[Q] Sony Tablet S Android 3.2 root Error - Sony Tablet S

Hi all! I recently got a Sony Tablet S on stock honey comb 3.2.
I installed all drivers and tried rooting it using some tools provided on this forums including the latest AiO tool but it gives me an error message.
Says it cannot be rooted because of the kernel and something about being "locked down".
I read that devices upgraded to R5 can't be rooted but I don't know if that's my case as I bought it from someone and don't know if they upgraded it to R5 or which android firmware it's on R5. Mine it's on android 3.2
Can someone point me in the right direction?
-Thanks in advance.

3.2 is old skewl. R5 is ICS. I suggest you read my faq and look at post #2. You will need to flash the 3.2.1R2 to root. Hopefully you have the US tab as there is not many 3.2.1 files around.
Do not accept any OTA updates.

Is it kernel 10?

Not the issue he is talking about 3.2 NOT 3.2.1.
3.2 is not rootable where is 3.2.1r2 < kernel 10 is ROOTABLE
Or he could ICS, R1 or even R5, NOT R5a though

Thank you man! I was losing all hope. It's an US tab thankfully, just point me into the right thread and I'll start digging in as soon as I get home.

Below is a link to where I detailed my steps in rooting/updating a Sony Tablet S from stock 3.2 to 3.2.1r2, which I rooted and used to install pre-rooted 4.0.3r1a. The 3.2.1r2 and 4.0.3r1a files I used are both US WiFi Only. 4.0.3r1a is no longer available online but I can upload it to 4share for you to download if you want. You do not really need to install 4.0.3r1a. A better solution is after you have rooted 3.2.1r2 installed, use it along with Condi's ALLinONE tool to install his pre-rooted doubleFLASH 4.0.3r5a with r1a's system recovery utility; link added below. I hope you find this information helpful.

Thanks man! I flashed ICS 120410 for easy root because I'm planning to upgrade to R5A with root. But on ICS 120410 everything was working fine until after root.. now the PlayStore icon shows but it says "App not installed". And the app list just shows the official ones from Sony :/ I also tried to upgrade to R5A through AiO to see if this would fix it but when I chose option 3 it came out a red screen and said "build.incremental value to high, reapply 'rescue-backdoor'" I copied the R5A to the SD and that's what it said.
UPDATE: Did some digging with the AiO tool. Trying to install the mooded google play store app from the options. Let's see how it goes
UPDATE 2: Didn't worked :/

Factory reset then root again?? It sometimes does that

I recommend you wait until Condi posts a new version of his S.onyTablet.S [FLASHER] tool, which is expected to happen soon. Condi recently said the new version will contain several fixes and additional firmware versions.

Look At condi AiO Tool,
And for you, you need "root access" first also with Condi's tool
And then you got an other problem, if you do not af any Adb stuff installed jet.
So easy installation for someone that doesn't have anything on his pc jet. Nope then there isn't a quick installation.

Just download 2.7 AiO and switch USB Debugging on ( On your tab ) and press 1 with condi's tool
then you will have root then follow the ICS Quide make shure that you have MTB drive installed properly!
Edit>> You will find a Quick ICS quide on top of Condi's AiO 2.7 topic in blue text.

Secure Version is 3, same like any other ICS leaks. Which mean you can't downgrade back to GB.

There is no method to root it. Only if you upgrading from 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 by OTA Root Keeper. This is SBF so if you flash it you'll lose ROOT.

Could you please upload it to mediafire or dropbox? That 115.com download speed is killin' me!
I'm just a consumer, I usually don't upload things.
Why would you want to install this?
Do you have a chinese version xt910? If no, better don't mess with it.
In fact I have LATAM RAZR but my current ROM is previous Chinese ICS leak which version is 6.7.2_GC-120-175; I've flashed it with mmcblk replacement - and that's why I'm asking someone to share. I know what I gonna mess with. Moreover, there would be guys who will try it sooner or later for sure, so the earlier we share it the faster we get some feedback.
宜しくお願い致します。

Again, this fastboot upgrade your cdt main secure version to 3.
Previous chinese leak was 2. That's why you can revert back to GB.
While i'm not an expert, i guess it will be hard to go back to LATAM after flashing this.
You know your phone better..
Well this is interesting
I'll keep my eyes on this thread

What I know works is fastbooting a 4.0.3 boot.img, booting into BP Tools from the boot menu, rooting there, then fastbooting back to 4.0.4 boot.img. There isn't a 4.0.4 root method at this time other than this. So find a 4.0.3 FB file and use that boot.img.
Isn't that's how older leak rooting method works?

Unfortunately, there's no macthing 403 kernel with secure version 3 & cid 4 / 7.
You guys that have xt912 just lucky, because you have a 403 kernel leak (secure version 3 cid 2 too be specific).
2whirleyes: Again, no need to tell me that. Let me suppose you think I don't know about problems with downgrading? You're wrong if you think so. OK keep it but don't "warn" me once again, please.
Am I the only one who wouldn't go back to so-called "stable" GB after flashing ICS leak? Previous Chenese leak I currently running on my device is MUCH BETTER than any GB I've ever had. And after all, 2.3.6 upgrades for LATAM RAZRs were rolled out about a month ago - after all other regions. Who wants to wait till August - rise you hand up high, please.

If your tablet region is US, you can use system update to install release 5.
You will lose root, but you can re-root easily with Bin4Ryan tool.

Sorry did not see Region:US at the bottom of your post. Now that you are US region, Chinese is irrelevant. Hence why I was confused.
You can install any US firmware now.

[Q] Update download for Sony Tablet S SGPT111GB/S

I've tried to find an update for my Sony tablet S to put it on the SD card and then upgrade it form there!
My tablet is freezing at the Sony logo and I've already tried to do a factory reset and it doesnt work. It sais that some files are missing.
And now I want to try to load the update from the SD card and for that i need the update.
I;ve seen here the ICS update zip files for UK for my tablet on some topics here on XDA but when I click them it says that the file is missing.
Any joy? Exactly same tablet exactly the same problem.
