wifi tether with Jellybean - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I have tried both of the Wireless tether for root users by Muller, Lemon, Buxton to no avail. Has anyone tried these and got them to work?

wifi tether 3.2-beta2 works for me

Did you change anything in the settings?

actually i did but i dont know if it mattered because i changed it back after a minute. but what i did was...from within the app/menu/settings/change device profile to generic ics/jb wlan0 and then to wlan1 and then back to auto. total time changed was less than 1 min. i dont think that it will help but you never know

Ok, just can't figure this out. Had it working on ICS, changing to GENERIC and checking ROUTING FIX. No luck so far with JB.
First, which one should I be using, this one or this one? I have been using the first one for years but see the second one have far more users.
I haven't found anything searching this forum, google, google groups, etc. I thought I have tried every combination of settings but obviously missed the winning one.

The first one you linked would be the one to use. I know the app was recently updated to supprt the GS3 on jb and many people are still having issues. I havent upgraded to jb yet so i cant say if it works or not.

No luck for me on wifi tether attempting just about every combination of settings and versions. What are working settings for all of you?

Works on my EVO LTE (JB Stock and Rooted) using profile Generic ICS/JB (wlan0) and having the following options checked.
WiFi-driver reload
MSS clamping
Routing fix

i can't get this to work i have the same settings on 3.2 beta 2 and superuser3.2 running stock with goodies 3.27 and wont load anyone get it to work? or a hack for the stock?

Yup, I have it working now.
Under "Change Device-Profile" - Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Under "Change Setup-Method" - Auto
WiFi-driver reload ENABLED
MSS clamping ENABLED
Routing fix ENABLED
Seems to me it's working better on JB than on ICS

I tried that and its not work what version are you using? Which Rom? Do u have supersu or superuser3.2

Have you ran a speed test for this with your devices that are tethered to your connection?
The app works for me, but the speeds are noticeably slower than what the phone is pulling on a speed test. It's maxing out with .7mbps on my laptop, yet my phone is getting 4mbps.
I have the same options selected, but I'm curious to know if anyone else has noticed this throttling, and if they have a fix for it.

I'm on MeanBean 1.4 and can't seem to get this to work. Can you cycle the tethering process at least 3 times and get the speedtests? It sometimes works for me the first time then stops. My download speeds should be up in the 20 mbps and its topping out at .82 mbps for some reason. Thanks.

Didn't work. I went and downloaded that specific version also and double checked the settings. Are you S-OFF? That would be the only other factor that could be different. I am S-ON with the latest HBoot and all.

Its gotta have something to do with being S-ON. Did you relock and run the RUU then take the ota,unlock/root & S-OFF? If so how difficult was it to S-OFF?

*WORKING* WiFi Tether config for ICS Sense

After trying a bunch of different configurations, I figured out how to get WiFi tether working properly on the new ICS Sense leak. I am running ICS Deck 0.1 ROM. Here are my settings:
WiFi Tether version 3.1 beta14 (download here)
Settings:
- Device Profile: Generic ICS
- Enable MSS Clamping
- Enable Routing Fix
Also. You can set the profile to Amaze and then enable routing fix.
Both should work.
Thanks

[Q] is there an ICS rom with working wifi tether?

Hi is there an ICS ROM that as WiFi tether working or sprint hot spot, i only tried mean ROM , the first release of the VM ROM and newt ROM and on none of the WiFi tether works, so if any 1 knows how to get hot spot or WiFi tether working via root explorer or any ROM with working tethering please let me know
thank you
I had it working with CleanRom, the cleanrom thread has the info.
The newest versions of meanrom and SOS M Senseless both include a wifi tether app that works if you change the settings. Change profile to generic ics and enable both mms clamping and routing fix.

Wifi tether has always worked on MeanROM and SOS ICS versions. You just have to make sure your settings are set correctly. Generic ICS, MMS Clamping, Routing Fix, etc...

I can also confirm it works with my MeanROM ICS Evo 3D, on both 3G and 4G with the above settings. I just had to set them and then reinstall binaries/config files to make it work. Enable the settings in ripbap's post, then hit the menu button and reinstall binaries/config. Worked for me. Btw, thanks ripbap

2 Questions: WiFi Tether issues and Leedroid Tweaks issues

Been awhile since I been on here but I need help:
1. Any Rom I try I can never get WiFi tether to work (Ex. Cleanrom v.10,Common Sense v1.1,Chubbz Sense 4) it always shows errors in the log.
2. Leedroid's tweaks only work for a few things but I can never seem to get changing the mobile data icon to stick or even change..
I have S=on and HBoot 1.5 I don't know if that has any effect on certain things working or not but if someone can help me that would be great!

Problem 1: You have to use a 3rd party WiFi tether app, set the profile to Generic ICS, mns clamping and routing fix, and then you're good to go.
Problem 2: It isn't a change for mobile data icons, its a change for HIGH SPEED data (4G, HSPA+, 4G LTE, etc etc etc) as for the rest of tweaks, what isn't working? Are you sure you granted tweaks Su permissions?

Is this just the vpn option that is on the phone or is it another program all together. I have unlimitited data on tmobile and i use alot cause i stream alot of hulu plus and youtube. i don't plan to tether all the time however when i have to do it i want to have the option without tmobile blocking me. i have not tried it cause i read the will not allow it.
Not sure what the differences of TrevE Mod wifi vs the original Android Wifi tether (open source):

But I am using 'android-wifi-tether' with encryption with T-mobile stock ROM with ROOT using the following settings:

* Enable Wifi-Encryption: Checked
* Wifi-driver reload: Checked
Edit: I'm using custom Bulletproof kernel from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2233665&highlight=menu

Galaxy Note 2 with T-Mobile Tether Working - Settings are...
Got tether working on Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-T889). Here are the settings...
Rooted phone and installed WiFi Tether - TrevE Mod
Device-Profile = Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Setup-Method = Netd-Ndc(master)
Send Netd Max Client Cmd = checked
Enable WiFi-Encription = not checked (but should work if checked)
Change SSID = (set to my own personal SSID)
Change Channel = 11 (should work on any channel. Used 11 because it is unused in the area)
WiFi-Driver reload = not checked
WiFi-Driver reload 2 = checked
Best of luck!
I got Wifi Tether to work with no problem on my Tmo One. No need TreveE mod either.

WiFi Tether 4.1.2

Running rooted stock ROM. I've tried the Wi-Fi Tether beta app and and stable app. I've adjusted the settings for each according to other posters. Still can't get tethering to work. I'm coming from the razr maxx which I was able to change value of entitlement check to use native hotspot. Is this possible on the note 2? Apart from paying for foxfi, what is everyone else doing?

I have used Treve mod's wifi tether for years...works perfectly on the note 2. Get the APK here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426686 and then here are the settings I use:

Change setup method: Netd-Ndc (master)

Enable wifi encryption: check (set your password)
Wifi driver reload: check (only the first one, not reload 2)
Routing fix: check (might already be defaulted that way)
Thanks guys. I believe I've tried both of those. Must be operator error. I'll try them again.

I have mine set same as tfly except I have driver reload 2 checked instead of 1. Also, I tried at first and it didn't work on VZW remix which uses koush superuser...found a thread somewhere that suggested switching to supersu; I did that and now it works flawlessly. So try super su if you haven't, it might make a difference.
