[Q] cant boot OS after fastboot oem lock - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I am trying to run an RUU to bring back to stock. When I run the RUU it fails and everything that I have read says that for the RUU to be successful your bootloader must be locked. So I do my fastboot oem lock and the re-lock succeeds but now can only boot into the bootloader. I cant get the os to boot so I cant run the RUU. If I then go through the unlock procedure again my phone boots with no problem. I just cant get it to boot while locked. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Also I am S-On running stock w/goodies 2.28

That is what I have already done but when I run the fastboot oem lock as it says in the video my phone reboots but wont boot into the OS just goes back into the bootloader.

Also I dont know if this means anything or not but when I am at the bootloader at the top it says "tampered" "relocked" and also "security warning"

I don't think the phone will boot with anything but the stock rom after an oem lock. It should boot again after running the ruu

I think it says tampered because you still have root access

Flash the stock ruu. It will boot and tampered message will be gone

After you relock the bootloader like you said you did, get back into bootloader, set to fastboot, connect/or keep phone connected to computer after locking, and it should say "fastboot usb" in red when you go into fastboot selection. From there run RUU on your computer, and you should be all set. Hope that helps.

When you say flash the Stock ruu I think that is where my confusion lies. The only ruus I have been able to find are an executable that is run from my PC. Also if I am able to find the ruu to flash is it a .zip or a .img and is it flashed thru fastboot or recovery?

ok thank you everyone. I was able to get the ruu to run from fastboot. I thought I had tried that before and the ruu wasnt able to detect the phone but as of now it seems that I am good.
Again thank you guys

Help me bring Evo 3D back to stock, HBOOT 1.5 2.17

I have a secondary Evo 3D on my account that recently took a crap. My friend that was using it took the OTA update and it caused it to be updated to 2.17 but also HBOOT 1.5. So from there I unlocked it via HTC unlock method and installed SupraROM. I don't know the exact details but the phone became stuck in an infinite reboot mode. I tried to do a wipe and install the latest MeanROM but when it would boot the battery indicator would show a red triangle with an exclamation point and reboot within 10 seconds. I swapped batteries with a working 3D so I know it's not the battery. I tried downloading a stock 2.17 rom PG86IMG but it won't recognize or install in bootloader or TWRP (I've tried multiple zips). In bootloader it still shows S-ON and then ***UNLOCKED*** in pink up top.
What would be the best way to recover this phone back to 100% stock? Is it bricked or can it be fixed?
You will have to re lock the bootloader first. From fastboot, type "fastboot oem lock"
After the bootloader is re locked, it will allow the PG86IMG.zip to update the phone

Oh man I hope its that simple. Thanks!
EDIT: Nevermind, delete.
The phone is recovered and back to stock! Thanks!
Could you go into more detail please!

I second this!
Can you go back to STOCK without having to plugin your phone to PC? because my device cannot be recognized!
If you're Hboot 1.50, you need the pc to recognize the phone to use fastboot.
You must use the fastboot command to enter custom recovery correctly to flash kernels/boot.img files that are part of ROMs.
(There is a way to use FlashImage app for the kernel beforehand if the phone will boot to the OS).
You must use the fastboot command to enter custom recovery correctly to format/restore a backup (or the kernel won't get loaded).
You must use the fastboot command to "relock" your phone.
You must "relock" your phone to run the stock RUU.exe's and stock RUU.zip's (PG86IMG.zip).
If you can't get the pc to recognize the phone, try a different PC and especially try SEVERAL usb cables as these tend to go bad.
Additional "Detail" info that may help is in the "guide" in my signature.
Wait where can i get the .zip?

Stuck at white HTC boot screen after OTA update

Hi, did a stupid thing and did the OTA update without reading the forum. The first update went through but after the 2nd big update, my phone is stuck at the white HTC screen. My phone is HTCdev unlocked and was on stock GB. My hboot version is
Unlocked
Vigor PUT Ship S-On RL
Hboot 2.11.0000
eMMC-boot
Oct 6 2011
I've looked through the forums for a solution and so far I taken the following steps
1) I have tried to reflash through the hboot using rezound_AndroidPolice_3.14.605.12_PH98IMG.zip, but it won't reflash. It goes through the loading processing but at the end I don't get the do you want to update promt. It just brings me back to the fastboot, recovery, factory reset etc menu
2) Then tried reflash to stock GB (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812084), that update worked I think since after the loading screen, it asked if I wanted to update and I clicked yes. But after that, still stuck at the white HTC screen
3) Did factory reset twice, once through hboot and then another time at the Recovery mode, still doesn't work
So now I'm completely lost in how to get my phone back to working state again. Any advice??
Thanks in advance.
Is your bootloader still unlocked? You can't take a stock rom with an unlocked bootloader. You have to relock it first.
If you can get to Fastboot, run "fastboot oem lock"

I've seen reference to "Fastboo" and running command prompt, but I have no idea how that process works. Can you explain or provide links in how to do this?

I have the Andriod SDK installed, so can you clarify what exactly do I right click and also how can I check if I do have the stock recovery flashed?
I've figured out how to use fastboot, but when I connect by phone to my computer and run the lock command, it says its waiting for the device to connect. Any suggestions?
it means your PC did not recognise the phone in fastboot. install htc drivers (through HTC sync), connect phone to PC, reboot to bootloader and select fastboot. you can see it changes to fastboot usb
I'm on the same boat, but my phone was completely stock when I took the OTA.
I used this link to unlock my phone. You can use it as reference to relock it

What to do?

