As I understand Free sim allows the phone recognize any sim company.
1) how does it work? I mean do I unlock the sim or do I unlock the phone
2) how do I do that? I tried to search the forum but all I found is roms

First have a look here for a guide to SIM unlock your phone => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1064978
Maybe this already works for you.
If not, there are some Galaxy SIM unlock apps in Play store available ... have a look at their descriptions and decide if you want to try one of them.
Some need a rooted phone, some only work after (in-app) buying.
Good luck !

Hi all,
I have purchased a samsung galaxy vibrant from a USA seller and I live in the UK. The phone will come with no sim. I want to be able to use it in the UK on the vodafone network.
Can anyone advise me please on how best to deal with this situation - I am android challenged so please be gentle. I have done some searches but didnt see any answer to this specific type question.
I am not sure if T-Mobile Samsung is sim locked but am assuming it is but maybe you guys n gals may be able to advise me more on this.
Thanks in advance
If its from a tmobile store it will be locked. Expansys and other online retailers are selling them unlocked meaning they're prob unlocking them prior. You would need the code. The codes are also stored on the phone in the nv_data.bin but you need root to access it that way. There's a market app to get the unlock code but that prob won't help you. Best way would be to root, copy the nv_data.bin to your pc and use the windows utility to get the code. Then the phone will prompt for the code with your sim inserted. Hopefully they already unlocked it. Search the forum for the unlock procedures, they are well documented.
Thanks for the reply I really appreciate your help on this. Person I bought it from has just contacted me to say that they got it from T-mobile themselves in a 2-1 promotion.
They said "I bought the phone from Tmobile without a sim card. The associate told me that you can unlock this one with an unlock code".
Sorry for such a noob question ... When I get the phone will it be able to be root the phone with no T-mobile phone sim card in it? Can it be rooted with any sim card or no sim card?
Thanks in advance.
Hi guys. I recently bought U20i and i want to remove sim lock on it.
I am not serious unlocker or seasoned phone cracker but i used to unlock my nokia and my SE via some usb cables i think decade ago LOL. From my experience one need to know exact phone spec and according to this there should be some archives and programs which can be executed to sim unlock phone.
I already tried to use search option and i've read quite some threads without any success. I see similar threads already exist here but they all mostly end up in arguing about something other with no real and relevant resource. Some say that it can't be done freely, some say that can be done only via ordering unlocking code, some claim that they did it by flashing rom etc.etc. Very confusing. Also i am bad at english so it's pretty hard to find what i want. Hopefully you'll take my honest apology for opening same thread all over again but i really hope that this time someone will post some results.
So basically here are my question:
Can i SIM unlock this one via my own usb cable and some sort of flasher, patcher or whatever is called? If answer is no then no if yes could you provide link with tutorial?
Once when phone is sim unlokced can i put custom android on it without loosing sim unlock capability? I am asking this since i read here that some people loosed their sim unlock after they applied custom android. Could it be the case or this is just some sort of user side error..?
Is there any benefit to upgrade my phone with custom android? I have 2.1update1. If i upgrade to bigger version am i going to get something special or just different look of icons?
But mainly i am interested in sim unlock. If there is some sort of debranding involved etc. i really don't care i can accept whole new factory settings, just as long as phone will support english.
Thanks in advance for any help
i think you should be able to sim unlock your phone whit this
http://omnius-server.com/
but i'm not sure about it i've never tried it, just read about it in some post.
wait for someone with more experience before trying it
Thanks matte. I just checked site. Seems ok. If one day license will allow me to make permanent unlock then it seems worth it. I mean this:
Full and permanent unlock
Allows you to perform the permanent change of the network lock status of your phone. After further flashing or customization it will remain unchanged.

Then just receive the nik code to unlock! Sadly this only work for Chile :c
rophiroth thanks for help. It won't work for me though. I am from Europe. Thanks anyway.
Anyone with omnius experience?
There are a few people here who have used Omnius. I don't believe it's free. I'm not aware if you can unlock this free yourself, but I am interested too so I'm subscribing to this.
As for re-locking via new ROMS, I thought that only happened in some situations when unlocking the bootloader. The bootloader unlocking threads mention that some people have had a relock but that's not the case for everyone and I believe it might be if you do something wrong.
Ok guys i sent email to Omnius. If they give me positive answer i'll do it with them and I'll report it here clearly, i mean my results. So in future everyone will know about this.
Kind regards
My phone was sim unlocked when I have been unlocking bootloader.

