Yes, you can pretty easily do this by using android wired tether http://code.google.com/p/android-wired-tether/downloads/detail?name=wired_tether_1_4.apk it does require root. If your not rooted check out Clockworkmod tether http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour..._YDoDQ&usg=AFQjCNFQEtmLKMRHZOD7WLCQsCFqiCIXvA.

There's always a way mate!
Detailed guide plus apps, both for phone and PC.
It's called reverse Android tethering
Also there's a stock app that can do that using usb, I think it was called something like settings

Issues with OS X tethering?

I just bought my S3 not too long ago and have noticed that I can't seem to tether to my MacBook Pro under OS X, but it seems to work fine under Windows. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this and if there was a fix? Loving the phone but it's really a deal breaker for me if this is a consistent issue. Thanks!

What do you mean by "tether" ? Are you trying to get network connection going through the S3 on your mac via USB tether? Or are you talking about file transfer?

USB Wired Tether?

Is there one that works for the Rezound? This was last updated in 2010...
http://code.google.com/p/android-wired-tether/
...so I don't think that would. Anyone know of another one that has the same design as the newest Wifi Tether, but it's USB?
PDANet works fine with it.
Have you tried clockworkmod tether?

Lite version stays free but blocks https. That's pretty much industry standard.
Blocks https ? How is that industry standard, maybe amongst the tether app devs but not real world

You answered your own question. This limitation is pretty much standard amongst all the free apps.

how would you do wired tethering to a tablet? foxfi is only needed for wireless i belive. if you want to do wireless tethering just get wifi tether. works great
I am trying easy tether lite.
Basically its connected to PC and app is working, it works on websites. However things like ssh connections dont appear to even try to use the connection they still go over my wired broadband connection. According to the FAQ only UDP is blocked, so I have emailed the author to see if its a true internet sharing app or just for web.
After a bit of research, I have found the following methods for full, free USB tethering with no limitations and for free USB reverse tethering:
I found this app for USB tether. It is entirely free and allows https and all. It took me a bit of time to figure out how to make it work: I did it by going to Chrome Settings > Advanced settings > Proxy settings > LAN settings > Use proxy server for LAN; Adress: localhost; Port: 8080.
Then I started the connection from the app, also set to port 8080. Although Windows never recognized any internet connection, it worked in Chrome.
To switch back to my DSL internet or Wi-Fi, I had to disable the proxy again.
For the reverse tether, I found this Windows tool. It allows reverse tethering with nothing installed on the phone (although root is needed). The only problem with it is that the Play Store is unable to download over its connection, but one can always go to play.google.com in the phone's browser and download things from there.
easy tether does actually work on everything, I paid for it now.
I got no idea if any free apps that have full tethering. CM7 rom supposedbly has it but for some reason the option isnt on my phone's version of CM7.

[Q] Wifi hotspot without rooting??

So my buddy just got this phone and he's saying foxfi no longer works for him(from what I've read this seems to be accurate).
He's on an unlimited plan with Verizon and he's wanting me to root his phone tonight so he can get a hotspot app... Before I root it i wanted to make sure 1. That there isn't any hotspot apps that work with the DNA without rooting and 2. I wanted to make sure there are some hotspot apps that work after root. I've been researching and it sounds like most people are saying you're sol unless you go to a share every thing plan through Verizon.
Thanks for the info!
I want to know exactly the same thing. I need internet for my tablet. I'd rather not root, but I will if something works for sure after that.

Afaik there are no non root apps that work.

Yeah, I've done both of those. Do you need a non-stock kernel?

They are using WiFi Tether which you need to be rooted to use.

I did this for someone's Verizon Galaxy Note II the other day. There's a modified version of Wifi Tether in the instructions, but you might be able to get away with just copying the settings used here. Let me know if it helped.

I am not rooted. 100% stock. I have not unlocked this phone. I unlocked my first one and then it died several days later of a hardware failure and so I am waiting this time to make sure this new device is solid.
All I do is go to settings>more>Mobile Network Sharing>Turn on Mobile Hotspot. I setup the wifi there and then connect with my tablet.
Perhaps its because i am on the Share Everything Plan?

WIFI Hotspot without rooting?

Is it possible to make HTC One MAX a wifi hotspot without rooting? When I had EVO, I used PDANET. Are there any equivalents?
This is default feature available. No need root for it. Look for it at settings/more/wireless network/mobile sharing

don't want to pay $20.00 a month

I know that feature, but for that I have to pay monthly charge and also it has a limit, I do not want either.
Even with root I am unable to get tethering apps to work with this phone. I've tried easy tether pro and Wi-Fi tether for root users.

I am on Sprint
don't have an answer for you if you don't have root but for those that do I use Wifi Tether for Root found here (https://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/). Its not perfect I usually have to start and stop it a couple of times before my Mac will recognize it. As well you can use this (http://www.clockworkmod.com/) for usb tethering, I got it working on my linux box, but the PC app does not work on my Mac OS X Mavericks.
Foxfi, I tried it on the Verizon store demo and it worked fine lol. I havent bought it yet, still thinking about it but Foxfi woeked just fine on it.
