[Q] No SIM issue - HTC One X+

Hello all,
I have had the no SIM issue on AT&T lately. Does anybody know how to fix this? Is it as simple as flashing a ROM or replacing SIM card or replacing the phone? I'm rooted on Hasoons Senseless QX 2.0.0. Since its basically modified stock it doesn't count as ROM change hence no fix.
Thanks,
Irish

I wish I had something else to say other than a me too, but I've been seeing it a lot myself recently. Everything I've read says that I should reseat my sim card. So I'm going to try that tonight. My local AT&T store told me that I should also reset the phone to factory defaults to solve it. Implying that some app I installed caused it.
Since I haven't rooted the phone yet, I'd be surprised if any app I installed caused it.
Michael

resetting the SIM card isn't a permanent fix, only permanent fix is put a little peice of paper between the SIM Card and the SIM tray to remove the slack and sim issue.

interesting. I'll give that a try. That brings up an interesting question though. If it's because the SIM card is physically loose, why does toggling Airplane mode fix it for me ?
The only thing that makes sense is that the SIM card comes loose, the system detects it and then puts up the message, but never checks to see if it came back.
Still, very interesting.

wow i hope that doesnt happen to me, sounds a bit worrying

yes your right that is what happening it doesn't reset itself. HTC is going to need to make some new sim card trays for everyone

Update: resteating the SIM fixed it for now

Could also put some tape on the other side to create more resistance.

Sim card removed. Please reboot phone.

Over the past day it seems I have been getting this error quite a bit.
I've reseated the sim card a few times, but that doesn't seem to fix it. It will happen while the phone is just sitting there too.
I thought it may have been a rom issue so I reflashed that, but the issue still persists.
Short of taking it in to att I am at a loss. I really don't want to have to put it back to stock, hell I don't even remember how to do that with cwm.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas?

Go to the at&t store and ask for a new sim card and see if that solves your problems.

New SIM fixed it. Just weird as I have never touched it before.
They randomly die sometimes... I had one that took a dip in a creek once... still worked for a couple years then stopped working randomly one day. Hopefully you had your contacts saved to your phone though.

[Q] Invalid sim card

Hi. Once every few hours, my phone will suddenly lose connection for a few seconds and say "Invalid sim card", then it will connect again. It gets really annoying, especially when I'm in the middle of a conversation. Is there a fix for this?
I have this too as well as saying sim card not installed

If you used a sim cutter to cut your sim to microsim ... it may of not been done properly
If not... try cleaning the sim contact points on both sim card and simcard tray
Hope that helps

I heard abt sim card issue on some russian forum.
Its somethig you cant know exacly till you try. I mean one sim card works well, another - not. Even of same carrier.
Its about specifications of sim.
For now is only one solution is to contact your gsm operator and ask for an available sim cards and try one by one.
Had that when I bought the Razr from the Verizon store. I reset to factory and reentered my Gmail and fine ever since.
Something had not setup right the first time.

For GSM users upgrading radio will solve the issue, just take a look at developer section & find a thread : upgrading radio, radio 85P is recommended

Many thanks. it works after upgrade the radio
I have this problem now, **** this **** ****ing whore I need my phone tommorow and now the sim will not be recognized. I am on stock 2.3.6 wtf should I do?
Does this work on Rogers Razr? Mine is randomly doing this and sometimes i turn the Airplane mode and it gets fixed or restarts. So the most viable solution would be to restart the phone... After that, it's all good again. Wondering if upgrading the radio will fix this entirely.

Amaze showing no sim, imei is ok... What could that be?

Hey peeps, i have a problem with an HTC Amaze in here thats not recognizing the sim card. It shows the imei and all that. Radio seems to be fine but then again when it turns on it will not recognize the tmo or any other sim card. Its running 4.0.3 ICS but thats about all i know. It had never been open before i did. Inside everything looks ok. But i know that doesnt mean everything is ok. Could it be the sim card holder? I have already checked the pins that make contact with the sim card and they look fine. Hardware? Software? Any advice?

