What do you think of the HTC RC E190 headset? Who has experience with it in our HTC EVO 3D?
i was considering writing a review about this after buying a 3 Pack in purple for 15 bucks at Pennywise.biz

there alot of mentions of this headset online but no real information. its an excellent headphone. there isnt distortion for almost all music. great bass and treble. it can be very loud but its greatest strengths are that its very durable, and has as much isolation as anything can offer.
It does have a Mic and it picks up everything. sounds reasonably good for the other person.
given that it has 3 Buttons, REV Pause/Answer FWD
On the HTC Evo 3D it sounds great and will give you the kind of sound you expect from 50-100 dollar headphones. after a year of using Klipch S4i's i find this better or at least the same concerning sound.
Center button behavior on the EVO 3D with the HTC Music app is the ability to answer calls and hang up, or call on voice search, and to start music, pause music, double tap to make a call immediately.
REV to restart the song or go to previous track, Long REV rewinds.
FWD to skip to the next song, Long FWD will Fast Forward
that is ALL it does. as far as i know this behavior cannot be changed at all. these behavior also occurred thru multiple ROMs including ASOP, Gingerbread, ICS and JB. and the Google Play Music and on PowerAMP and a few other music related apps.
i Also tried it on other platforms.
Ipod Nano, only center buttons does the usual center button related things. REV and FWD are not detected. it also does this on an Ipod Touch.
Samsung TMO S2 T989: the REV and FWD buttons change the volume, does not change tracks, the Center button pauses and starts, double tap skips, triple tap rewinds. this is the exact behavior of the S4i on Iphone and i prefer this to track changing.
HP Touchpad CM10: the center button pauses and stops, other buttons do nothing
HP Touchpad Webos: stops and starts music.
that is all the testing ive done on the headphones, hopes it helps someone.

Nice, shame i hate in ear buds. Ive always found it interesting the way that the buttons do different functions on each makers device.
The Headset profile has always eluded me when going to mod something.

This is my first windows mobile application. It's not the best but maybe it'll be in the future.
This small program runs in the background and checks permanant if a headset is connected to the PocketPC. When the headset is removed accidentally or intenional from the PocketPC, the volume will be set to a default value. This should prevent, that you forget to change the volume or to stop the music playing and so your music won't "annoy" other people around you.
It's very important that you report me every error (maybe with screenshot). That's the only way to make the app bug-free.

Suggestion are welcome on every time.
Sounds like a great application, I'll wait until you have the GUI finished, but definitely would use it!
Sounds cool look forward to gui being done as i can see this being a very handy app.
what a wonderful idea
thank you so much.
Got instructions on how to config the reg settings? Great app. I use my phone as a aux in for my car and always have to turn the volume down for work.
that's really a good idea !!!
thanks
great app!
maybe you can add a feature that it automatically disables the headset when there is call (incoming/outoing)?
this would be for people using normal 3,5inch headphones (no headsets) so they do not have to remove the headphones when they want to speak on the phone!

There aren't many settings to do. A little how to is written in the readme.txt which is included in the zip and also will be installed in your installation folder.

That's a really good idea. I'll see what I can do for you. But first I've to start with the gui to make the app more comfortable.

I'm sorry I haven't thought about this. At the moment there is no way to route all audio to the headphones. I will fix this in the next version and maybe I make it selectable in the GUI.
Thanks man would love tht if its possible my only wonder is how come nobodys ever done it b4? i mean am i the only one who listens to music off of my phone in the library?
Here you go, attached is a simple config i made which lets you change the current app opened when the Headphone is connected
Main Thanks goes to stephj
let me know if you want me to add any other configuration to it
Hi Ather.
Thanks for this little app. I'll finish Version 0.2 including the GUI this evening. Then everybody has full control about all supported features. (Unfortunately my time is very scanty at the moment so it takes a bit longer to do all the work. )
you are welcome , sorry i mispelled it, i spelled it AudioCatcher instead of AudioChecker
here is the code i used :

Can we set this up, so that it autostarts after every softreset?
edit: It does it by itself
Yes, the installation copies a shortcut into the autostart folder in \Windows\ directory. If you don't like to autostart it delete the shortcut. I'll make this optional in the next release.

