UPDATE:
Spot the noob. I had an afterthought after pretty much exhausting all other options. I had stopped a few apps from booting at startup.
Turns out thats exactly what was preventing my sms from being sent. Doh! Lesson learnt.
Is there a list thats shows background apps and their purpose is? / what's safe to disable etc
Ok so I had PA 2.54 on my i9300 (xxdlid) for a month or so there and sms were functioning normally when all of a sudden they stopped sending. I was still recieving sms but none would send. I don't get an error message - sms just continualy say sending.
So I thought maybe this is a small bug or something so I'd tried WanamLite v5.2 - but I am still encountering the same problem.
I have checked my message centre number & network status - both are fine. I also tried my friends sim in my phone (who can send sms fine through his stock s3) and they still wouldn't send.
Any idea's guys? Any help at all would be much appreciated!!?
Is there any bit of software that I could use to test that the 'radio' / hardware is functioning correctly?
Cheers
David

Ok, I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 on T-Mobile, not sure if this is the same for all carriers.
I have been using Go SMS Pro. Never had any issues till they updated it a few updates ago..I have uninstalled it and reinstalled. The problem is, that some Text (SMS)messages won't send, they FAIL. It don't matter if it's short (5 or less words) or long. or to who it gets sent to. I can, however, exit out of this app, and try to send it using the stock App that came with the phone and it sends without any issues. I am lost at this point as to why it keeps happening, or how to fix it.
Has anyone else experienced this isuue and if so, how have you fixed it?
I have alos tried to use Hancent SMS and it also did the same thing..
hmm i'm having a similar problem, but mine does send after a while instead of failing to send completely. Sometimes, my text messages will be stuck during the "sending" animation, where the green arrow just keeps loading and doesn't stop (which means it's not sent out). After a while, it will send out, but that's usually after i send a txt to someone else or if i exit and restart GO SMS PRO, or do something else. I'm not sure exactly but it just works after a while.
It's nothing to do with bad signals either. I'm not sure if it's because I've updated my Motorola Milestone to CM7 RC1, because i've never had this problem before on CM7 RC0. I dunno, it could be due to basebands as well? For my Milestone, I can choose to switch between basebands in the settings (provided by CM7 itself), but i've never had this problem before so i dunno....
I actually gave up on that app...happened quite too many times.. I now use Hancent SMS and never have this issue again... It also was happening to a co-worker and she did the same thing after I told her about it..
sms go pro sending issues in latest version
Using go sms pro 4.73 with Google voice integrated and for some reason when I send out one text it just lags in the sending mode.I have to actually send a 2nd text for both texts to send out, very annoying. Any ideas why and how to fix would be appreciated. Using galaxy s3 on at&t. Thanks for Any suggestions

Sorry, as silly as this sounds...I gave up on this app a long time ago and went with Hancent SMS Pro...only had this issue once with them and found out on my type of phone Galaxy S2, I can't disable the other SMS apps in Handcent, I had to leave it enabled...so try that with Go SMS Pro...I don't know/remember if Go SMS had this option in the Settings...Good Luck...let us know if that worked or not...
Had the same problem using Go SMS with two SIM cards. Both failed to send to certain numbers; so it's not an issue with providers. Solved this way: Go SMS settings, More tools, SMS blocker, Settings, disable all black list and white lists. The app runs normally again. The developers should take note of this.
hhhmmmm... same here... I can't send SMS using GO SMS Pro to my Samsung Galaxy Note 1. But I can send message using the ordinary app here which has only 80 characters.... What should I do? How can I fix it? But it works in my Motorola phone.. hhhmmm....
Just go to your app manager, then choose ho sms pro, then below the premissions part. You can see the options on sending premium sms. Select ASK and try if it works again...
I've been noticing that a good number of my sms cant be sent..I get the message saying failure. My phone has full reception so that isnt the issue. Some messages had to resend 2-3x till it went through. I am using the stock samsung sms messaging, if that matters.
Has anyone else had this experience?
TBH, I just experienced this yesterday, but not exactly the same, ie, it didnt say failure, just kept showing the loading icon next to the message.
I installed go sms and it works from there.
Not a fix however, but a work around.
In the end, i just wiped and reflashed from scratch and now the stock messaging app is sending again....
yeah for the most part its fine...but it has its hiccups at times where i'd have to resend a couple of times till it will finally go through.
I had this last week , turns out the sms center number had been deleted from options, once i readded the number it was fine, sorry i cant can get the exact name of that option because i dont have the phone right now, courier has just picked it up as im changing it due to the yellow screen tint issue
Hi,
I recently helped a colleague purchase a Galaxy SIII phone here in China, Guangzhou and made sure I checked the phone over completely before I purchased it.
I've done a search on the forums and check out anything that may be similar, but to no avail.
The problem is:
The phone will not receive any text messages, or at least they don't go through to the messaging app.
Text messages were being received normally for around a week
I disabled a bunch of pre-installed Chinese crap that is unfortunately not un-installable as it's baked into the ROM
It happened once, so I factory reset it, and then tested it. The text messages worked fine
I then disabled the Chinese stuff once again and installed Skype. Just to be sure, I sent more test text messages, and they were all received fine.
Around one week later, here we are, she says that text messages are not being received again.
All other functions of the phone are working. Internet / Edge network, sending texts, Play store, everything. Just not the receiving of texts!
I'm fairly confused as to this behaviour, particularly as it seems the text messages are working for a time limited period.
I had some inklings of what it could be:
- The SIII takes a micro-sim, the shop "manually" chopped the SIM using a cutter. Could this have damaged the SIM and caused this behaviour?
- The phone itself is faulty
- Something is up with the China Mobile settings / network and she needs to call them.
What would be your diagnosis, ideas, solutions XDA'ers?
Further information of any kind is, of course, available on request.
**** My ideas for a fix ****
Root the bastard and get a standard UK ROM on the phone to see if it works. However, I have some concerns. Years ago, when I bought my first HTC desire, when I rooted and put a UK ROM on it, I discovered that my phone was an imported Thai version of the phone and almost bricked it into a reboot loop as the phone didn't like a different regions ROM being loaded on.
I had to go through a convoluted process of making a specially edited SD-card to fool the phone into accepting different ROMS. Is this the case with the Galaxy SIII or have times moved on to more sophisticated means?
Thanks.
GJO
Have you try other messaging apps like Hancent SMS or Go SMS to confirm that msg service is not working?
Or maybe the CSC is causing the problem?

