Hi all,
Once again, I've hit a wall with my phone. I apologize ahead of time for the length of this post, but i want to be very clear about what happened so I can get it resolved as soon as possible. Also, I have searched for hours to find an answer to this problem, but I've failed to find anything that helps.
Earlier this week I was running Bionix Fusion 1.1 but with all the buzz on the forums about the new 2.2 ROMs I decided to try one. I downloaded Axura 2.0.5 and backed up everything with Titanium Backup and ROM Manager. I then went through ROM Manager to perform the install. This is were I fear I messed something up. I renamed the .zip file from StockKernelAXURA.zip to update.zip (just like when I installed Bionix). Booted into Clockwork (through ROM Manager) and flashed the zip. Everything looked fine during the install, but I'm stuck at the Vibrant load screen.
I found one solution that uses Odin to reflash back to factory, which I did and everything was great... but then I re-flashed and tried Axura 2.0.5 again using the same method. Now I can't boot up (still stuck on the Vibrant load screen) and I can't enter Download mode. I've tried all kinds of button and usb plug-in sequences. Nothing! Please, I know someone out there is thinking "Noob... this is a simple fix!" I'm hoping that person reads this and can lend a helping hand.
Thanks in advance!
This always works for me take out battery plug in usb to phone and computer hold down volume keys while holding the volume keys place the battery back in this should take you to download mode if it doesn't your phone may be hardware locked there are methods of making a device to force download mode but try what I said first then if that doesn't work at least you have an idea of what else to look for
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
It worked! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I knew there had to be a way I was missing! I'm flashing back to stock (again) and I'm going to try flashing Axura again... but seeing as the method I used has failed twice so far, any advise? I love how Team Whiskey provided detailed instructions for flashing Bionix Fusion... so shouldn't the same process work for different ROMs? Regardless, now I have another trick up my sleeve.
Thanks again!
Flash it through clockwork in rom manager choose install from sd then go to where it is in your phone click on it that should send you to clockwork recovery then go to install.zip from sd then navigate to whatever folder its in then go to it, it should install you dont have to change the name
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
If your unsure about anything I said dont be afraid to ask if I have the answer I'll help you out

I'm assuming you're stuck at cache Just take out your SD card, the large one. I always odin with my sd card out. It gets past that phase where you can get stuck. That will work, and DO NOT rename the {insert rom name here}.zip file to update.zip, just enter clockwork mod recovery and choose install zip from sd card and find it, BUT you NEED to
1. Wipe cache partition
and
2. Wipe DALVIK cache (in advanced menu)
BEFORE installing a rom.

So rather than start new thread I thought id continue on this one saying that I have the same problem only no matter what I do I can not force any mode at all. My phone is currently stuck stating that it is converting data partition to optimize for ext 4.
I really dont know what to do at this point.
I tried the following steps
1. Download all the files required in the "BOOT CYCLE" section of this post.
2. Remove everything from your phone (SD card, sim, battery).
3. Plug your phone into your computer WITHOUT the battery, as you have already taken it out in the last step.
4. Press and HOLD vol. up and vol. down.
5. As you are HOLDING these buttons, reattach your battery.
6. You should be in Download Mode.
7. Unplug phone from USB
8. Follow steps 4-8 from the "BOOT CYCLE" section.
with no results. It doesnt even give my phone enough time to show the charging indicator it just automaticlaly boots.
OK i got it to go into download mode. i just plugged in the cord and held down the volume rocker.
no recovery mode
I have the same problem I can't get into Recovery mode I have an HTC G2, I was installing a new kernel, then the recovery Mode stop working, Got stuck in HTC Logo.
Any idea how to fix the problem or what's my problem??? i'd already try some tips but nothing works....
try using the vibrant toolbox to flash the new rom

