Hi everyone,
I want to update my phone to the latest custom ROM available. I have xperia10i, firmware version 2.1-updare1 and baseband version 2.0.46. Before you decide to loathe me for not searching the forum and direct ranting a question. I did try to get the answer to my query but was bombarded with so much information but reading so much of update info available at the forum. And off-course for a newbie like me these all info was too much. So please I will be delighted if some1 is co-operative enough to direct me to a easy step by step update instructions. Thanks.

Is there any where you can recommend a full explanation of rooting android devices and also installing custom roms to the device?
I do not know anything about this, but have been told that installing custom rom’s is a way to go, when using an android device.
and I have also been recommended the CyanogenMod way of rooting.
I would like a comprehensive explanation and maybe also tutorials for this, for a complete newbie like myself!

there are quite a few links in that thread, can you please guide me as to where to start, i am a complete beginner in this field!
In that post, you should be looking for anything to do with rooting. Only 2-3 have rooting in the title, so they would be appropriate places to start.
Here is a thread that you can start from, my advice is just to keep reading as much as possible.
Also most kernels/thread have instructions in the OP.
Hi everyone, I'm one of the noobs that just started and are trying to flash new roms to our phones and all this cool stuff.
I've been reading the awesome guides from this forum but I think some may be a bit outdated and right now I find myself reading this', where the OP recomends using FlashTool v0.5.3 but as I can see the latest one is v0.9.5.0. Now, I just want to make sure if I should use the latest one or the one in the guide for greatest effectiveness. So, I basically need someone to tell me if I should go with the old one or if someone could make a miniguide or find me one for the newest one.

Newer is better, because bugs will be fixed, just go with the latest... The Interface and features listed in the guide will still be applicable, so you can just follow those instructions.
I'm a noob, I don't understand what is kernel, custom rom, flashing, firmware, odin etc but I want to root my Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 (running official 4.0.4) and update it to lastest android os (Jelly Bean?) in safest and easiest way, can any professional teach me? and explain what are kernel, custom room, flashing, firmware, odin etc...? Your help would be appreciated! And I'm new to forum, hi everyone hehe
Read a lot of the guides.Itll take about a week but well worth it.

No intention to immediatly burn you down when you're new here, but since you are new you should read the forum rules and the stickies first. Everything you ask is already explained hundreds of times, so don't start thinking about rooting yet if you don't know what you're doing.
As said above, first start reading and learning. It's the best way.

You don't need to search so much to find how to root your device.. Well, i'll recommend you cyanogen mod, it's a very famous rom i've got installed and i love it. It works very well, it's JB, increases A LOT battery life.. and automatically adds rooot to your phone. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/index.php?title=Install_CM_for_i9100
You should read guides and stuff, for learning more for your device. In the top of this web, there is a text box to search posts, threads.. If you type in "Custom ROM" you will find a lot of useful information, do the same with all that words you don't understand.
In the bottom of every post, there is a button called "Thanks", if this post was useful to you, click it (just information ). You should do it with every post useful to you, but there is a limit. EDIT: I forgot, please read about root, don't root the phone without knowing what is it. Check en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_rooting