Open the stock messaging app. In its menu go to settings. Check that there is a number recorded under message centre. If not use Google to find the number for the carrier you are with and enter it.
I'm on an unrooted phone with a stock Rom and twice messaging has stopped working. The cause was that this number had spontaneously disappeared.

Ok, I've tried:
- alternative messaging apps, and they're not picking it up either.
- the message centre number.
When you say CSC? You mean the carrier code? It was bought in China and fitted with a Chinese ROM, but I'll look at the ROM settings and see what it is.
Thanks.
U dial *#1234# then you can see your csc
CSC – (Consumer Software Customization) Refers to the specific country or carriers for that said firmware is being build.
This where it contains the default settings of each specific geographical region, carrier network providers and network data connections.

I am having this problem. It was all working fine then suddenly it stopped. I don't know what could be the cause but I fooled around with the settings, deleted old text messages and then suddenly I received dozens of text messages.
It's like my phone isn't trying to receive any text messages. It can send text messages out but it won't receive any.
I am using Omega 31.1.
Can someone help me out please?

I had the same issue,
I changed the Network options from gsm only to "Auto" mode, and apparently it worked for me.
Struggling with a recent problem.
Using omega 43.3... I've no idea if that is the problem or not, but can't remember it happening before that (was omega 30ish before)
When I receive an SMS (using Handcent as default), the notification shows and if I click on it, it takes me to the Handcent threaded screen. However, if I then close that and it opens the default window (with all the contacts sms listed) it isn't there. If I then close Handcent, and then reopen it, it is?!
The same thing is happening with Call Log... Missed calls etc aren't showing when I access them from the dropdown menu... unless I then close the Call Log app and then go back into it.
I've tried various kernels and modems, and also tried reinstalling handcent, wiping cache/dalvic, fixing permissions etc. Nothing seems to make a difference. Currently on stock modem and kernel

Sorted it. Installed Ultimarom.
call log, messages, viber... not showing new events
I had this problem on JB 4.3 stock samsung sm-n7505 and after zillion read pages about it and rebooting and removing battery and sim and after I deleted entire contact list (by mistake) it turned out that it was the most idiotic problem you can ever think of.
While was in the tight pocket phone unlocked somehow(using pattern) and simply unchecked box (which is deep in the menu) "use network provided time/date" and date was set to a date 5 days earlier. So, all logs and messages were actually in the phone(I could see them in notifications and could send messages and calls), only I did not see them because they were back in the list in the place of 5 days ago. I just checked the damn box and everything was normal again(except my contact list (( ) Crazy. Hope my small contribution will help somebody. Rock on!!!! :good:
Hi all!
now after thorough searches on the net for a couple days I could not find a solution for my problem or even who has something similar (maybe a thread exists but my searching skills are failing me )
now problem is as follows:
Any online messaging application on my phone will encounter a weird problem when sending messages, (KiK whatsApp etc). They all have a sending, delivered and read system next to the messages for me to see the state of my message. but suddenly my phone does not send messages at all and freezes at that point (for example, on kik i would send a message, and not even he "sending" icon is present, but rather 3 dots).
this problem is fixed by me force killing the app from the app manager, and upon re opening, hoping for the message to start sending.
after a few messages are finally sent, the problem would arise again, but also cutting away anything that is incoming. this problem has been present through 4 flashes, 2 restores that date back to before the problem arose, and 3 kernels, as well as about 3 radio flashes.
I am beginning to think it is a hardware problem (as i had just received it from repair a month back - motherboard and screen replacement) but i wanted to ask first.
thanks in advance for any help, and sorry for any mistakes as i am a little dizzy :0