Hi all
Does some one know any good wired headset with remote buttons (play, pause, forward and next buttons) .. like HPM90 which also shows the title of the song on the LED screen.
I know mw600 could do these things but I would also like to have a wired headset to do above remote functions like HPM90..
Thanks
No replies, does this mean there are none?
I've heard that the MW600 bluetooth headset doesn't show the title of the song on the LED display but you can use it to control your music from Mediascape. I think this is only with the X10 and it can be fixed with a software update. I don't know any other headsets that can do this but hope this helps.
Just got the MW600 bluetooth headset 2 days ago... for some reason only one apk "music player by social soft " seems to be able to work with the AVRCP commands ( forward, backward, stop, play) of the headset...really weird I find.. anyway it is a really good piece of accessory to have with ones xperia x10 ... really good battery life...
I have a MW600 and have found that controls work, however LED does not display the song title.
the mw600 is capable of displaying music titles and caller ID, it's the x10 that doesn't support them... just to clear up any confusion.
if any of you are previous Sony Discman/MiniDisc owners, i really liked how their high end players came with an LCD backlit remote. i really liked the jogdial joystick and the overall look of the green backlight.

Good old days with MD players.
I have the MW600.. it really a great accessory.
really look for next firmware & Android update that should fix the compatibility with X10.
the battery life is great too.. 9 hours of music playback, 11 hours of talk time and 500 hours of standby is really great.

I've also have playback control problem for this:
The Mediascape:
The three playback control buttons only work in video, the buttons don't work for the music.
I have another music app (tunewiki) and the playback controls work for that.
Hope the next update fixes this problem!
is there any headset that is white and have mic?
i don't need remote control function.
Something like the iphone head set
Hey guys, I've been having some problems with volume control on most of the roms out there. Most of the roms I've tried so far seem to have a loud volume at the lowest level. An exception would be Shotock2, which has perfect volume control in my opinion. But i'd like to use other roms based on AOSP or other Samsung bases. Is there a way to edit the volume control in someway? I made this post after I've tried everything i can think of. That includes using fluxxi kernel and its volume control options, using audioboost apps, and using softer equalizer settings. But nothing has worked for me. I was hoping to see if it was possible to edit some file somewhere on the system that allows you to bring down the volume. Any help would be great.
Maybe not the answer you're looking for but, have too tried headphones with a volume control on them?

I've tried my Skullcandy in-ear earphones which i use the most, but i've also tried those Apple earphones and a few others. They all make my ears hurt on lowest volume.
If the ROM you're using has DSPManager, try lowering the bars on the equalizer under 'headset' (after enabling it of course). I know it works for music but I'm not sure about apps and other things
Edit: I missed the part where you said you've already tried this, my bad still worth another shot though, I've had this problem before

You've dealt with this before? Do you remember the actions you took? It would help me out a lot.
I just tried out Serendipity 9.4 and it had the same problem, lowest volume too loud for my ears. I'll try out stock UCLE5 and see if the problem is there too, i dont think it was the last time i ran that rom.

I'm trying to remember as this was a quite a long time ago. On the lowest setting, the audio was so loud that I was able to hear it without putting the headphones on (well, I had earbuds) I had this issue with CM7 and CM9. I went into DSPManager and enabled Bass Booster (it seems to lower the volume a bit) and enabled the equalizer. I set the equalizer to about this (Remaking it to my best estimate to what I had the equalizer set to before)

Afterwards I ran a few apps then played a few songs. It was much quieter than before. What's strange though, is that when I flashed AOKP several months ago, the volume was much quieter and I was able to turn the equalizer up a bit. Sorry if I don't seem like much help, just sharing what I did to fix this but it might not work for everyone. Phones are weird

I've tried this too but i felt like it kinda ruined the point of an equalizer. Thanks for the suggestion though. Honestly I'd stick with Shotock2 if the battery life wasn't so bad on my phone. I love that rom.
I just downloaded this app is called Fine Volume and it works great for lowering the volume down to 1 percent even.

