[HELP] Need to downgrade C Spire MX2 - Motorola Droid X2

Currently running DKZ MX2 Alpha 2 on my C Spire MX2. Honestly, it works much worse than I imagined on my phone, a slew of random problems that make it irritating to the point of unusable, including:
Missed texts/multiple texts show up en masse hours after sending
The force close issues on Facebook and Baconreader
Call issues (will connect, no audio from either end, usually ends with having to pull the battery)
I was going to wait for an Alpha 3 or a Beta, but development seems to have stalled (DKZ has a full time job, no blame there).
I need to downgrade, either to the CM9 MX2 beta or to Paranoid Android for MX2. Paranoid Android, I know, required you to be 2.3.4 and I am currently 2.3.6, and C Spire doesn't have an SBF.
I just need to know what my options are. I know downgrading from DKZ CM10 to DKZ CM9 likely has issues too. Just needs some input Any answers I'm going to need a pretty detailed step-by-step, if possible.

I know nothing about the MX2 or C Spire. But I can almost guarantee you that being on 2.3.6 is what is causing all your issues. And the same will probably happen if you use CM9. What SBF files does C Spire have?
P.S. This should have been asked in the Q&A Section.

Nandroid back to stock then install eclipse/cm7 if it's stability you're worried about. I would say go with CM10 over CM9 but that's just me.

His problem is his MX2 is on 2.3.6 on C Spire wireless. These ROMs require 2.3.4

I also have a MX2 The problems he/you are encountering shouldn't be because you're on 2.3.6 I know it doesn't help but it's not the root cause.
For Eclipse, it doesn't matter you're on 2.3.6 you can still flash it (even though it says 2.3.5 required).
For CM7/CM9 you must get the patched (usually from lrs or 754boy...if not I can see what I can do for you) that removes the kernal check on the roms and lets you flash it on the mx2. You'll have to install the wifi patch also.

Well maybe you can help this guy out. I'm not the one with the problem. I have a Droid X2 on Verizon so I dont know anything about the issues he is having. Maybe the MX2 is different but the things I have read is that flashing those ROMs when not on the right android version will cause problems.

Just so everyone knows anyone with the MX2 if at any point it has had 2.3.6 on it, either though sbf, update.zips, or came stock, there is no downgrading, ever(unfortunately). When 2.3.6 is applied it burns a fuse on the board to permenatly lock it on 2.3.6, preventing any downgrading. The same concept is aplied to unlocking the bootloader. when the unlock command is issued and it is implemented it burns a fuse permenately unlocking the device even if we flash a locked sbf over it its still unlocked it just wont say that it is.

Hell no. CM10 has WAY too many random app closes....it was annoying as hell. The interface was smooth but that's useless if the apps don't work. I would personally recommend either Eclipse or CM9. I've been running ParanoidAndroid for the past couple months and besides a few random reboots, its been pretty stable.

[Q] Leaked Gingerbread or Official Gingerbread from Moto/ATT

So, its mid July ...I'm sure the update for Gingerbread is coming ....but apparently ...mostly everyone has installed the leaked gingerbread...now I ask is it worth it to go back to stock to be able to download the new update if so how do I go back? What do I need to flash? This question has probably been answered but I couldnt find it...thanks.

Hello filmusikat,
I see that you're running gingerblur 4.5 on your atrix, so do i. You need to flash 4.1.8.3 official sbf and check for the gingerbread update regulary. I don't think the leaked gb roms are worth to spend time for now. They all have glitches which would effect daily usage.

Hi filmusikat!
The latest ROM has proven to be very stable:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169409
The instructions are included within the thread. Not addressing the unlocking part since your signature already tells you got it.
As for being worthy, I say it is. I was in Gingerblur too, and the performance difference is big.

no glitches affecting any daily usage on me for 4.5.91. 100% functional, and 100% better than froyo.
Remains to be seen which version of GB will be the official release. The leaked versions everyone is flashing may not be the most current which will be offered up.
NOTE SHE/HE NEVER MENTION GB 4.5, actually if she/he indeed installed ota gb update.zip, with you instructions she/he will have a HARD BRICK
So first thing to find out is what actually she/he has installed

Thank you guys for the reply..I am a she btw(to the last post). I currently have kens beta gingerbread rom installed. I know my signature says otherwise..i haven't changed it. So... I've got to say I'm very pleased... I have Gingerbread beta 4-5, hotspot enabled, webtop working perfectly via webtop-joe, Netflix - streamingly like it should. My Atrix feels like it should have come out of the box like this. I honestly don't think within the next year or two they will release another operating system better than GB and by then I'd probably be upgraded to the newest phone AT&T has... 10000000000010001000300004000
Then you should NOT SBF anything from Motorola"
If you want to post your ReservedOdm to look and see if you will be fine to SBF 1.83 again
Probably you are safe if you actually installed Kenth by CDW or moto-fastboot (boot.img and system.img)
But if you actually run the update.zip or any update trought the normal android recovery screen and if you saw the following legend "updating AP20 bootloader" in that case you CAN NOT flash any SBF from Motorola
I hope it help