I only say this because i made the mistake of putting the sim card upside down. All my previous phones were the opposite. lol
Lol! very funny story but this is not the case ha ha... So any other advice will be appreciated. If i find out ill let the forum know what i did...
That happened to my first Amaze. It fixed itself the next day, but another problem popped up. Unfortunately, I had to trade it in and get a new one. Hopefully, everything will work out for you.
Had to use a new sim card when I got the Amaze a couple of weeks ago. It wouldn't recognize the card I been using for for year.

this. i would think you need a new sim card. the imei has zilch to do with the sim
i had to get a new replacement for my phone, kept resetting it and everything flashing new roms, radio would work then go out, got a new phone works great again.

Los of Service on all ROMS

I don't know what to do anymore. I started getting LoS about a month ago and no matter what ROM, Kernel I use I get it about 2-3 times a day. I have to reboot the phone to get it back. I am on stock RUU now and I am still getting it.
I don't know if it could be Verizon because I live in a big city and I get it randomly plus it only started about a month ago.
I am S-ON.
I am thinking about taking it to Verizon, but haven't decided yet. It they give me another phone, won't that come with the new OTA that is un-rootable? Or is it?
Does anyone know what might cause this LoS?
Chances are if you do take it to verizon to get a replacement the new phone will most likely have the new ota.

Yep... I got that crap for the first time... today! Had to reboot my phone to get rid of it. I'm running Viper 1.2 with stock kernel, S-Off...
I wonder if running the stock kernel in this new version of Viper Rom is the reason for my getting the LOS... I've had my phone for the last 4 months... hacked from day one.... unlocked, rooted, s-off... zero problems... now I've been on Viper Rom 1.2 since release... and now this, but NO problems with previous Viper Roms and Cubed Kernel
..... Hmmmmmm

Possible you messed up your radio by being s-off. Have you flashed complete stock? Perhaps reflash the radio? You may just need a new sim card.

I've had no problem with my sim card at all... As far as I know... no problem with the radio either, but have only been on this new Viper Rom 1.2 for just over a week. If it does it again... I'll report, then reinstall the Rom, Kernel, & Image... and report results
Any way to test the radio or is it possibly just a fluke los? Ironically enough... it happened at the exact moment I received one of those telemarketer calls, which was blocked by call blocker... Hmmmmmm...

It's not the Rom, or the kernel, or the radio. It happens on stock unrooted too. It's a known hardware issue with the DNA. If the SIM card is inserted perfectly you'll never see the error, bit if it's not then it can cause issues. Most of which can be alleviated by reseating the SIM, but the most extreme cases require a new SIM.

What do you mean by loss of service? The phone won't recognize the SIM card?
Edit: just saw all the replies advocating SIM card fixes. I was going to say that it is a known issue that Verizon is just ignoring, but that's already been covered. Other fixes, besides replacing or reseating the SIM card, are rebooting and toggling airplane mode on and off. For PUK code locked errors, reboot the phone.

With the tool that came in your phone box, or a small paperclip, or similar item. You just insert it in the hole next to the SIM card slot.

I think my problem is even worse because I'm having tons of signal loss during a day and the message preparing SIM card appears all time. I've tried everything, roms, kernel, radios and no luck. What do you mean with resetting SIM? Taking it off back on?
Finally if i switch to 2g mode I've no signal loss at all, so I wouldn't say it is just a sim issue.

By "reseating" the SIM, I mean taking it out and *carefully* putting it back in. I have not tried this personally, but it seems to work for some people.
The most frustrating part about this problem is that it isn't manually reproducible to check if its fixed, so you can't just take the phone into a vzw retailer and show it to them, since theyll just reboot it and think that they've fixed the problem. I would recommend toggling airplane mode on and off though.

Just an update, I reseated the SIM card yesterday (it had three pairs of scratches on the contacts, leading me to believe this is a hardware problem). I have not had this problem since, even with a reboot and a toggle of airplane mode.

Keeps diconecting from data/cell network

Hi. Been using sense and and nonsense roms for a long time. But my phone keeps disconecting from my cellservice. Thats when i need to input my pincode to unlock my simcard. Could this be a software related issue? I cant recreate it , it just happens. Sometimes 10 minutes apart and some times a couple of hours apart. Please help. If it is hardware related i could send my phone to my carrier but i dont want to lose my phone for 3+ weeks.
Kind regards, vent

So in the same area where your signals drop or Disconnect you did swap your sim in another cell and it was working fine? make sure to use it for a day in another cell to confirm.
