Is it just this model phone? I'm running viper ROM and using stock kernel. It just seems very grainy, could it be from the ROM?
I read on the HTC sight that it has bad quality when taking regular photos..not for sure tho...check it out yourself

Upload a photo to see. In a dark shot it will look alil grainy on screen pics come out fine tho.
No, it's the phone. The camera stock settings are crap. In fact, the whole design of the camera is not up to standard with the rest of the phones.
They dropped the ball on that part when they made this phone. It is now up to the community to correct the companies error. Hopefully a good camera port will come soon.

I will agree on some of the phones there were camera issues. So far I haven't ran into any yet. The phone does take some excellent shots.
The amaze camera port is great.
The Amaze Camera works completely on our phone? Holy crap.
Yea I second the Amaze camera its really good. Now we just need a kernel base with no shutter lag.

I will test the Amaze Camera!
I also think that the camera pictures aren´t good
mine takes great pics... just saying.
Yep, the Amaze camera is not too shabby. I'd recommend it.

I like that the phone has no shutter lag (supposedly), and will let you take photos while videoing. I also like the screen size, along with the resolution. In the reviews, people always seem to comment on how awesome the screen looks, so I am really looking forward to that. NFC sounds cool too.

Im excited about the camera as well. Looks like good quality (from samples ive seen) and no shutter lag. Just an overall fun camera.apk
I hate AMOLED displays for the viewing angles and hue, so I returned the E4GT and didn't even bother with the GNex. I refuse to upgrade to a phone that has less than a 4.5" screen. (Spoiled). That said, assuming the camera is on par with the E4GT, what I'm looking forward to the most is the camera. My son is very active these days and I have a daughter on the way, so being able to get good pics of them whenever and wherever is a big deal to me, and let's face it, the OG EVO camera has always sucked. Quick shutter speed, high aperture, wide angle, BSI sensor, dedicated imaging processor, stills during video capture, dedicated camera button. Hell, even as a gimmick feature, the slow motion recording sounds fun.
The camera easily, after playing with the One X's camera , I look forward to it.
XDA Since 2007...
I'm in for the faster cpu, larger screen, and more memory. Although I have all animations turned off, the original evo is lacking in the cpu dept.
I chose this over the One X and SGS3 because of the dedicated camera button, kickstand, micro sd card, great screen, and slim profile... coming from the original EVO 4G. But... if i had to pick one.... the camera button. Why doesn't everyone have this?

Yeah, other than the pre-order drama, I am really excited to use the camera button. I didn't have an EVO 3D and I have been taking more and more photography lately with my EVO 4G. Can't wait to see how the camera button affects this new hobby of mine lol.
Camera was the big one for me. Honorable mention goes to the screen, camera button (wasn't a fan of the round one on the E3D), slimness, and KICKSTAND!!!!
Anyone know if the cam button can be used as a shortcut button to open the camera?

Yes, hit the shutter button and the camera app opens. Not when it's locked though.
The camera button is the big feature? Has no one ever had this before? I know my EVO 3D, does, but it isn't new to that device. The PPC-6800 had it back in 2007 and I think my PPC-6700 did too. The Evo 4G is about the only phone I think I've had recently that didn't have the button. It is like they were trying to mimic Apple too much.
The Nexus s 4g, G2, HTC Hero, Galaxy Nexus, T-bolt all phones I had. None had a camera button. I had a ppc-6700 too but I wasn't trying to take pictured with that. The camera was horrible. Oh I had a EvO too.

Hey people first off all I would like to say that I recently bought myself a new shiny S3 and so far love it. The one thing however that disapoints me is the quality of camera. I had an iP4s before this phone and I must say that it took much much better quality pics than S3 especially in low light situations. The difference in quality cannot be unseen, the pics are supernoisy even without zooming. So I'm asking, is it possible that I maybe got a defective camera on my phone? This fact really annoys me because I tend to use camera on my phone quite often.

theres been huge comparisons between the 2 cameras. Theres a thread on here that compares them in a bunch of different conditions and if i'm not mistaken the S3 edged out the 4s (sorry i dont have time to link it right now) .
GSMarena did a camera test S3 vs 4S vs OneX vs PureView and the results were (from best to worst) Pureview, S3, 4S, OneX
I guess it just depends on the way you take the pics but i have heard of some models shipping with bad camera modules... Could u post some pics maybe so that we have a comparison
Check the "pictures taken with your S3" thread.. if yours isn't taking pictures as well as the pics in that thread you may have a faulty camera. I've been nothing but impressed with the camera!

