Anyone having Navigation issues after JB update? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I'm having weird issues with Google Navigation. Google Maps works fine.
The navigation app freezes and doesn't follow my movement. When I go from portrait to landscape it cuts off half the screen.
Any way I can reinstall or update Navigation? It's not showing in play store like it used to.

I am having the exact same issues that you are describing. Have tried rebooting several times to no avail.

Gonna give this a shot to see if it corrects my navigation crashing too. Thanx for this suggestion....cross my fingers
Edit: as a side note, anyone with the navigation problem, have you done complete firmware software and hboot update or just the os update with older firmware? I only did software change and kept my old hboot etc.

Are you all running completely stock, locked, no htcdev unlock, root or anything? The reason I ask is because gf has completely untouched stock elte and gonna see if she has these problems, maybe its just us unlocked/rooted users having problems. Just another angle to think about possibly.

Ok thanx for the info, so far hers didn't crash yet in the 20 mins or so I messed with phone...mine usually crashes in the first 5 mins...so I will keep tabs on hers to see if it happens on her phone tomorrow.

I am unrooted, completely stock everything. Everything worked well before the JB update. After the JB update, everything still works with the only exception of Google Navigation. Maps works well, but Navigation starts acting up within a couple of minutes. I tried clearing the app data and cache, didn't help either. Symptoms are exactly the same as the OP. Turning phone sideways cuts screen by half, no rendering, gets unuseable. It finally sends a message that the app stopped working.
Interestingly enough, the old TeleNav GPS Navigator (used to be called Sprint Navigation) does work, but that app is pretty ugly, and not as accurate. That makes me think it is not necessarily something broken with the GPS, if other apps can access it with no problem.

I've tried everything to make it work and still no dice. Some other user reported doing a hard reset and still having same problem. I've been starting to use Waze GPS.

For what it's worth, tons of reports on other forums on this exact same issue. Even on Google Play, if you filter user reviews by phone, it is being reported there as well.

Ive tried researching this but I have came up empty handed. It appears once my screen is off google talk is logged out. How do I keep google talk always logged in?
Thanks for any help!

I really hope this isnt a wide spread thing. I use Google talk heavily. I cant afford for it to disconnect upon my screen timing out. I havent used it since I activated my phone to test though.
Maybe check under the power saver option in settings. There is an option to turn off background data when the screen turns off. Maybe that's it?

I will try that setting out and report back

Just uncheck auto away status and it will stop logging out.

Is anyone else having an issue where google talk won't load for them? I touch the icon and it looks like it loads for a second then flashes back to the app drawer. I tried clearing the application data, didn't help, and of course I can't uninstall/reinstall

Yup, I have to restart the phone to get it working. I also notice that Restart does NOT restart the phone for me. It powers it down.

I have both of those exact same problems. Hopefully, the next software update will fix these issues.

Google maps and nav.

is anyone else having problems with navigation force closing then making the phone haptic feedback constantly with the newest update?
I had to uninstall and reinstall from an older backup.. This has happened with both my fascinates on miui and on pool party

Yea.. Always starts when i enter a address. It goes to load screen, takes a long time there. Then force closes, then get a continual hepatic, feedback that makes you reboot phone to stop.

ive had nonstop maps issues on eh09, ei20, and eh03, doesnt seem to matter
I've had the same issue. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Maps to see if that helps. So far no other issues, but it's only been a little bit of time. Anyone else? I'm currently on EH03 debloated (courtesy of nitsuj17 I might add).

For me it started with their update that spilt maps into specific versions based on you're phones screen resolution

I have been having this problem for the last month. The only thing that sometimes fixes it is the hold power 30 sec/pull battery then launch maps first.
I have had this issue also. I noticed that clearing the data or cache before using navigation will prevent it from happening.

I had this problem as well. After I reinstall it hasn't occurred again. Hopefully it'll stay that way
cm7 w/ glitch v13
oc 1.4 ghz undervolt -100
Okay nvm, happened again. Though it seems to only want to do it when it's connected to my car dock.
I have also had this same issue. Everything else on my phone is working fine but Google Nav, Waze, or Sygic all crash with a force close error when trying to launch. Reinstalling the apps doesn't work for me.
I haven't tried Wiping data....It might work but I'd really hate to start over again.
Does anyone have an old version of maps I can install that doesn't have this problem? I've been trying to start up maps first before navigation, but I still get the haptic feedback crash from time to time.
Had to replace Pandora with an older version to keep songs from skipping.
Which version of Pandora did you go back to get the songs to stop skipping? Been having this problem myself. Is it possible for you to post the .apk?
Honestly, I was so fed up with Pandora being nonfunctional, I just grabbed the themed unlocked apk floating around here. The version is 1.3 and I haven't had any of the problems since.

Maps 5.8.0 seems working for me. Hasn't crashed yet.

[Q] GPS continuously repeats same directions

I am currently running MeanROM ICS 2.4. When I use GPS, the voice navigation continuously repeats "In a quarter mile" over again for every direction. I've tried to clear cache and dalvik, and I've also tried doing ##gpsclrx#.
When I do ##gpsclrx#, I enter in the MSL, and when I press OK, a message pops up that says "commit failed."
I've searched the forum, and the only thing that I've found was to do ##gpsclrx#, which hasn't been working. Has anyone experienced this, or know how to resolve it?
Thanks
Did you try clearing the app data? I don't know much about the ## command you tried but if navigation is stuck on 1 step in the directions, it sounds like it could be the app. If it can accurately locate you, it probably isn't the Gps antenna or settings.

Did it work under MeanRom ICS 2.3? That's what I'm using...no problems for me.

Just deleted all the sound files in the folder you indicated. Will fire up nav to see if the woman is still dyslexic
Thanks for the tip!

Alarm clock issue after JB Update?

Hey guys, I am wondering if any of you have experience issues with the built in alarm. Mine sometimes does not tend to ring anymore
after updating to jellybean from att over the air update. It will show up in my notification bar asking to snooze it. When I click on this, the screen sort of freezes for a second and does not open the app. Even when I quit the app and try to open it, it just freezes unless I restart the phone.
Have you try clear data?

I will try that for tonight. It happens very randomly don't know why. I have not had any phone issues or updating issue or any of that sort. Except
for occasional lag but could be due to a lot of music on the phone

I had a few problems with my alarm before the update, but it seems to be working fine now. Just go download another alarm clock app from the market. I know it won't look as good, or feel as good as stock, but it's worth a try If your waking up late for work every morning.

Hey, seems that clearing the data has worked so far. I don't know whether its working because of that or not so still waiting till it hangs again. As for downloading a new alarm clock, that was the first thing I had done. But it seems that didnt ring eiher. So i think this was a problem with the phone having to ring,
Ahh, yeah sounds like a phone problem. I hope you got it fixed: )

Google maps home address no longer works

My home address is saved and is correct. It used to work flawlessly forever and then a little while back it started taking me to the wrong destination. The mark on the map is showing correctly. I tried reinstalling and it didn't work. This happen for one of my other stared locations. Everything else is business like usual. Anyone else experience this?

I have had this GPS show me the correct destination when I enter/preview it. Then while driving there its taken me to another place entirely... Saying that I was indeed at the named location but I wasn't even close.
I use GPS all the time for work and this has happened maybe 4 - 5 times. Not sure it completely relates to your saved home location deal but just wanted to share...
