[Q] adb shell - device not found - HTC Desire X

Hello all,
This is my first post - please excuse me if I'm posting this in the wrong thread. I got my Desire X today, but because I don't have a working SD card I'm not able to flash the custom ROM through recovery.
I'm trying to get a shell, but adb shell keeps saying that the device is not found. All drivers are installed, while I'm in fastboot the fastboot devices is showing me the phone, but adb devices is empty and adb shell is giving the error no matter if i'm in the bootloader or in fastboot.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
edit: I'm running Windows 8 x64 if that matters

Looks like you're not the only one having trouble using adb and Windows 8 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896267

My mind seems fried today... it was an dummy issue - I was supposed to be in the recovery while trying to get a shell and not in the bootloader/fastboot. Just flashed the sense revolution w/o issues.
Thanks anyway

[Q] HTC One os deleted?

Hello Everyone,
I have a big problem i think. I have a HTC One, i have rooted it yesterday, rooting it didn't gave problems at all.
Then... i thought why not overclock it a little bit, so i downloaded ElementalX.
I had to configer and then it started installing. Whyle installing, without warning my device rebooted (shouldn't happened)
and since then i can't get beyond the htc startscreen, stuck there everytime.
I have no backup, so i need to reinstall jellybean 4.2.2 i think, but i can't connect it to my laptop, (windows 8) whyle in
fastboot mode. Can someone help me please??
Now i have deleted everything.
I have downloaded a new rom, MaximusHD 12.1.1, the only problem i have is getting it on my device.
I don't have a usb otg (on the go) cable, and adb and fastboot aren't work.
Does someone knows if there is a way to emulate usb-otg on your pc?
What i mean is that when i connect my phone to my pc my phone will see one directory like it is usb otg.
I hope this is possible. by the way, i have windows 8.
My pc can't find my device when i use adb or fastboot (adb in recovery)
i see fastboot usb where i should see that but it still doesn't works.
i hope someone can help me
facing the same thing on my end.....
Guys, I am stuck in similar situation with my HTC Desire X. Please help with proper solutions.
Hello,
I connected my htc one to another computer, windows xp, and now i have fastboot working and adb also i think
becouse i can reboot the phone through cmd command "adb reboot".
adb sideload issn't working, i get the message "Starting ADB sideload feature..." but nothing will happen.
I have all the needed files on C:\android (adb.exe fastboot.exe adbwinapi.dll and 2.zip"
2.zip is the Jellybean 4.3 zip (MaximusHD 12.1.1 i believe)
Now what do i need to do? How can i get the zip installed on my device?
I hope someone can help me,
greetings, Ricardo
i am on my laptop now, will " C:\Android\ adb push 2.zip /sdcard/ " be a good command?
2.zip is the jellybean rom.
CD to the location of 2.zip then run the command starting with adb push

[Q] ZTE Flash help (N9500)

I looked all over the internet for help with this phone. I rooted it for a friend and a week later, he said he restarted the phone and everything started force closing.
I troubleshot all day, and came to figure out that my only known to me as of now, is flashing CWM to it, via ADB. I am having several issues with setting up ADB, and getting the phone to communicate with my computer. Device manager DOES show that there is an ADB device installed correctly, so what would my next move be? I got the phone into FTM mode, (fastboot?) and I know that that is what I need to do to get ADB to communicate with my phone.
halp pls
Really no one can help???

ADB Drivers for Windows Vista/7

If you havn't found this yet...
Your answer is here: androidforums.com/flash-all-things-root/ Good luck!:good:
CWM Beta
From Android Forums ... Thanks to Junkie2100
this is an unfinished copy of cwm, tested to be almost completely functional
standard warnings apply, use at your own risk, you try to blame me for breaking your phone i will laugh at you
instructions:
fastboot method is possible, but i will go through the terminal/adb method
download the recovery file, and put it on the root of your sd. no folders, just directly on the sd
get your phone rooted and get a copy of terminal emulator or connect to it through adb on your computer, adb will require zte drivers and the adb program on the pc. the choice is yours
fire up adb by typing
Code (Text):
adb shell
in the command prompt, if its not working you dont have adb in the directory youre in, just copy adb.exe and the two .dll files to c:\windows\system32\ and itll work from anywhere, or learn how command prompt works
or fire up terminal emulator on the phone
on adb shell or terminal emulator type
Code (Text):
su
dd if=/sdcard/flash_cwm_test2.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
you will then need to run
Code (Text):
reboot recovery
and then hit reboot when cwm comes up, if it asks to disable recovery flashing press yes or it will put stock recovery back next time the rom boots
known bugs:
unmounting doesnt work
downloads:
w.ww.4shared.com/file/2qBR2Kfr/flash_cwm_test2.html
i apologize for it being 4shared, if someone wants to make a mirror ill put it up