I checked that thread and it really looks like my camera is worse. I'm uploading a picture I took this morning and it really looks mediocre at least. basically i just turned anti shake and auto contrast off. that limits the max iso to 800. then you gotta play around with the scene settings~
Hello. I haven't used the camera much yet but i would have the iso off auto and set as low as possible. Image size at 8mp and quality set to superfine. That would be my starting point. The few photos i've taken so far didn't look rough like the one shown by op. Play with the settings and see if there's an improvement.
Some phones have Sony camera (Perfect, better that iPhone's one), but most phones have Samsung camera (Korean ****)
I was pleasantly surprised about the picture quality my SGS3 produces.
Then again I don't expect too much...

the s3 camera is ok. i still think my htc sensation took better quality pictures. the htc sensation camera has more setting options than the s3. i do a lot of photo touching in post for print ads, with photos, using a professional camera but touching up photos from the s3 vs. my old htc sensation, i would have to say that photos taken with the sensation was much better to work with. the s3 is better with video recording. i do plan to shoot a 5min short film with this phone...just cause.

Hi all. Engadget has just released their review of One X+. Just wanted to share.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/31/htc-one-x-plus-review/
They basically say;
- Sense has improved and runs a bit smoother.
- Front camera has drastically improved.
- Battery life is same as One X.
- There is only one color option which is black matte.
- Photo and video quality is same as One X and they think it lags behind the competition.
- The processor is faster and it shows itself in real world usage.
- Camera lens is still prone to scratch.
- Taking photos is even faster.
- Volume is significantly higher with Beats Audio enabled.
and so on...
So basically not really worth upgrading once the one x receives jelly bean?

It's a personal preference. It brings faster performance, 64 GB storage, probably less problematic hardware than One X (remember wifi, screen problems of One X) and more.. They just say if it was using S4 Pro it would have had better battery life but still it's a lovely phone.

I would buy One X or One X+ only if I like Sense. Well, I do but I couldn't buy One X since it had hardware issues when I was looking for. Maybe HTC solved these issues, we will see but right now if I had a solid One X without problems, I wouldn't buy One X+. If I had GS3, I would still buy it because missed Sense as I'm using GN right now.

Having used the HTC Desire HD (Also known as Sensation) on TMobile UK. I really like the design and reliability of HTC devices. Looking forward to see how this device stacks up. I do like that JB is included out-of-the-box. AT&T is releasing it in the USA but I hope TMobile now called EE will release it soon

SPRINT HTC ONE VS AT&T LG OPTIMUS G (Mini review)(Comparison Pics & Benchmark Scores)
I recently had to switch carriers so I purchased a HTC one for sprint and I still have my OG-E970 unlocked for T-Mobile
after leaving AT&T.
Honestly I still prefer my Optimus G as of my first week with the HTC One .The boom sound that they made a big stink about is not even that loud as they made it out to seem.Comparing the sound to quality is the thing. The optimus g is louder but the clarity of the boom sound is what makes it better and clear when it comes down to music and videos.I prefer the features of q-slide and quick memo compared to the new blink feed and other HTC apps.Graphic wise I really don't see a big difference. The highest brightness level of the HTC one is a little more then half of what the Optimus G can produce with brightness. The 1080 screen compared to the OG is more clear but not much of a difference to the naked eye.
Both get hot after playing video games and watching movies because of the quad-core chips.
The OG has a slot for micro sd which is great but 32g with the HTC One is fine for me.
CAMERA:The HTC is the better camera front and back but the 4mp(ultrapixel) is useless for anything past social network sharing while the 8mp for the OG is good for printing pictures. You also lose quality when you zoom into pictures with the HTC One but fantastic with low lighting.
This is my mini review,If anyone has any questions about the phones compared to each other.Just ask
And no I'm not abandoning my OG and this is not a goodbye post.Just a phone geek with more then one phone and against the mediocre fame of Samsung. And as a fan of both LG OG and the HTC One for different reasons,Let me ask you. Will we ever get to see a video comparison of these phones on YouTube? Not with Samsung and Apple running around town.:what:
This is purely my opinion for anyone considering to troll.

Considering I only had the HTC One for only a week, there's possibly shortcuts I haven't figured out for daily use but I take many pictures with both phones and quick capture is better with the HTC for multi shots. For multi tasking when I watch movies and YouTube videos and I wanna text at the same time,OG is great for that. Both is terrific for playing apps since both screens are both 4.7 in screens. But to answer your question. The optimus G for multitasking when your bored or at work and The HTC for pictures and movies because of the boom sound speakers. So daily use would be the Optimus G (solely my opinion)

4mp is only good for social media purposes?
Come on....even your full HD TV is only just 2mp regardless of size and at 60 inches you're probably going to be standing a few feet back and still be amazed at how sharp the picture is!
HTC is not dumb to put a smaller MP count camera...it's the size of the pixels that matter when it comes to quality!
Granted 6mp would have been nicer for cropping purposes...

+1, marketing really has these guys good. I doubt any of you are printing poster shots. Also the camera wrecks everything, ever, in low light.

Obviously if you exceed 100%. But at 6mp you can print poster size no problem.
I have a 5DMII and when I zoom past 100%, even the 21mp image looks crappy. I stopped pixel peeping a while ago when I realized I would never print past 16x24.
