were running around the rezound forum... I fire up my computer and i see that some little kid or kids rated this thread real low and I'm trying to figure out why, so if you guys don't want me to dev for this device just let me know... Don't be afraid to speak up that goes for the the devs to... If you my being here bugs you that bad I'm all ears and if so ill be gone... And if it was not anyone from here that did it thats fine also I just don't want to waste my time here if im not wanted

i didn't see anything like that, ????? i think people are getting antsy waiting for something, i'd just ignore it.who cares what they say!
I dont even have a DINC or Verizon in this matter, however, every place has trolls. You can't ever get rid of them. It's up to you if you want to dev or not. Nobody is forcing you. I like the smaller communities since you can get to know people and make more connections. I'm trying to find a way to "crack" HTCDev's method for unlock_code tokens. I want to do this to learn and to have fun. People will bash me, even though they are idiots. I just report them to a mod and the mod will handle it and keep them in check. Overall, do what you gotta do.

I wouldn't pay much attention to it. I don't read threads because they have a high rating. I read them because they have an interest to me. If anyone is able to send you a dev phone I very much doubt the rating will scare them away. Besides, your rep as a good dev means a great deal more.

I agree. I have never and will never rate a thread. Either it applies to you or it doesn't. If I have a problem with what's going on in the thread, I'll address it with the problem poster.
It looks like whoever did it don't want to speak up anyways so problem solved ill just wait for root and work on one of my other devices...

I don't even own this phone, I'm still on a Dinc, however I just voted the thread 5 stars, does it impact the difference of you dev for this phone or getting a used phone to dev on, it probably won't or shouldn't. I also sent the email, about the bootloader, and I spoke with VZ exceutive office about the locked bootloader, is that going to make a difference to VZ on unlocking it, probably not, but I did it for the group cause, because I would like to get this phone.
Honestly, it's guys that have the time and talent like yourself and other dev's that help make these phones what they are, if you aren't interested in this device, that's your decision too but I think 99.9% of us don't have the knowledge you do on these phones, so we greatly value your work, and would like to see you and others help us out, while we try to do what we can to help out.
I don't know what happened to the REZ forum, but I've heard it was a bunch of BS Drama, that I've never seen on the Dinc forum, maybe your burnt from that experience, don't know, but I wouldn't let a thread vote sway your opinion on this group here.
thankfully newt has an Inc4 and will be up and going once root comes.
Some people are so unappreciated of the hard work done by devs that it amazes me. If I had root on my phone, I'd gladly switch. I've enjoyed your work in the past, newt, and I look forward to the amazing things you'll be able to do with this phone once it's rooted.

I agree. I've been here for 4 years or so, and up until this thread never bothered to notice the threads had ratings. Now that I am aware of the ratings, I will continue to ignore them.
I hope you get a dev phone so we can get the show on the road. I'm still trying to find patterns and see if i can "crack" the generator/algorithm HTC uses. It'll be hard and time consuming.
