[Q] Really Need some help please - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys I have a I9300T (telstra branded) Galaxy S3. I want to flash it so its the Samsung firmware that I get an update from Samsung when they get released and not have all the Telstra blootware on my phone.
Problem is I don't know which firmware to flash it with. I'm currently on the Telstra Released 4.0.3 firmware in Australia. I'm wanting to go to 4.1 firmware (jelly bean)
Can someone please please please...point me int he right direction??

As I said just looking for the stock Jelly Bean firmware for my phone. I'm wanting to make it an I9300 and get updates from Samsung...I have Odin 1.85

Flash the i9300 XXELKC firmware. It's the latest official firmware from Samsung, at version 4.1.2
People say it's compatible, but I'm not sure if it would get official OTAs coming through as normal. Also changes your device name to i9300

Stock ICS for Virgin/Bell

Hi guys, I'm looking for the stock ICS firmware for my Virgin Galaxy S2 (i9100/m).
Went into the thread with the collaboration of stock firmware but the downloads have been removed for both bell and virgin. Can someone point me to the right direction for the stock rom? Or any rom that's close to stock?
According to my copy of Checkfus, there is no official/stock ICS for I9100M/Bell Canada. If you're after a copy of Gingerbread firmware for this carrier/country, search Samfirmware.com
The last and likely only firmware for Bell/Virgin/Sasktel GT I9100Ms was UGKG2 (2.3.3), if you want ICS you'd be better served by downloading a european stock or custom ICS ROM as Bell has never expressed any interest in doing further updates for this phone.

As I said here, The Galaxy SII for Virgin Mobile in the US is NOT the i9100 or i9100M. It is the SPH-D710, otherwise known as the Epic 4G Touch. anyone looking for stuff for a Virgin Mobile US Galaxy SII is in the wrong forum.

ICS 4.0.4 firmware is not yet released for 3, Vodafone, and O2 in the UK.
The best bet is to flash 4.0.4 for unbranded UK firmware here: www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9100&pcode=XEU&os=1&type=1#firmware
Or simply stay with your present firmware

Excellent answer!!, just what I was looking for, thanks pal

Can I install any region Stock ROM while upgrading ?
Additional Details:

Model NO: GT - I9100
PDA: I9100XWLP8
PHONE: I9100XXLPS
CSC: I9100XSALP4
Appreciate your help ...
Thanks,
Krishna
Couple of places you can get stock roms: Samfirmware.com, here (this site is better than Samfirmware IMHO) or with the PC version of Checkfus (search for it on Google/XDA).
Yes, you can install a stock rom for any region, but with one caveat. If you install a rom that isn't for your region, you may not be able to get future OTA updates from your carrier. Which isn't really a big deal because if your carrier does release a stock rom for your region, you could always download it with Checkfus & flash it with Odin (like almost everyone does on here).

JB update- please HELP

Hello.
I'm a new owner of a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I need your help.
If I connect my phone to Kies then the folowing text is displayed:
PDA: LF5 / PHONE: LF5 / MODEM: LF2 (VDH).
Then if I go to check the last software for the VDH models, on samsung firmware site, a new version (4.1.1) apears.
My question is why this update does not apear on my phone or on Kies?
I curently have the 4.0.4 firmware on my phone.
Thank you.
Because the update hasn't been released in your country yet

Stock Firmware problems please help!

Ok I went to update my phone through kies and forgot that i have a different kernal than before. Kies told me i cant update through it. I assume thats cause im using a different kernal.
Here is the details from my phone.
Model - GT-I9100
Android Version - 4.0.4
Baseband Version - I9100XXLQ6
Kernal Version - 3.0.15-I9100XWLPT-CL941023
Build Number - IMM76D.XWLPT
I am locked on O2 UK i think.
I have noticed since flashing this kernal last july that my phone performance has been poor in terms of it switching off by itself and so on.
What I want to know is how can i get the original firmware back on my phone so i can update via kies. And I also want to know how to install Jelly Bean on this phone and how I go about it?
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Aaron.
Hey,
i have found out that the latest rom O2 UK has released is android 4.0.4
you can download the firmware from here
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/159884527/f4d3bd8/I9100XWLPD_I9100O2ULP7_O2U.zip.html
You will have to flash that with Odin, just unzip the file and put it in the pda section on Odin.
After that kies should be able to recognize your phone,
if you want to update to 4.0.4 from kies you will have to pick an earlier firmware from
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9100&pcode=O2U#firmware
same precedure as above for flashing it, i have not used kies since i bought my gs1 2 years ago but i believe it will work
Good luck friend!
Thanks for that dude, much appreciated
Is this a Jelly Bean ROM or just original stock ROM for O2??????????
no, just Ice Cream Sandwich, but it is stock Touchwiz. (Samsung Rom)
but the Jelly Bean update must be around the corner i guess.
if not you could allways flash a stock Samsung JellyBean rom that is open for europe,
the main difference may be a different modem and that there is no O2 apps prebaked into the Rom.
i think the one for nordic counties should work well since you are in the uk,
you can find it at
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9100&pcode=0#firmware
Thanks again man, you have been very very helpful.
Thanks
no problem mate, glad i could help you out,
and please let me know if it works with kies afterwards
What will the difference in modems do? Will there be any affect on what I can do with my phone?
What is the modem for? Internet connection i take it?
Kies doesn't let you update with the nordic counties rom at all. But it works sweet on my S2 so I'm happy.
