I've flashed a few different roms (trying to get around this), and i can't get flashtool (latest version, just downloaded yesterday) to recognize that my phone is in debugging mode. it flashes fine, no issues, then i disconnect, restart the phone, turn on USB debugging and allow non-market apps.
then i reconnect, and flashtool always says debugging is off, when the phone says debugging is on. i turn off the phone, and reconnect while it's booting, and i get the same result. i can flash all i want, but i can't get flashtool to root the phone, or install xrecovery.
i've searched, and can't find a solution. any ideas?
- Trying Open Flashtool with the phone connected.
- Uninstall flashtool and install an old version of the program
- if does not work, change the cable (I've had a similar problem, I bought a new cable...)
Same issue found my solution
Hey I had the exact same issue but I found a solution.
My device is SE x10i 2.3.3 Generic
What I did was accidental.
I tried the old method of routing gingerbread which was too downgrade using "X10_aZuZu_Kernel_Downgrade_Generic.ftf"
but wat I also did was extract the load & kernal from the original ftf that I used to flash my phone with in the first place and put them into their own bundle so I could restore them.
After Flashing with the aZuZu downgrade
I disconnected the phone and turned it on it was stuck at the load screen where it says Sony Ericsson so I connected it again and my pc started downloading drivers.
But I installed the SEMC USB driver in the first place so I was wounder wth was goin on.
It turns out that in order for this to run smoothly you must make sure ALL DRIVERS are installed I personnally thought there was only one driver lol.
So you need to download the SEMC MASS STORAGE driver and 2 others (can't remember the names) perhaps the easiest way would be to just install the latest pc companion not sure but anyways this worked for me.
hope this helps
Hello,
i got a little Problem with my X10 (2.3.3 - rooted) and my Notebook (Acer - Win 7 64 bit).
I tried all ways to install the driver to use USB-Debugging but it won't install. The Device-Manager still tells me SEMC USB as unknown
I tried the usual way, start the phone with holding 'back', install the drivers manually...
Are there any other ways to get it working ?
Same goes for me,
Device manager states that the device is unknown, flashtool not working, PC companion no hope (connected to different USB ports including those of the motherboard).
it used to work but no chance now.
it charges normally from the USB (Orange LED) but would not connect to the PC.
Details:
Windows 7 x64
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
Bootloader Unlocked Xperia X10 with 2.3.3 ROM and Doom's Kernel (the latest one)
The guy here says it is related to either windows windows update or faulty cable

I tried removing and installing PC Companion but it didn't work either.
Any help guys?
Changing the computer had no effect as well
You must install SEUS ( Sony Ericsson Update Service ). Only SEUS will install right driver. Problem with SEUS is that when you look on SE official site, they tell you that SEUS for X10 no longer persist, and they guide you to PC companion which is crap.
Try this: try to connect your phone with PC, in flash mode. PC will try to install your phone driver but it can't find it. Then in Action Centar, on PC, (a small flag in sys tray, right down corner of a screen) find solution for this problem, and windows will automatically find SEUS over net. Install and enjoy.
from X10i via XDA premium
tried that but no luck as well (even in flash mode SEUS can not detect the device)
Thank you
hello i found a way and it worked for me download flash tool and extract it look for a folder called drivers in there u will find something called ggsetup-2.2.0.10
run this install it and all done
@huzi7868 thank you for your help
However, that didn't succeed and I reinstalled windows and drivers again, but still not working
Even no luck when the phone is in flashmode
Just tried it on a third Computer and checked the cable but the cable is working on another HTC Desire but not on my Xperia X10 (I mean my X10 cable), however they are both charging
try flashtools, there's a folder called 'drivers' in it, open it and click on the installer

