I Installed a custom rom which didnot include Backup and restore app that comes with stock xperia rom. I have backup of my phone in my ext-card. How can i restore from backup created by Backup and restore app. Can i download the stock app from anywhere ? If yes, please provide me link.

hi guys,
i just flashed my x10 to froyo from the original 2.1 rom. Before that i've backup my contacts with backup & restore application now i have the apk as well but i cannot install in on my froyo.. i need help if anyone can make the apk compatible with froyo or guide on how to install it using xrecovery.
Probably not so easily done.
I'd suggest flashing back to Stock and backing it up with another method.

Use MYbackup application which is available in Market..
MyBackup Pro for is working great for me,you can backup and restor your sms,contacts,calendar,music playlist,call log,alarms,system settings,apps and photos i'll send you lnk with the full version of the program if you want in pm
u can export your contact to sd.
and i use nebackup for sms backup.
Mybackup root does the job and its free in market

My backup pro restored my messages but failed to restore contacts
my contacts are always just backed up to my google account automatically so I've never worried about those.
And the SE Backup and Restore app will not work on any rom that isn't created by SE.

I think SE's backup and restore is based on this app.

i made a backup of my SMS/MMS/CALLS on my Desire S with a Cm10 Rom.
Than i changed my rom to PAC and my backup root says its not compatible because its a different ROM than the one from backup.
Now my question, can i read the backup files with an extra tool in windows and copy them to my phone?
Does the pro version von TB provide such a function? backing up SMS/MMS/CALLS ?

I would recommend Go Backup! I have used from ICS to GB.
This app does actually work very well.
But any idea if i can integrate my old backup?

Hi, I use Titanium Backup Pro for quite some time now. It can back up SMS/MMS and Call logs for sure.
But it can also back them up to XML file. This is really important when backing up and restoring data across incompatible ROMs and this saved my a** once when TB was unable to restore SMS from the regular backup (like in your case). I'm not sure if My Backup has XML capabilities.
I installed My Backup root and created a simple SMS+Call log backup, but unfortunately there is no way it could be imported in TB.
Did you make a nandroid backup before flashing the new ROM? Titanium Backup can extract from nandroid too..

But the backup is in Ext Card.
The problem is the same Backup & Restore app is not in this ROM.
I cannot find that app in the playstore.
It was pre-installed i guess.
Can anyone provide me with a link or something else?

you must have installed a custom rom...... which does not have sony apps........(backup and restore is sony's app).........
and i guess even if you try installing them and then restoring i wouldn't restore........

I did a backup using Titanium BU (v6.1.5.2) before installing the new rom. however, when i tried to restore my apps after installing the new rom i did not find my latest backup files. only few apps from older backup were there. when i checked the titanium backup folder i found that the titanium back up app created only the .properties files when creating the latest backup.
i am lost here, please can someone help me explain why TBU only created .properties file and did not give any error message.
i was moving from CM10.2/SGT7 4.3 to omni 4.4 rom. The rom was installed properly but i can not restore any of my apps with the settings/saved data.
i do have the apks of the apps but how to install them with the settings/saved data.
please help.

The move from those ROMs probably wouldn't have worked anyways...but I imagine that the titanium backup is on your device...the new ROMs are just looking in the wrong place for it...or you didn't have USB debugging on and your superuser might need updating..I'm not sure. This is all guess work on my part