You simply need to wait for results. At the moment everything seems a bit tedious about U20i sim unlocking. Please be patient. I'll post my result when possible.
I unlocked an E10 with Omnius... This is what I can say:
For unlocking, it works easy and clean, includes all your drivers, you just need basic widows "driver installing" knowledge.
It's the cheapest one I found for 1 phone unlock.
In theory, Omnius unlocking is a permanent solution for SIM unlocking...
In practice: Currently you can't unlock the bootloader of an Omnius SIM-unlocked phone. So if you are interested in modding, don't use Omnius today. Use unlocking codes instead, multiunlock or setool2.
--edit:
davinci is cheaper than omnius, but also lacks bootoloader unlock also.
Sim unlock
Hi.
I'm looking to sim-unlock my X10 mini.
i have searched a number of threads and this one came closest to answering the question
This is my simlock info:
(x) Network 5
( ) Network subset 5
( ) Service provider 5
( ) Corporate 5
( ) SIM 0
From my understanding I'm not able to use a code to remove the sim lock.
Are ther any other options avaiable?
Thanks
Yes, you can...
Insert a sim from another network.
check if the unlcok menu appears after booting the phone. If it does, you need to order an unlock code from a trusty site (it takes more or less 1 week).
Cable unlock is a bit more difficult (lots of drivers to install), cheaper and instant after purchase.
Or you could purchase a sim adaptor to spoof the network.
sim unlock
i just need some information in unlocking my sony experia u20i
i got this information
[ ] network 5
[ ] network subset 5
[ ] service provider 5
[ ] corporate 5
[ ] sim 0

No, it does not mean you can use any sim card.
my phone is network unlock, i cant upgrade my firmware via seus or se pc companion. but you can use flashtool to flash roms
thanks you both, after searching ive finally gathered it has to be sim unlocked by
factory, network provider.
using sites like http://simlock.com/ and da vinci team does this affect the bootloader unlock? i.e. flashing different kernals? im sure i read in the bootloader post that using 3rd party unlock your bootloader is locked again?
so for instance if i sim unlock from the sites mentioned, is my boot loader relocked or will i have to unlock it again after sim unlock?
at the moment my x10i is network locked to orange but 2.3.3 root/unlocked bootloader via flashtool.
I went whit cellunlocker.net
the best, used it on 3 phone.
takes about an hour to receive a code
and it do NOT interfere whit unlocking the boot loader

Hi,
I gave my S3 (stock rom french carrier bouygues) to my son and order a new sim to a different carrier than the original one
Sim arrived and my son, try to install it
The problem is that he answer sim 4 digit code a lot of time when network unlock (carrier unlock) code was asked
My S3 has more than 6 month so I asked my provider to give me the unlock code...
They did but it doesn't work.
Call again.. they told me that carrier unlock code input is limited and if the unlock code doesn't work I had to send it to Samsung to unlock it.
I spent my week end to try all possible unlock process exposed on this xda amazing forum and didn't succeed with anyone
: Voodoo with and without Patch and busibox, GalaxSim Unlock, menu *#197328640# ...
Result ;
Voodoo & GalaxSim can't read SIM unlock statut
Code *#7465625# doesn't work
*#197328640# doesn't have the Unlock Phone menu ("Menu doesn't exist)
All those process has been done with new installs, wipe each time (makes me going mad!!!)
Is any one has a solution.
Thanks for you help
nb : hope my english is enough good to make my problem understandable...
No, with the new efs format all the previous unlock methods don't work. You'll need a service centre.

It was S3 MINI but also on xxemg4 baseband...
Might not be anything but did you upgrade to version 4.3 ?
If you did this might be the problem, I have an S4 that is locked to Bell and have tried multiple sites and Bell directly, all gave me the same unlock code.
When I tried to enter the code it kept saying unsuccessful
My guess is that along with the update Samsung locked some security feature for unlocking the phone
Right now my option is to sell the phone or wait until Samsung launches a new update

Hi all
looking to unlock my galaxy s3 which is rooted on a custom rom on firmware 4.3
i understand its very difficult to unlock this phone for free on 4.3 and it looks like a paid option may be my only choice.. however when using free applications to unlock my phone they all cant read the current sim lock status which is slightly worrying. (i used vodoo, galaxasim)
to confirm i checked by using another carrier sim into the phone and it did indeed ask for a sim unlock code, so im not sure why none of these applications can detect the sim lock status
so im looking to purchase an unlock code and i hope it will work! can anyone recommend any options for me or is a paid unlock code the only solution