I agree, I also have solved in this way.
Download the latest version of Flashtool and after installing it you will find in the "drivers" folder the file "Flashtool-Drivers.exe".
Run it and select the drivers you need. Then connect again your Xperia X10
I really appreciate your help, but I had done that 3 times and on different computers but "USB Device not recognized"
As I sad before, use SEUS to install SEMC USB DRIVER. I have win 7 64bit, and I install driver on it. First, install Update service. When its finished, start Update Service and follow instruction (check "Licence Agree" button, and click next, then pick your phone, X10i I suppose, be carefull there is two X10, One is X10, and other is X10 SO-01b. I pick X10 for myself, and press NEXT. Turn off your phone, press and hold BACK button on phone while connecting with PC via USB. HOLD till you see message to release BACK button. Till then your driver will be installed.
Download SEUS from here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SBDVZ3DG
@Dzufa Thank you, but I had done that before and tried it again, whenever I connect the phone pressing the back button the green LED illuminates and "USB device is not recognized" appears and nothing happen after that, SEUS just behaves like nothing is connected.
Try with this one. And I think you must be online, because SEUS must download some files.
I really did that and of course updated SEUS, as I said green LED illuminates and nothing happens even in flash tool (it used to work for ages but suddenly it stopped, it only charges)
BTW, I had flashed many kernels and ROMs before it happened so I am quite familiar with flashtool and SEUS, I unlocked the bootloader using 9lucas method and it worked after that I installed XSP ROM and the USB worked as well, however after 2 weeks or so, one day I left it connected it to the PC and I found that the phone turned off and refused to power on, I left it for a while in the charger then powered it on and it powered on, then it has refused to connect to the PC through USB since then.
Hello everyone,
Yesterday I have bricked my Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo (MT15i, Stock ICS .431 kernel). I was ready to install a custom ROM from CWM, I wiped the battery status, I made a factory reset, then I tried to install the ROM from SD card, but the ROM wasn't there because I am dumb and I forgot to put it in SD. So I restarted my phone and discovered that my phone was bricked.
It freeze at Sony logo (it doesn't make a bootloop) and I can't enter in CWM. It was not the first time when I bricked my phone, so I knew that I have to reflash the original kernel. I opened FlashTool but it says it needs the drivers installed, so I installed them from Flashtool/drivers folder but I get the same message. I tried to install also the adb drivers and the drivers from Sony's site but nothing changes.
The problem is that I can't use flashtool.
Some aditional informations:
- my phone was rooted ;
- my phone had the bootloader unlocked ;
- my phone was running the Stock Android ICS firmware (.431) ;
- my phone was rooted and bootloader-unlocked from the same PC, but a different OS ;
- the adb drivers were not installed on my current PC (I have reinstalled Windows so I don't have the drivers installed) ;
Is there any solution for me to unbrick my Xperia Neo?
I couldn't find any way to unbrick it.
I put some screenshots to see what I see.
Since you have unlocked bootloader you can flash a kernel so that you will get cwm back... From there install rom you wanted...
Or try using flashtool from a different computer...

R: [Q] I can't use Flashtool to unbrick my Xperia Neo
If you have done what you have writtten it should be not bricked, just phone cannot load system because you have erased it with factory reset.
So now if you have bl unlocked the fastesr way is to get a kernel with cwm inside to install a rom compatible with that kernel (try suave v6 or lupus or night elf for ICS). To flash kernel you have to get fastboot drivers then use flashtool or command line.
The other way is to flash a whole stock firmware with flashtool in flash mode, then do what you want.
The flashtool problem seems to be missing drivers, so my hints are:
-try to change usb port
-try to change usb cable
-try to reinstall flashtool flashing drivers (you should find it into flashtool folders, if you can't then search over the internet)
-try to reinstall fastboot drivers (when you have drivers you need to disable windows driver signature check to install it, search the internet how).
Are you trying to flash a firmware connecting phone in fastboot mode (blue light)? If so you are wrong, to flash a firmware you need to enter in flash mode (green light). I'm saying this because I see S1tool driver in windows and that is shown (as I know) when you connect phone in fastboot mode.
If this is not working I don't know how to help you.

Thanks man, I really really wouldn't understand how to fix my phone without your help
Here is what I did and what happened:
1) I installed the following drivers from Flashtool/drivers/Flashtool-drivers.exe
- Sony Ericsson Xperia arc, neo etc. ;
- Flashmode Drivers ;
- Fastboot Drivers ;
2) I chose "MT15_4.1.B.0.431_Global.ftf", the stock ICS kernel from Sony ;
Connected in flashmode (GREEN LED) ;
Windows updated automatically S1Fastboot ;
Flashing failed!
3) Chose "MT15_4.1.B.0.431_Global.ftf" (the same kernel) ;
Connected in flashmode (GREEN LED) ;
Flashing succeeded!
4) Boot up - finaly see the XPERIA logo.
I solved it in 10-15 minutes, the first boot took like 3 minutes. So simple!
The flashmode and fastboot drivers were missing.
I lost my root and I have relocked my bootloader during this but it's not a big deal, I can anytime get them back. Also I had a ROM backup in SD card, made with CWM, so I can get them back.
Hope someone with the same problem will see!
Thanks again Bertellio!

Go to the place where you installed flashtools then inside drivers folder find an app called "Gordon's gate " install and open. it'll automatically reset drivers.
Next time you can connect it normally in flash-mod (may be asked for drivers, you can install from "drivers " folder)
Have luck:beer::thumbup:

Open the ftf file with winrar.
Extract the file named kernel.sin on desktop.
Connect your phone on fastboot mode and install the kernel.
Connect the phone on flashmode and install the rom.
Should work this way mate.
To use fastboot mode you have to install phone's drivers.
Again the phone does not stay in flash mode or fastboot mode because i keep getting an error.
PLease read the post before replying.
Did you install fastboot drivers besides xu drivers? Theyre at the very end of the list.