I just purchased an evo lte off Craigslist and I would like to put it back to stock. When I try to enable wifi it says there is an error. In the bootloader it says tampered, unlocked, s on, hboot 1.19.0000 also it has twrp recovery.
What steps do I need to take to get back to completely stock as it would be from the store. Thanks

If I'm correct the bootloader will always say tampered unlocked unless you use the tool to rename it...look in original development section...its by Regaw something. You can run the RUU but all the info will be in original development on returning to stock

The tool to edit hboot is by regaw_lienad, but it will only work on s-off hboot. You are s-on. Tampered means it's rooted. If you want unrooted stock out of the box, need to run 1.19 RUU. Check the stickies.

Do I have to lock the bootloader before running the ruu?
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
You do have to relock the bootloader through fastboot. Fastboot OEM lock. Then if it boots up afterwards put back in fastboot to run the RUU. I have done this multiple times with success. Afterwards it will not say tampered, but it will.say relocked instead of locked. But I've sent mine into sprint several times for repair and even got a replacement device

I'm a Samsung guy but to stop it saying 'relocked' could you not rewrite that ,before you lock it ? Not changing the command, just the writing it puts up ?

After I re locked the bootloader I had a tough time getting the ruu to run. I ended up having to hook the phone up to the computer in the fast boot screen. The ruu finally ran successfully and I'm now completely back to stock. Thanks for the help!

[Q] Unroot and lock bootloader

Hey guys. Yes I have searched, but have only found instructions so far for going back to stock gingerbread.
I need to send my amaze in to get fixed under warranty, and I'm assuming they won't like it if I send them the phone with an unlocked bootloader, rooted, and CM10 installed, and that's what I need help with. How can I reinstall stock ICS, unroot, and lock the bootloader of the amaze? And will it show as "relocked" or "locked"? Of course I plan on putting the root and unlocked bootloader and CM10 once I get it back, so I'm looking for a reversible way to do this. Thanks in advance!
Just to be clear. For your bootloader to say 'locked' you'll need to have S-Off and NOT unlock the bootloader again. But once that's done just flash the ICS ruu. Here's a link

Thank you. So I am S-ON right now. In order to make the bootloader say "locked" again to make HTC happy with my warranty, I'd have to be stuck with ICS and whatever updates HTC decides to give us from then on once I got it back from HTC?
No. That's the only way for it to say "locked" if you relock it it will say "relocked"
So if you really want it to say "locked" you'll need to S-Off first. Then flash the RUU.
Once you get it back you can do as you feel.

What makes you think you will be stuck with anything? Everything u need to do is reversible and then re-doable.
Im just not really sure which part u think would make it stuck. Let us know and im sure we can explain the cofusion
After unlocking the bootloader with S-ON and installing a custom recovery/rom how do you revert to Stock.
I've tried relocking the bootloader, and using the AllinOneToolkit by Hanson to install the Factory RUU but it keeps failing after the HTC boot logo appears and the zip RUU file gets transferred to the phone. Keeps saying Failed with 12 signatures or something.
Then I read with S-ON that you had to use Hanson's tool and perform Fix Mainver, but that doesnt do anything either. Keeps saying, error cannot find device.
So, how do I go back to Stock?
Would appreciate any help!
Boot into fastboot, type "fastboot OEM lock" in the command prompt. Put the appropriate RUU on your external SD card and rename it PH85ING.zip and boot into bootloader.
Edit: its PH85IMG.zip. sorry about my fatty fingers. Also, make sure to check the md5 sum on the RUU. I always had trouble with the download.

I have yet to try the PHS.IMG method in fastboot.

[Q] Unroot help

Need to return my HTC EVO 4G LTE to stock for warranty work (screen).
hboot 2.09
software 3.16
s-on
I read this thread about unrooting but it looks to my noob mind like dirty racun and baby racoon only run ubuntu/linux. I only have access to a Win7 64 bit laptop.
I used TWRP and the HTC token method to root my phone. My bootloader says "tampered" and "unlocked". Sprint guy was cool enough to not enter in any information and let me unroot my phone and bring it back to try again. Apparently Sprint is really cracking down on rooted phones, but I digress...
How can i get back to non-tamperd, locked and remain s-on so i can get my cracked screen replaced?
Thanks

Just one question, moonshine says to put the extracted files into `/downloads. Do I put it on the device and run the distiller, or on my PC an run the distiller?

All files should be on your PC
So I though I could just re-lock my phone (fastboot eom lock) and then load an unrooted stock ROM. Nope.
Boot menu says "tampered" and "relocked" but i also get "security warning" when I try to boot into TWRP to load the ROM.
Cannot use fastboot to unlock again either. [FIXED]
Plus TWRP wiped the OS and then failed on the ICS load. So now I have NOTHING.
I can still get to the boot loader though...
EDIT:
I have tried a TON of things. Pushing RUU from fastboot. Locking and relocking, using PJ75IMG.zip files loaded on the sdcard. I have not been able at ALL to get anything to load. I have no OS basically. My phone just boots to a white HTC screen and sits there. I can still get to the boot loader, but nothing I have tried will load without some sort of failure. I can also get to TWRP but it will NOT load any ROMs I have tried. I have tried some ICS ROMs (meanrom, stock and CM) I tried stock JB roms and NOTHING will load. They usually get to partitioning, then just fail. Nothing using adb will work since I cannot get android to load. Only fastboot.
Basically I just want to take this thing into sprint for warranty work on the screen and the volume up button does not work (thank god the vol down does). So if I can just get rid of the "tampered" and re-lock it, I could care less what else works.