I decided to give the Ice Cream Sandwich OTA update through Verizon a try and now I regret it. The biggest thing that I can't live without with the bluetooth controls not working when the phone is locked. I use my phone for 3 hours a day during my commute with stereo headphones and I hate having to unlock my phone, go to the music app, just to pause the music to hear what someone is saying. I've searched the forums and realized that there is no fix right now, nor is there a possibility to revert back to Gingerbread as of now. Am I completely screwed?
As it is now, I am extremely unhappy with my brand new Razr Maxx, and I wish there was someway to get Gingerbread back. If anyone has ANY ideas, please discuss here.
Thanks,
Seth

If you device is UNLOCKED or haven't flash cdt.bin(ICS) you can recovery 2.3.x.
Settings -> Security -> Allow bluetooth bypass
Although this works for me it is quite annoying: if the screen is locked and phone probably in a sleep mode (music still playing) it sometimes takes several presses or several seconds to respond. Maybe someone knows how to fix this (bluetooth daemon getting killed?).
I wouldn't go back to GB but I miss its bluetooth responsiveness. I get the same 2-4 seconds delay with BT headphones and BT car audio A2DP track skipping and pausing. Interestingly enough skipping to next track is about 2x faster than pausing/resuming.

Yeah, thanks for that recommendation, but the bypass Bluetooth option was already checked. think there's a way to prevent sleep mode while music is playing?
I noticed that bluetooth actions are sometimes not registered until the music is actually started. I'm using the stock player, so I don't know how it behaves with other players.
Again, I'm getting a lot of misses so try pressing several times. Double tapping the pause button should launch the speech recognition; if that does not work then there is a problem with the bluetooth installation, e.g. some core services disabled or killed.
Any updates with this? The Bluetooth still is unusable for me.
Are you using the stock locker or a different one? My problems were mostly caused by wrong WidgetLocker settings.
Also, "allow bluetooth bypass" is only for voice commands, it should not affect AVRCP.
So I'm having an issue with my Nord 2. I'm a gym rat and I use Poweramp. I have a ton of phones and the Nord 2 is the only phone that gives me this issue. And it doesn't matter which bluetooth headphones I'm using, this problem happens to them ALL. The issue I'm having is this...
When I'm listening to music (again, I use Poweramp, i haven't tested with any other music apps) I can pause the music by tapping the earbud. But if I wait more than about 5 seconds to tap the earbud to restart the music, the Nord kills my ability to restart it by tapping the earbud. The only way I can restart the music is to pull my phone out of my pocket and unlock the screen and go into PowerAmp and press play. I will add, once I go back into the app I can also start the music again by tapping on the earbud. So essentially, in order to use all the touch controls of my earbuds, the screen has to be on AND the music app must actually be open on the screen. I initally thought that the Nord 2 was battery saving and killing the ability to do use earbud controlls somehow but i will add that even if the screen NEVER turns off and I minimize PowerAmp and start another app, I cannot get PowerAmp to start the music back up unless it is actually open on the screen. I have already disabled all battery saving settings for PowerAmp and I also locked the app open in the recent apps menu. I have allowed it to run without restrictions in the battery saving menu but this hasn't solved the problem.
I'm totally stumped. Does anyone else have this issue and know how to fix this? Could the Nord 2 be killing some kind of bluetooth service that is required to use bluetooth audio controls that has nothing to do with PowerAmp?
Sounds like global power management is active.
Developer options>standby apps
All buckets should show as active and their state unchangeable. If not, global power management is active. Disable it.
I have a Samsung so not sure where and what it's called on that device. It's a Google Android based concept. I use Poweramp as well and it will kill Poweramp 2-3 minutes after I turn the screen off. Once disabled it will play indefinitely.

I think bluetooth is seriously borked on this phone. Bluetooth avrcp profile doesn't work properly and this might be related to OP problems.
There are other bt issues. I have to restart my phone every few days because phone just stops connecting to any bt devices when the screen is off.

After some googling, I believe you are correct. Definitely seems related to AVRCP profiles. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any fix ATM. Maybe an update to Android 12 on this phone will fix the issue.

Android 12? More than likely it will break more than it fixes... make sure you can roll it back if needed.
Roll back? On this device? Even a roll forward (once rooted) is an extreme pain in A**.

You haven't experienced Samsung's new found incompetence They even put the spen on the wrong side, dropped the SD card slot and forgot their name, Note. That will slow those nasty paying power users down!
12 is a mess across the board, it's not just oneplus. Betaware.