You most likely made that backup when voodoo was disabled and now when you restored it, voodoo was enabled. Try booting up in recovery[VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER then let go of POWER and keep holding VOL UP + VOL DOWN] and installing a voodoo kernel like overstock.
That may be what happened, but dont know anything about the history of the phone. I have tried over and over to get into recovery mode and it wont go past the Vibrant load screen :/
I am also stuck at the vibrant boot screen.
I was trying to update a rom via CWM on my phone, the phone restarted and is now stuck at the vibrant screen.
I have had trouble connecting my vibrant to the computer before. I am not sure that even if i get my phone into dl mode i might not be able to connect to ODIN.
Please help!!
Sometimes my I5500 won't turn on.
This has already happened 2 times (with two different firmwares I5500XWJPL and I5503TTLPJP9). The phone shows absolutely no signs of life - screen is black, no sounds, nothing.
I tried everything: pressing VolumeDown+Center+Power, VolumeDown+Home+Power, with or without battery/SIM/charger/SD. Tried removing battery for 30 minutes, charging battery in external charger.
Sometimes when charger is connected, it shows green battery on the screen, but still won't boot.
Last times I spent several hours fiddling with it until it finally turned on..
Can someone tell my if there is a fast way to revive the phone next time this happens?
Maybe your arm11boot is damaged, but still partly working. You need replace that partition. I saw arm11boot partition image in one Russian FW. I can't remember actual name. You can try that, but caution. You might brick your phone compleatly!
sorry for reviving this thread.
but I got the same problem now. Tried to use ROM Manager to install CWM Recovery (following a blogpost explaining how to install a Custom ROM on the SG5). Might have accidentally clicked a different CWM Rec. version than I thought I did. However, ROM manager showed a message, telling me that CWMR was installed correctly.
So I wanted to boot into CWMR up to flash my device with the latest CyanogenMod 7 port from MADTeam. Used the "boot into recovery" option from ROM manager for that purpose. The next thing I know is my phone not reacting to anything.
Tried all methods mentioned afore (Vol- + Home + Power / Vol- + Center + Power, with/w.o. SD card and/or battery inserted). Screen keeps being off, no sign of life, phone wont even do anything when plugged to my PC or a charger.
The phone has been rooted properly before and was running Stock 2.1. Houston, we've got a problem.

Take your battery out, put it back in and turn your phone on, then it will boot up into recovery mode. I also have this problem from time to time, sometimes it boots into recovery, sometimes not and i have to remove/replace the battery.
I actually thought that this might be a useful feature for say - if you wanted to upgrade a friends phone to cyanogenmod in the pub, for example.
did try that. now even had the battery removed for about an hour. put it back in. still no reaction on pressing the power button or one of the combinations that should put it into recovery or download mode. no sign of life when plugging the phone to my computer or the charger.
I do fear the worst, though I dont know how ROM manager was actually able to brick the phone that badly.

In that case then this also happened to me - While exploring the rom manager application after first ever flashing my phone i accidentally selected the wrong phone model from the 'flash clockworkmod recovery' option and my phone was gone forever. Perhaps your problem is similar.
(Luckily it was under warranty and they replaced it. The method worked so well in fact it happened 'accidentally' a second time i acquired a 3rd i5500 out of the box )
bought mine already used, so no chance for a warranty replacement :/
gonna give it a shot with a usb jig now, maybe i can get the thing into d/l mode with that, so I can revive it with odin.

what about the Emergency DLoad Mode, which is not the Download Mode? Did you try it?
{ brvsn ~ CM7 on GT-I5500 ~ Tapatalk }
how do I access emergency d/l mode?
UPDATE
I actually CAN get download mode (or what I assume it to be) running by pressing Vol- + Menu + Power (while Vol- + Home + Power wont do anything, nor does the USB jig that arrived today). Took me some time to discover this, as this doesnt seem to be the usual 3-button-combination used. BUT: while the phone is now recognized by my PC, it wont show anything on the screen.
Odin (tried 4.28 and 4.43 on both win7 x64 and x32 and everyting related to Kies shut down) does now detect my phone. However, it always gets stuck at "Setup Connection" when I try to flash the stock rom or CWMR. Tried different approaches (from starting DL-mode with the phone being connected to my PC to separately starting DL mode and then connecting, starting it up with the battery already being in place, starting it up with sliding the battery in place while holding the 3 buttons etc.), none of them gets me further so far.
Another hint I found was setting the Baud-rate of the Samsung mobile modem to 203400, but this, unfortunately, didnt change anything.
Anyone got a lead on how to get Odin finally started properly?

ops, sorry: I miss your previous message!!
Now I got it and read this last post.. let some time to think about it, I'll replay soon.. but, generally speaking, at this point there's not so much you can do..
If you can get it into Download or Recovery mode, then you should be fine.

download mode is Vol - / Central Button / Power..
Im aware of that. However, Vol- + Menu + Power is the only key combination that the phone will react upon.
Anyway. Brought it to a mobile phone shop on friday, called them on monday and according to them, the phone should be fixed by tomorrow, wednesday. Seems like ROM manager has done damage that cant be undone without knowing how to handle a JTAG device. But at least its not completely broken. Learning that will cost me 25 Euros, though.
One final update to this: Got the phone back today, they were indeed able to fix it.
Conclusion:
While installing a non-fitting CWM-Recovery through ROM Manager will make your Galaxy 5 unfixable via Odin, it still can be saved by making proper use of a JTAG.

