Is my phone bricked?

So I was doing the Odin flash part, and after it passed, my phone would of rebooted, but it just stayed on the samsung logo. So i restarted it, and its still happening. I can't go into recovery mode.
Yes it sounds like a soft brick. You can usually fix this problem with a USB jig.

Crap my friend doesnt have an SD card. he only has internal. How can he put a ROM in the phone?
Do you havea link to a thread? I can't find anything how to fix a soft brick.
Ima try this
Part 5: De-brick
1. First thing you should do is to try access CWM recovery (see above), then either restore a previous nandroid backup you made, flash a working rom that's on your sdcard, or put a working rom on your sdcard via your PC 's card reader and flash.
2. If you can't fix it via recovery, then put your phone into download mode. Flash a stock rom via Odin (see above)
3. If your Note won't turn on at all, you may be facing a hard brick.
4. You can also purchase a mini-usb jig which will put your phone into download mode even when above methods fail. I personally bought this one for $1.60 shipped. But basically any jig for the Galaxy phones should work.
That shouldn't matter, did you try going into download mode? If you can't then you need to by a jig, they aren't that expensive or you can make one yourself!

yes he can.
Then what you need to do is flash a stock ROM and try again but I recommend using a different kernel seeing as the first one didn't work.

Hey, Ultimate. I'm the friend that's in need. When I open Odin, do I keep the two ticked items the way they are? Or do I untick F. Reset Timer?
Keep them, just make sure re-partition isn't ticked and if it's only one file flash in the PDA section

Never mind, ignore this.
OK that's a good sign, first time boots do take a while because cache and data need to be created so be patient, if it takes more than ten mins, go back into recovery wipe cache and dalvik cache and try again, if that doesn't work then also wipe data

Ok everything is working fine. I don't remember what I did, but do i download ROM Manager, then click Flash Clockworkmod Recovery and confirm? then go into recovery mode?
You must have been patient and see if you already have cwm installed if you do then no need but if you don't i suggest you find out other ways as ROM manager isn't very good I just helped someone out who was having cwm issues and they flashed it using rom manager but you can try if you wish

Can I use Odin to downgrade?

Say I'm using the August firmware now and I want to use back the may firmware or stock rom, can Odin do it? Will I run into any problems?

It will not cause any problems..but you may run into bootloops and then you might have to delete your data..

Data delete as in factory reset. .everything on your internal memory..but it is a "if"..I am not saying it will happen for sure..and boot loops due to conflicts between your current system files and the files you will flash. .

All data - cache, dalvik cache and factory reset.... Please note, if you use pc odin to flash back a stock rom it generally wipes the internal sd card. BACK UP YOUR INFO 1st...

Yep it doesn't. two days ago I flashed back and was wondering why my device status was still modified despite resetting the flash counter. Turned out I had to restore to factory defaults.

If you're not rooted you'd better send it to Samsung services, otherwise I think Factory Reset from recovery or flashing a new ROM are the solutions. You're problem is called BOOTLOOP. I faced this problem and solved it with Factory Reset from Recovery

When phone is OFF press at the same time volume up + home + power then when you are in recovery run "wipe data/factory reset" and afterword choose option reboot. Remember that it will clear all your user apps/settings which you installed so far but it will not format your sdcard. Furthermore it will not necessarily help to solve your problem so if this doesn't help reflashing your rom might be necessary.

[Q] New to rooting i717

I have an AT&T i717 running ics stock rom. I installed cwm 5.0. something and was intending on installing the CM10 JellyBean rom from paranoid. It would not install from sd card. tried another rom from diff developer, same thing. I read that I needed an updated cwm so I tried to flash another, wouldnt work with the version of ODIN i had so i upgraded to v3.07, was able to flash another and then when I went to recovery it stayed in a black screen, reflashed the older version of cwm and now when I go to recovery it will show the main screen, but if I try to install or even reboot it takes the menu away and shows the symbol in the center. Am I just completely stupid? Have I missed something?

UPDATE: I have CWM recovery 5.5.0.4 working properly but I am getting an Error Status 7 (yes I have searched but everything I found was old and didn't help) I am trying to run cm-10.1-20120113-NIGHTLY-i717 build as well as pa_quincyatt-2.56-20121219-013738 build. both show same error. Any ideas?

Did it work?
Figured it out. Cleared both cache and delvik Cache and did a factory reset. worked like a charm. thanks for the help and I hope this helps others as well.
Just for future reference, also wiping system along with wiping cache/dalvik and factory reset is good practice. Sometimes not wiping system can cause some issues.

Rebbot after screen turned off

Hi guys, I have this weird problem.
Today I bought a S3 from a guy.
When the phone screen turns off because i don't use it, it doesn't wake and reboots.
When I use it, and screen is on, never reboots.
What to do?
I flashed the newest ROM and the problem still exists
R: Rebbot after screen turned off
Have you done a factory reset before flashing?

R: Rebbot after screen turned off
I mean a real factory reset, not the one found in samsung's settings, but in clockworknod's.
Just root, install clockworkmod, factory reset and flash a custom rom or a samsung stock rom edited to run on rooted s3.
If you've already done that, might also try dalvik cache format...but i dunno how much help it can be.
