It's hard to say as they both have good Dev support, but if u r gonna stick with stock Google itself, then nexus4 will get official updates longer than s3 would get. Display is good on both but I would stick with s3 on that. But talking about customer services, LG is nowhere near Samsung. (in India especially)
Sent from the zombie world. No they aren't coming yet!

S3
Nexus 4 will have long term support and you can expect to get the latest android version first on your device. S3 might be a little late in getting these updates.
Feature wise, both of them are almost the same, though the S3 has better customer support in India. Moreover, the Nexus 4 has a fiber glass battery cover which some folks have complained about.

I would go for Nexus 4 if I was you. Mainly for the support from Google!

The pros of a device totally depend upon your needs, thus there is no ultimate answer to your question, as there is no ultimately best android phone.
So could you please provide us some information by telling us, what do you want to use your phone to? That would really help us to help you.
Contract or pre paid?
Needs :
As a reader [ forum, books, newspaper ]
As a surfer [ internet ]
As a businessman [ business apps ]
I"m getting a way to get a phone from America, so does it need what package it is or it is lock/unlock.

samsung galaxy S2 or Note
or wait for samsung galaxy S3 coming soon
For the design, my favorite is Xperia S
You're question is as hard as if you asked "What is the best PC on the market" ^^
I mean smartphones (and especially Android phones) evolve really fast!
In my opinion, you should choose a phone for its beauty, a phone with a design that you love and then look the hardware (a dual core at least) because hardware is easily exceeded whereas the design isn't And if you have a great looking phone, I think you will keep it longer than if you don't. Pay attention to the brand also, because some of companies have bad reputation with their updates like LG for example, and if you are not the kind of person who will install custom ROM, it could be annoying :/
So I would say: Xperia S (so beautiful O_O), Galaxy S2 (one of the best Android phone), Galaxy Note( its like the S2 but bigger and faster I think), the One X ans S seems to be pretty good. Or wait for the Galaxy S3 which will certainly be amazing!!!
You should try the phones that the members will give you
Sorry for my English :/
S3 soon
For your needs Samsung Galaxy Note would be best. But you could also get a tablet.

Jumping ship to the Nexus

Now that there is confirmed news about the LG Nexus [Source], are you guys considering moving from the SIII to the Nexus ??
Don't get me wrong, the SIII is an awesome piece of hardware, but the lack of documentation from the Samsung Exynos team is a well known issue. That, to me, is the most important reason anyone would wanna move to the Nexus.
But I want to hear more opinions as to the advantages as well as disadvantages of the Nexus vs. the SIII.
no...
gonna shift to S4 when it comes......
we have the latest hardware and don't need move on some xx company's xx crap.......

I don't actually think theirs anything wrong with LG, of course I'd choose Samsung over them any day of the week, but if Samsung were yet to come onto the smartphone market, and LG had already made an appearance, I wouldn't be hesitate to buy an LG, providing specs etc were all up to date and the phone isn't just a single core 800mhz A5 snapdragon lol not suggesting snapdragon are bad processors....I was referring to the old A5 architecture

I just wanted to say something similar - of course it will just be outsourced to some company in Asia and will not be very competitively priced (unless you have an internal deal or something) since Google does not want to alienate any manufacturer!
That being said the openness is an interesting advantage (after the problems that I had with my S3 - which I discovered it was a patched version instead of a real IMEI unlock as I thought when I bought it).
LG left a sour taste in my mouth a few years back so I don't think I'm jumping ship, plus the specs leaked so far aren't too impressive.
However that new HTC with the 5inch 1080 screen has me interested...

I don't know if you are paying attention to the development forum but they have clockwork tethered n on the device and they are actively working on an unlock n r very close.
Development is not everything !
NEVER buy a phone for what it 'might' do in the future. Buy it for what it can do now.
If custom roms are important to you, don't get this phone right now. Get an S3 or One X.
If a really good oem experience is OK for you, and root is good enough, then look no further! I think this is an awesome phone.
But until proven otherwise, assume that the bootloader will never be unlocked. It might be, but if that is critical to you, then you should be buying a phone that can do that today.
Each to their own.

Why buy those when the N4 is for sale as I type this note. You will not only get the custom ROM's but the quickest update to the latest releases of Andriod.

If only N4 had LTE, then I would jump right on that. In the meantime I'm looking forward to getting my OG, and keeping my fingers crossed for the devs to work their magic. Anyone else feel the same?

Sent from my LG-E970 using xda premium
This phone is an animal. And even now, the test units for the N4 have been updated with the build that will be on the shipped units and in benchmarks and real world testing it doesn't hold a candle to this phone. That of course poses a couple of questions like why is vanilla android not as fast or faster than the build on the optimus g if the hardware is so similar? And why buy the n4 for faster access to updates if those updates don't bring it up to the same performance level as the Optimus G?
Wireless charging is the only feature I wish we had and hey, I can live without that. So IMO this phone is superior and will be even more so if/when the developers here work there magic and get passes the locked bootloader. So I would suggest sticking around.