[Q] About ICS on Razr

Hi guys, I am quite a new learner about my smart phone - razr.
Can anyone answer my two queries?
1. Can my razr be updated to the unofficial ICS which recently published by spryte? [Note, my razr was bought in Hongkong.]
2. If I can update to ICS and I found I would like to "downgrade" back to 2.3.6 system, is it possible?
Thx anyone
Yes, and yes. I recommend you read through the stock ROMs thread in the dev forum before undertaking this, both because you need to be on a 2.3.6 kernel to have everything working in ICS, and im case you want to downgrade again. You'll also need to read up on rooting using the Motofail exploit. Best of luck.
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
Hey onslaught, based on what you said above.. do you think the same requirement of being on a 2.3.6 kernal apply to when (if) the "official" ICS gets pushed out by Moto?
If so, then are those UK users who didn't manually flash to move to 651.167.19 - because they're waiting for Moto to push it out, which they may never do - going to be screwed?
I highly doubt it, ICS normally uses a completely different revision of the linux kernel to GB, our locked bootloader has meant that devs have had to modify ICS to work with the latest kernel we have - 2.3.6. The official ICS build will have a different kernel, and depending on how Moto choose to construct and deploy the OTA, any firmware revision they like could upgrade to it. I assume whatever is the latest in every market at the time will be the revision that market's OTA checks for.

Have you reflashed the ROM? Which ROM did you flash? What steps did you do to flash? Bootstrap or Safestrap? Lots more details to fully help you out.
That probably means either:
You didn't flash the right ROM (GSM/CDMA)
or
You don't have Safestrap 1.0.8 & flashed it on Safestrap.
I use bootrap, but my device, after rebooting, it again freezes on the dual core screen..
[Note: I have also tried flashing the safetrap on my device, still the result is the same.]

Please Try wiping cache in stock recovery or cwm. I always face this problem after flashing ics cm or akop. Solution is hold power button+volume down to make phone to work.As soon as phone is off just press power button + both volume down & volume up to go to fast boot menu. But I fear one thing... in the warranty, motorola says that even if THEY unlock, give permission or anything, the phone lost the warranty...

the 2.3.5 SBF kinda doesn't make sense right now unless you want to stick with it cause you can't root it. You have to root 2.3.4 then apply the rootkeeper and then get to 2.3.5 via OTA update or flash via recovery.

[Q] Question on Flashing Roms

First I want to thank everyone on this forum for all the nice work, and great information. Now my question, My wife and I both have Droid x2 phones, and have both seen increased issues since the 2.3.5 OTA from Verizon. I am a very tech-savy guy, I do IT for a living, but still am not 100% comfortable with flashing phones. I have SBF'd my Droid x2 a few times, and finally got the courage to flash Eclipse 2.3 on it. I would like to explore some different roms, but am wonder how to tell which stock(2.3.4 or 2.3.5) I should have installed before flashing a rom? I did read that Eclipse 2.3 you needed to be stock 2.3.5, but I am looking at CM7 and CM9, but could not see where it was stated to be on 2.3.4 or 2.3.5. Would someone be so kind as to give me a bit of incite on this. Does a rom have to say it is for you phone to flash it? example I was looking at CM10, jellybean rom but do not see it listed for the droid x2?
Thanks for all your help

yes sir it MUST be in the droid x2 forums. and in order to go to ANY other rom from eclipse (since you OTA'd to 2.3.5) is to sbf . you can make an sbf disc im sure you can find in the main dx2 forum. its super easy, i have done it dozens of times. but that is the only way to get back to 2.3.4 and try out cm7, cm9, or the other ports. all of these are only partially working. just so you know. eclipse is most likely the best we have, but the others are still awesome to try out, they just have bugs. or non working parts.

[Q] A question about which kernel we should be on ...

I updated my CM-10 over the weekend to dkz's A3 release but looking in my "About Phone" I see my kernel verion is 2.6.32.9-00005-g22440aba, Baseband Version is n_03.13.28s.
Is this the correct kernal and baseband I should be on or is there something later (other than 2.35 which is for Eclipse)?
I used this same kernel with CM-7 and CM-10-A2 with no problems.
Just wondering.
The kernel version and baseband are pretty irrelevant on this phone. What's most important is the version of Android you started on. Since we cannot change our kernel you use whatever kernel version is in the OTA version of android that you are using. The kernel for Android 2.3.5 will ONLY work for eclipse. The kernel for 2.3.4 is the only one you can use with all the other ROMs for this phone. If you were on the 2.3.5 kernel and tried to flash CM10 the kernel check would detect that you're on the wrong version and would abort the flash. So if you're running CM10 on your phone then you are on the correct version. Hope this answers your question.

Sweet, done and done. Got CM10 Alpha 3 installed succesfully.
Well, except I can't figure out why I can't sync my contacts with my Google account. And how I'm supposed to get the Google Play store to work.
But I guess that comes with me being an utter Cyanogen noob.

That was my mistake. I had a "Google Apps" file for another device I was messing with (Kindle Fire HD) and silly me thought it was the one I needed :silly:
I wiped everything and am starting again with the right one this time :good:
I gotta remember to keep my files better organized so I don't screw it up again.
EDIT: Yep, got things right this time. So nice to be able to run CM finally!