So basically, a friend of mine handed me a phone that he tried flashing a custom ROM with Stock Recovery... Cant do much at the moment with the phone. Constantly gives off " Force Close " crap and its extremely laggy. I've heard to use ODIN? I'm not too familiar with this kind of problem. Any solution?
P.S. , I cannot get into download mode. I tried factory reset. I tried getting my way through the phone by dodging all the force close pop-ups. No good.

Can't get into Download Mode? Impossible. Plug your USB cable into your computer, and while plugging it into your phone, press and hold the volume down button until you see the shoveldroid. It is actually impossible to not be able to go into download mode.
And please follow Droidstyle's excellent guide on how to restore back to stock. He has links to all the files you need. Look around for it
Also, before you do anything in Odin, look at the guide, and make sure your cable works. If the Odin reflash of the stock ROM doesn't work, try a different cable, and if that doesn't work, reinstall the Samsung drivers.
Yup. I plugged my cable into my computer(s) and held the volume down button and plugged it in. I've waited half a minute and nothing. I can still go into stock recovery.

so what is the exact recovery version that you are able to boot into
and what is the exact Rom name / version that boots up
lets at least start with the above information 1st
edit::: some other options are
adb reboot download,
or use a terminal to "reboot download"
...
you may be looking at the unbrickable mod found here
or a
Jig - This is a tiny Frankensteinian device made of a small chip, a transistor, and the tip of the little micro-USB connector that you plug into your phone to charge it or attach it to your computer. When your phone will not go into download mode through normal means, putting a jig into the phone when the battery is in will make your phone go into download mode. You can make one yourself or buy one online for less than $10.
.
This is the recovery i get into. :
Android system recovery <2e>
Samsung Recovery Utils
- for BML -
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

I have a jig. The I turned the phone off, plugged in the jig, and nothing.
And more. The phone doesnt charge the battery. I use a seperate accessory to charge the battery. The phone reads that it has a USB in since it says on the status bar.
So what didnt work for me were :
Jig method
Volume down ( no battery ) plugging into PC
Volume up down ( with battery ) plugging into PC
Volume Down ( plug in battery after pressing Vol. Down ) plugging into PC
so it won't go into download mode, even with a jig? sounds like your friend killed his/her fascinate. but you can make them feel better by advertising it as a coaster.
hi, im new here, the problem i have is this: i have a galaxy s2 i777, i had the issue that whenever i restarted my phone it would go into recovery mode, that was after i tried to put cyanogenmod 10 in it, before that, my power button stopped working after trying to root with framaroot and choosing supersu and restarted, so i had to flash because i couldnt choose an option on recovery mode with my power button not working and i did, and flashed to 4.1.2, then i tried to root again with framaroot but this time superuser, and when i restarted the phone it got stuck on samsung, so i tried to flash it again but now im getting stuck on factoryfs.img with odin, ive tried with 3 different roms, ICS 4.0.3, 4.0.4 and JellyBean 4.1.2, but always the same, also, when i restart now i get the message "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode on kies".
havent found any solution in no forum wich is why im postin this here, its an emergency, im without a phone right now because of this!!
i hope you can help me!! Thanks.

You need to perform a wipe data/factory reset from within recovery. Since you have a bad power button, and cannot select that in stock recovery, you either need to get a touch recovery onto the phone, or you need to get the power button replaced. I'm not aware of a touch recovery that is in tar format that you can flash with Odin, but maybe someone else knows. Also, the recovery will need to match the system so that the phone will boot. Since you have flashed stock 4.1.2 but subsequent attempts to flash did not complete, you probably still have stock 4.1.2 on the phone. If so, that would require AJK v4.9 NoSwap, but again, I'm not aware of a tar version of that kernel.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
With regard to your other thread, there is a UCKH7 pit file in the Download Repository, but no one has posted a pit from UCMD8. I would expect that they are the same, though, since these phones never get repartitioned when upgraded. However, I doubt that will help your situation. What you need to do is perform a wipe data/factory reset.

