Is there any script that will clean up the garbage on these without having to root? The only reason I was rooting before on my sprint phones was for getting free hotspot access, and now we don't have to worry about that. System seems to run great, it just has an enormous amount of software on it

You need root access in order to get to the bloat. Now now, Verizon wouldn't make it that easy to remove their crapware.

To actually remove it you need root, but you can disable it while unrooted.

No you must be rooted as said by the above posts. If you want to hide the app icons from your app drawer you can. When you open your app drawer in top right there is 3 squares saying menu, touch it. Touch hide apps and have at it, hide what you don't like. Hope this was helpful!!

if you hit the menu button in the app drawer, click manage apps, go to 'all' and click on a piece of bloat you can disable it, which keeps it from running from the background and showing up in the app drawer, much better than just hiding it

Thanks man i didn't know how to disable but I just did. Disable not only hides but as stated above keeps it from running in the background.

Is there any way to change the lower 4 icons, or at least set it back to default? I lost my Phone and Contacts icon, just Messaging and Applications are showing.
Not sure how this happened, it started somewhere between updating to WKE2 -> Rooting -> Adding the stock kernel back again -> Freezing some apps. I have unfrozen all apps nog, but the 2 icons have not come back to the static buttons at the bottom. I can however see them in Applications.
BTW, besides than this WKE2 seems to be running smooth for me, was a little worried after seeing some other threads.
in the app drawer you can hit the left soft key -> edit and just drag anything u like to the dock.
Hah, I *am* a TouchWiz noob. Thanks!
I must be doing something wrong as i cant get the bottom 4 apps to change. I can customise the othe pages but not the 4 apps on the home page. Any futher help for a noob.

Open up the App Drawer, hit 'Menu' (left softkey), drag what icon you want out and replace it with what you want.
Bare in mind you can only replace three of the four icons.
Many thanks for the pointers, got it sorted.

Well, I just did that..thing is, while it was blank I changed it to a diff app thinking it would switch back when I changed the screen. After the last update, I still have the other app I selected. My phone is still gone!
For me, i can still select phone for my lockscreen shortcuts, but its not in my app drawer. Should it be this way?
Seems like a PICNIC error to me.
I have the same issue. I did ALL the updates and my phone app is still missing, and yes I have been reading all the forums/blogs.

So for clarity, you have the phone shortcut available for lockscreen, but not in app drawer?
Go in to the settings where you can change which apps show. Select a different one then chose the phone again and it will show.

Cool thanks for that. It doesn't matter since the main sense button is phone anyway. I downloaded adw ex to see if the phone icon would show up in that app drawer and it did, so i imagine its just not supposed to be in the sense app drawer to avoid redundancy.

I think it's this...
I haven't done a single update and the phone isn't in my app drawer. I removed it from my lockscreen in favor of the flashlight (which, among other important things..htc didn't include).
I am having a few issues and since it looks like root is out of the question unless HTC miraculously keeps their promise .. I may just do all the OTAs.

You might as well, when root is found, or when HTC unlocks it, there will have been several more OTA's to worry about. Just enjoy the fixes for now. Just my input.

Yea you're right. If we ever do get root, it isn't gonna be anytime soon. I may as well get this thing as functional as possible.
I fixed the app missing by doing a reset. I was all up to date but the update didn't go into effext until I did a reset.
Sent from my 3vo
So I have done all the updates and today I did a hard reset on my phone. The phone icon was on my lockscreen until I changed some of the other icons. It is no longer there and I cannot select it either.
I am wondering if the small updates stick after a hard reset? I went to check for any updates and it says none available. Is there anyway to install the small updates manually from somewhere?
Edit....Just an FYI after I kept checking for updates, eventually the small app updates was available and now I got my phone icon back. So anyone who hard resets their device after the updates, make sure you keep checking for the small app update because it does not stick after a hard reset and it did not auto prompt me to do so either.
I've looked around as much as possible, if I missed it, not sure where.
I just did the update to Gingerbread on my Thunderbolt (stock, non-rooted)
Before updating, there was a separate Desktop Clock icon in the app drawer (launches straight in into the full screen clock, a.k.a. bedside clock)
I had this launching on plugin with Tasker... but after the update, that app icon is gone, and Tasker can't launch it either.
Is there any way to get that icon back? I looked at the bedside clock apps in the market, and none of them are a efficient and clean as the stock one.
any help or suggestions are appreciated!
Not without root. You can access it through the clock widget though.

Argh, that's unfortunate.
Though I suppose it's possible that someone might build a replacement/mimic app?

Is it me or are there a ton of icons on it? For having such a wide display, it can't fit very many icons up there. Has anyone discovered a way to hide certain ones?

That is what I thought. I can't believe that you don't have an option to limit what it shows.

only way to limit what it shows is to turn things off, and frankly, the only things on the status bar are what you normally find on other phones. They do seem to take up a lot of space. If you turn off NFC (which is something i never really use) the square icon with the curvy "N" in it goes away, and that seems to free up some space.
Personally I am annoyed by the LTE and the spinning Spark logo. Just remove the LTE icon and keep the spinner. Also the battery icon and separate text are fairly silly.
Root, and tweak with the G3 Tweaksbox Xposed module. It is super easy and you can definitely clean up the notification bar.....

Yea, entirely not an option for us yet.
The amount of icons and notifications are crazy. I keep turning stuff off and disabling notifications, but can't seem to turn off enough. I'm more than ready for root.

Hello guys,
One disadvantage to the Health app LG included is that you need to have the smart bulletin running on your homescreen to use it. Well not anymore!!
What I did was make an app that will launch the LG Health app. I used Tasker and just exported a simple app to do this! I will share it here for everyone that wants to use the LG Health app but does not want to have the smart bulletin enabled. So far for me it is working fine.
Just download and install the app and to open you just open your app drawer. If you wish to uninstall, mine is version 1.0, which would be an easy distinguishing factor in the app manager, also mine is a smaller sized app than the actual health app.
Just thought I would share because I am sure some people are limited here and would like this setup. Any questions let me know I will be glad to help!
Any of the shortcut making apps on the play store can do this. I did it that way. Many launchers will, too.
Thanks for the effort, though.

Any way to do this in Themer?
I've found you can long hold the desktop and go to advanced/shortcuts, but I don't see Activities in there.

I understand that, but some people may not, and this also adds it to their app drawer which is a small convenience.
Just throwing it out there as an option.
On Nova launcher, I just have it set as a nova activities widget. Works great. Icon is what it looks like as a shortcut with the circle case.
Just go to widgets, add the activities widget (might require nova prime), and choose LG health. Done.

install apex launcher but make themer your default launcher. this will give you an activities shortcut. there you will find LGhealth.
Thanks, I'll give it a shot. This won't put it in my App Drawer though will it? Using themer, I hate putting shortcuts on the screens, it is too perty.
I'm trying to get Themer to make this possible, they don't understand right now.
Hi everyone,
You can also download the Any Cut app from the Play market to achieve this. At least that's how I did it.
Open the App ---> go to activities and select LG Health from the list.
The only drawback for some could be that it doesn't get the shortcut to the app drawer. But that may no be an issue for everyone.
Hope it helps