While I agree that LTE and expandable storage are important, if lack of sufficient progress towards boot loader unlock, in 5 days, would drive you to return the device, for one that will get customer ROMs, getting an S3 which from what I read is about to lose it's dev support due to Samsung policies (devs are tired of doing inefficient, cumbersome work arounds that shouldn't be necessary) isn't a good option, even if you got LTE everywhere you went and could expand storage to 2 TB. The One x has it's drawbacks too.
Even stock unrooted, this thing is a monster in terms of what I'm seeing it do. I may still trade it in for the One X+ at the end of this week, but if I don't I certainly can't find fault with it yet. If I can survive a Droid Bionic with utter lack of Dev support (for good reasons, obviously), the LG OG will be a snap!

I'm thinking about return the OG also, and possibly getting the One X+ (if it's battery life is decent) or the Nexus 4 (and giving up LTE, not sure though).

Also even a stock upgrade to jellybean will give us a large performance boost... I am happy enough with root for now, there is no phone that compares to this one.
Imo with just 8/16 gb storage options , no matter what power it houses n4 is pretty useless ! A couple of hd games and few songs Will fill it up and then how am i supposed to take advantage of those a15 quads !
Yeah, 64gb sd cards win

I really wish the HTC One X+ had 2GB of RAM, mainly because of the uncertainty of needing 2GB for the next version of Android OS.
Mine may be going back and I just got it today. Mine doesn't want to recognize the SIM

The other thing you aren't understanding is the Tegra 3 only supports single channel memory, so that one gig is much slower than our 2gb of dual channel memory.
I think he should send it back. Some else would appreciate this wondrous phone.

Need help deciding on a phone

Galaxy S4 is close to my ideal phone, but I refuse to back a monopolist, judge me.
HTC One has fantastic build quality, when you get one that doesn't have monumental flaws and have to return it multiple times.
LG Optimus G Pro has no roms and the bootloader is locked tight for now it seems.
The HTC Max looks really square shaped.
Sony unveils products tomorrow, but who knows when they will release.
Is there a high end motorola phone coming? Is the Optimus G2 set to release soon? I need input and I have nothing to go off of.
Looking at your list, i would suggest you go for htc one. It is way better than s4 and g2..
I have personally used s4 and one for quite some time now. The difference is clearly visible using some tools. Anyway, the decision is all yours good luck with your new purchase.

That's what I really want, but I spend a lot of time in the HTC One boards and there are some horror stories about bad build quality and not realizing it until after the 14 day period.
My friend has htc one. it is going great till now. Go for s4 or one. Lg isn't good when it comes to supporting their devices.

You know, everyone seems to care about device support but I don't. Not even a little. I keep my devices for 9-12 months. When I had an iPhone I would absolutely dread updates. They would mean that my phone would get slower and, although updated, I wouldn't have any access to the awesome new features.
I can always count on the CM Team

[Q] End of Galaxy user? Should i get Nexus 4?

I had iPhone 3G as my first phone, following by 4s then i switched to Galaxy s3 in April 2013. I've learned a lot, i've flashed many custom roms, kernel etc.
After seeing Samsung delaying updates and transporting regional lock along with kitkat update are the reason that i come to decision that i will sell my galaxy s3 for Nexus 4 (cant afford n5 yet).
I need your help guys
How good is the battery on nexus 4 compared to galaxy s3?
Idc about storage
This is a q&a thread, so it also belongs there. But to answer your question. Comparing stock of both devices, the s3 definitely wins. Samsung is good at creating a good battery life, even with touchwiz
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You endured once in a blue moon updates in iOS, but you can't in android, which there is an update almost every week?
Sent from my GT-I9300
S3 wins hands down. Tho I would recommend getting sony because don't delay the update
I disagree.
Bells and whistles like smart stay that doesn't even work properly after the jellybean update or a maybe slightly better camera (though I don't find much difference) doesn't outweight not having proper multitask. Also, neither touchwiz nor aosp have the nexus smoothness. Even my dad's former galaxy nexus feels slightly better than my s3.
If you can live with not having an sdcard or a removable battery, I'd say the n4 provides a better user experience (did try it for about a month). The only reason I'm not getting the n4 is because I'm waiting out the n5.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
This thread would be best off in the Nexus 4 section, most users who browse the S3 forums still have and use the S3.

This is a joke, right? S3 is in overall better then the nexus 4. S3 will get 4.4. Regional lock can be removed. Also SD-Card and removable battery is essential for a phone in my opinion. (Plus, the N4 is an Lg device ) So if you don't plan to go from S3 to N5, stick to the S3!
well i am curious how long samaung/other custom devs will continue support galaxy s3 in 2014
cuz S4 still havent recieved 4.3 and 4.4 is already rolling out for Sony flagship device soon, which means this is my last samsung device >.<
And isn't mali 400mp old tho?
i will buy N5 in April then

Duuuuude....4.4 has not even rolled out to Nexus devices. Hell, it hasn't even been announced. No way can it roll out for Sony devices any time soon.
Sorry i worded that incorrectly but i hope you see my point; Im disappointed with samsung updates. I should have went for n3 in the first place, i'd have saved £40 anyways.
How the hell are you disappointed with Samsung updates?!?! They are right behind Google when it comes to updates. LG and HTC suck at updates.

Except if your aiming to the n4 for its price. I seriously doubt the n5 will have the same price the n4 has. The n4 is, at this time, the best bang for the buck around. And I suspect it will continue to be for a good while.