[Q] Stuck in bootloader/recovery

Hello all, been scouring the web with no avail, so I must come here for your help.
I used some of the guides on this forum in order to root, install CWR, and Cyanogenmod a few months back, but I'm back again today after an OTA update got me stuck in CWR/bootloader.
I can use both of these, and both of these only. I cannot boot into the ROM.
When looking, I've realized the only way to fix this would be to do a full reset and install the ROM again. I've wiped the device with CWR, but I'm not able to flash another ROM onto the device. (I'm looking to flash the GPE ROM this time).
My computer is detecting that something is connected, but even with the ADB drivers and everything, ADB still isn't detecting the device. Any pointers?
Also when looking around, I also noticed that many guides tell me I need to turn S-ON off, and I've tried doing that with rumrunner, but that didn't work since ADB wasn't either.
TLDR; I'm stuck in bootloader/recovery, am not able to flash/sideload due to my PC not detecting the device.
Anyway, THANKS LOADS IN ADVANCE. I've spent all afternoon searching today, and this is my last resort.

You need to install HTC sync to ensure the proper drivers are installed.
Download HTC sync manager
Install it,
Remove HTC sync manager but leave drivers
place HTC one on boot loader then fastboot option, connect device to computer wait until android 1.0 installs
Disconnect device and boot to recovery, reconnect device and let drivers install.
Run from computer CMD and get to the place where adb and fastboot exes are located.
Type command adb devices
the if successful prompt to do a adb sideload

Alright, I installed and uninstalled HTC sync manager, only uninstalled from PC's native uninstallation process, and not sure if the drivers got uninstalled- didn't ask me about it.
After that, I recall a popup telling me it's installing Android 1.0, which only was active for a moment. I disconnected and booted to recovery, reconnected to computer, and 'adb devices' returned no devices.
Thanks again. Today was the first day at school without my phone this year, and it was dreadful. I'm a total addict.
Do you have a linux distro available which you can try? Preferably Ubuntu. Everytime Windows screwed up, I was able to do adb/fastboot perfectly with Linux.
Install:
sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot
Define rules:
sudo gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/51.android.rules
Write this in that file: SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="283b", MODE="0660", OWNER="Ubuntu"
Save and exit, then do sudo adb / fastboot devices.

Do you think you could write or link me to a more detailed guide about that? Don't have much knowledge about that kind of stuff. Especially since I don't know what I need to look for.
Ahh, was finally able to get ADB to work on my computer. All good now.

Stuck in bootloader/fastboot and can't get ADB to recognize, but fastboot does..

So I have had my Droid DNA for a few months and I've been messing around with it and doing fine. Since I installed TWRP it allows me to delete internal storage...
Oops, there goes my ROM I had saved. Now I'm stuck in either bootloader or recovery. I can't get ADB to recognize my DNA to save my life. It's really really irritating.
I've tried flashing a zip with fastboot since fastboot can recognize my device but ADB can't and it didn't work.
I have Minimal ADB installed and HTC sync manager, but i installed sync after i messed it up so idk if it installed the drivers.
I need a step by step instruction guide to get this to work. I can't find it anywhere. I keep getting no ADB devices and it saying server out of date and what not. I've been searching for hours and hours.
I can't get this to work. I even bought a new phone in the meantime to get me by and that's not exactly what I wanted to do... Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much!!
No one?
Pretty quite.. I recently had this happen as well.. No fear tho.. If you have twrp already installed your golden.. Download a rom 2 your computer and on twrp goto advanced and sideload.. Command prompt on your computer.. Easiest if found is running xp. Get to your folder of adb hit control and right click poem command prompt here.. adb devices, then adb sideload rom(name). zip.. Your computer will find your device then , and if it didn't send it will allow you to file Explorer.. Throw a rom on your internal reboot into twrp and flash
Æaa..\../
I am lucky I switched to TWRP before this happen, but alas, it's hanging at starting ADB Sideload, doesnt show up in devices either. How do I make it visible so i can just use file explorer from my PC to sideload it?

You can restrt the phone. Hold down power and volume down together. Then you can reaccess the bootloader from there. If you have twrp you can just go through the file manager instead of messing with sideload.

I can't put any ROM into my MTK redmi note 3 via TWRP

Hello, I have unlocked bootloader and twrp installed. I used before a custom room from miui forums and it worked well but i wanted to try a new one so i wiped everything on the phone and tried to put the rom via adb sideload but it always fail at some point.
I can't adb push either because adb devices doesn't show my phone.
The last time adb push worked for me and my pc always recognized the phone before so I don't know why is not working this time...
Any ideas? Thank you!!
PS: Yesterday i could transfer the rom via adb push (adb devices showed recovery) but the install failed so today i wanted to try a new one but I just can't...
Windows Device Administrator shows the phone connected as Google Nexus ADB interface.
Ok, i made it.
I mounted only data on TWRP and then ADB devices recognized the phone.
I don't know if i can close the post!
