Phone is locked/screen was off -- you get the unlock screen with round buttons.
Phonу was not locked/screen was on -- you get a normal call screen with rectangular buttons to press.

yup that's it. thanks.

Main menu button: wake and notifications?

As a N1 user what I loved more than many other devices is that it has trackball wake and notifications colors for missed calls and sms (though thanks to Mod), do you think the main button under the screen of the SGS2 can do the same?

Probably not. I think the main home button is like in the SGS. For SGS developers made a mod called BLN which uses the capacitive buttons on the sides of the main home button for notifications.
Who knows, guess we will have to wait and see what the great Devs can accomplish.
I think remaping the home button will be easy for XDA devs but use its light for notifications...will take another couple of hours to implement it
Would be nice to be able to see notifications. Although I am not to concerned, I am coming from a iPhone which doesn't have any methods of notifications aside from sound.

...yes it shouldn't take more than couple of hours from xda-devs to get the light out of black piece of plastic....
The homebutton of SGSII already works the same way as trackballwake on N1, no need for development on that one.

The SGS's solution is probably the way to go. Light up the capacitive buttons with a custom kernel.
But I think I read somewhere that the SGS2 does that out of the box.

"And if they glowed in the precursor together with the backlit screen, but now the user can customize their work, there are several options."
It can mean anything, and who knows what google did with the translation. Sorry
They need the back lights to 'fade' in & out or 'pulse'. This gives such a high quality look to a device.

Here is human translation:
And while in the previous model they [buttons] lit up only with the screen backlight, now the user can define how and when the buttons light up from a number of available settings.

what a nonsense! swipe well how do you get to recent apps by swiping! you meant to long press. my question was any solution as (kernel) not to workaround it. it was never designed to work swipe it was designed to work by press, and it does not!
I removed the screen protector and it did improve the touch sensitivity considerably.

I think so, I did the same with my Arc and Tablet S . Improved response and not so much a dust magnet

Swipe actually works fine for the recent apps. Just stop on the dot and wait.
Personally, I find the swipe motion easier then aiming for the silly dot. Never had issues since starting to swipe rather than press. But that's just me.
For me it works when pressing above the dots, not directly at the dots (about halfway from the dots to the display).
Also, I can press anywhere near the dots when using the whole thumb instead of only a fingertip.
so what you saying we cant increase sensivity with kernel

This is typically a hardware restriction. No software changes could possibly enhance the touch sensitivity. These dots weren't made like other Androids' capacitive buttons.
Correct me if I'm wrong though, but to me it doesn't seem possible

Screen Notification Issue

Whenever I receive new message/whatsapp/email/facebook/etc., my screen doesn't lights up to show me the notifications but it only makes the notification sound. Is there any way to turn on the screen when notification received?

It' s not an iPhone that's the reason why you have a notification light BTW it saves battery too. What a nonsense to turn the screen on each time you get a notification. Are iPhones still do that? I don't think that stock sense can do that.

Cool app and works similar to bitesms on iPhone jailbroken app. Only good thing though is the quick reply but imo the graphics on this make it look way out of date compared to the stock messenger. Only thing I don't like is when in your pocket you can accidentally hit reply and have issues if u know what I mean. Great alternative though for the few people that can't live without the screen turning on with a new text, lol. Personally I like it the way it is, does save some unneeded screen time and no possible way to case accidental responses. But if u just stare at ur device all day waiting for a text to appear, I can see the appeal, lol.
is there any other method to pop the screen?
i have been using the power button to pop the screen, is there any other alternative method?

Does anyone know is there any way to disable the power off + volume down shortcut feature? I got my mate 10 for one week so far, and in general, I accidentally take a screenshot at least 5 times a day while I tried to pick up my phone. Am I the only one having this problem? Does anyone have this problem like me?
Beside rooting my phone, I was thinking if I could get into "developer" mode to disable anything?

weird spot on my Xperia 1 screen

Hello everyone,
Today I was checking my phone and I noticed this big oval spot at the bottom left of the screen.. It only appeared in the morning, but I never seen it before! It's like it came all of a sudden! VERY STRANGE ON AN OLED SCREEN!
it's not visible at all on a pitch black background, but only on light colors like white, gray...etc check the attached photos below !
anyone have or had same issue on their Xperia 1? and if anyone knows what caused it to appear and if its gonna be permanent or if it will disappear by the time?
Please let me know in the comments!
thanks for your contribution and help!
Since you are using the gesture mode. I believe it's something with the sideswipe rather than screen/display problem.

yes, since i got the phone which is 1 year and 3 months I've been using gesture swipe option.. do you think it's a software rather than hardware?
Yes. I think it's software.
In my phone, I sometimes see that the clicked gesture keeps showing in the back button.
I have seen it many times.
I guess it's similar to what mine was in yours too.
.... and it exactly looks like you are going back from the app or menu.
Maybe you can try using the two-finger or 3 classic types to check.

do you still see your spot or it's completely disappeared as it never been there?
also, have you tried to factory reset your phone and see if it's software or hardware?
thanks for keeping up!
It's gone but appears sometimes.
Mine disappears by pressing the power button, or back key or recent apps.