If you can solder and are handy at such things, you can get the replacement button for about $10 or $15. Or you can send it out to a repair service for usually about $40 to $50.
While you have a faulty power button:
To turn the phone on, hold down vol+ and vol- and plug in the usb cable, as if you were starting download mode. When you get to the warning screen, remove the cable and press the vol- button to cancel. The phone will boot into system.
There are multiple apps in the play store that turn the screen on and off. A good one is Gravity Screen - On/Off.

ill try with that app, thanks! and about the sim, i checked and i have no imei now nor baseband, theyre both unknown, any idea about it? how can i recover it?
Hi guys.
I seriously need help right now.
My friend bought an s2 i9100 in cheep which was stuck on bootloop and he thought it could be repaired.
so we don't know what caused the problem.
But i was surprised that few repair shops weren't able to fix it.
let me explain the problem:-
when we hold power button or plug in a charger it show the logo, goes into recovery and reboots repeating it in loop.
so whenever i charge it goes into this loop.
we can use volume up & down key in those 2-3 seconds in recovery but not the power key.
we can access download mode and it doesn't reboots automatically but going into recovery mode manually also start this loop.
it's like we are only going in recovery mode again & again.
i installed this file "I9100XWLPW_I9100ODDLPC_I9100DDLPB_HOME.tar.md5" through odin and also used the pit file "I9100_STOCK-System_2GB-Data_512MB-Preload.pit" but nothing changed.
i don't know what to do now.
i cant find any gingerbread rom to test.
i don't know how it can be fixed,
so please help me.
Update
After doing a lot of things I finally managed to boot into system but the problem is not solved.
I flashed i9100XXLSJ which had modem and CSC files other than the PDA only.
The device actually booted in system (just the samsung logo) but it was a bootloop.
This time I kept holding power button by which the bootloop stopped and it successfuly booted but power button is not working inside the system so I can't reboot, power off or even switch on the screen.
By holding down up vol + home + power for a considerable long time I can boot into recovery. But again the power button is not working so I can't select any option.
I flashed a cwm touch recovery which is working.
So can anyone tell me what is the problem here and what can I do to actually fix it.
If you have problems with flashing stock ROM, consider flashing a custom ROM, like Cyanogenmod.

Try flashing the 4.1.2 JellyBean leak ROM via ODIN linked in this thread (scroll down to you see "Another option for i9100"):

This will factory reset the device which may hopefully resolve your problems.

Actually the ROM you are talking about is the ROM which I flashed which is mentioned in my second post " update".
PDA = CODE_I9100XXLSJ.tar
PHONE = MODEM_I9100XXLS6.tar
CSC = CSC_HOME_OXX_I9100OXXLS1.tar.
That's how I got this far, previously it was impossible to boot into system.

In CWM touch recovery, you can swipe (or touch) to confirm the option.
Try factory reset. Reboot.
If that doesn't help, try wiping system, cache and data.
Let me know how that goes

Wiping data/factory reset and cache doesn't solve the problem.
There is format option in 'mounts and storage' so I formated system, data, cache & also emmc. But the bootloop is not gone. The only thing that is gone is the ROM because of those formats. I have yet to to install the ROM again.
maybe is a faulty power button... Do u have to push it down a little harder than normal?

It might be the problem of power button. Sometimes it boots as soon as I put the battery. It always boot when I plug in charger. Sometimes it boots after I press and hold the power key for maybe 15 second & sometimes it doesn't boot when holding power key & I have leave hold again to boot it. And important thing is when it boots, I have to hold the power key until the key lights up to stop it from bootloop but then the power is Jo longer functional in system. Same goes for recovery. But this is the only till nowROM which actually boots into system. Other ROMs were booting into recovery automatically.
I wanted to test cyanogenmod but I am not able to install twrp. I followed the steps here using HeimdallSuite https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxys2i9100.html
I had no problem in the steps but the recovery is not actually replaced when I boot into it.
The recovery that I have currently is not able to flash isorec_twrp or any cyanogenmod directly. It always shows error code 7.
I am going to replace the power button with my friend's s2 (other friend who have an s2 laying around) only to see it works.
Anyways tell me how to install twrp successfuly.
The actual power button needs to soldered, I thought It would be a connector, so I am not going to do that. But as far as I can tell, the plastic button isn't the problem.
