Hey everyone, until I learn how to actually mod things, I'm starting out with themes.
Here is something I made just really quick last night to help clean up that tacky red theme for the music app.
If you like it awesome, if you want something else, let me know, these are just fun projects I'm doing and the music.apk won't be the only one.
~To install you will need to use es file explorer or any other root browser.
~Copy the apk and paste it into the system/app folder (make sure u delete the other one first).
~Make sure to longpress on the app once its moved and go into properties/permissions and make sure every box is checked this way the system know to override install.
~Go into ur recovery and Wipe Dalvik/Cache and reboot.
~Once rebooted, the rom should re-optimize all apps including the music.apk.
(If you still don't see the music apk don't worry this happens to me as well and I think it'll happen this way until we get the RUU drop that has auto overried .apk permissions)
Try going back into the permissions in the app and make sure they are all checked off then reboot.
If that doesn't work make sure all permissions are checked then Wipe Dalvik/Cache again and it should work.
http://db.tt/py2SOiHv
*UPDATE* Looks like the widget isnt attaching at all to the system which means I perolly wont be able to get this going until the RUU is dropped with full permissions.

looks good i may need to add this to my rom

Yeah, it's a No Go for me at this point. Not sure if the ROM I'm on matters though but I'm on MeanRom ICS v6.5. I haven't made the leap to MeanBean just yet but I will today and I'll retry this mod.

I'm on MeanBean .6 and got it so work. At first it didn't show up, I think maybe because I didn't change permissions. After changing permissions, I rebooted and it showed up.
Are the people with the issues looking at the widget or within the app? Because the widget is not up to speed yet but would be done soon also....hope this helps

I never use widgets. I'm looking for the app to actually show up in my app draw and it never shows up for me no matter what I do in the setup process [setting permissions, delete dalvik/cache, reboot]. I'll keep trying though because now it's more of a pride thing...lol.

Updated opensignal maps just fine. I'm noticing that some of my apps show as not installed, but when I click on them it just says open, the left option of download isn't there. I have seen that in the last version, and it has persisted to this one. Market fix with TB doesn't help.

Quick question, just to double check in my /system/app the market is labled "Android_Market_v3.1.6.apk" do I rename this file "Android_Market_v3.2.0.apk" then replace the v3.1.6? I can't find a "Vending.apk". Sorry for the noob question as I am still learning Android. Thanks for the help.

No luck. The APK Handler said the installation failed.
Yeah, it won't install like a normal apk. It's a system app. It needs to be moved to /system/app, and then set permissions to rw-r-r then go into recovery, wipe caches and reboot.
Before pasting it there, I would rename the existing rosie to Rosie.apk.bak in case you get into trouble and need to revert. Also, I would suggest having another launcher installed (like Nova, Apex, or whatever you like), again, in case things go wrong.
And always nand first.

Did you mount your file system as r/w before trying to move? Root explorer is a fantastic app for such operations.
Sent from my MeanROMed LTEVO using IcedOut XDA
If you dont know the correct permission the apk needs to be,just look at your system apps in you phone using root explorer and match it up.
what you are going to have to do is copy the apk to the sdcard then go into root explorer and longpress that Rosie.apk. it will give you the options there to move it or copy it, do either but do not change the permissions in the sdcard. move it to system/app then change them in there so the change sticks. also in order to change permission or copy a sys/app in there you need to hit the little button that says r/o up top to change it to reade/write.
reboot and profit!
cheers

Here are some apks that change the icons on your home screen and your app drawer.
Thanks to Pfaffinator for the icons.
1 go to system/ app and copy your entire app file then place it on an sd card for backup if you want to revert back to your original icons.
2 copy these new apks to system/ app. Your phone will ask if you want to replace your old apk with the new one...tap yes then profit.
3 I do not know how to make a zip file yet as I am still learning.
4 I will add more as I theme more icons.

If you flash super Jelly, use the super Jelly updater to download a blank zip. You then use an archive manager like 7zip or winrar to place the apk's in the system/app folder. I think it has to be signed for JB, not sure how to do that tho.
Thanks for sharing tho. If these are someone else's work can you give them credit? If this is your work, nice job!

1. You use this at your own risk, if you mess up your phone its your own fault, I'm not responsible for it
2. Make a backup copy of the AccuweatherPhone2013.apk some where on your phone
2. If you are not on at&t, do not try these without a custom recovery (twrp or cwm). Minor differences in these system files can easily cause a boot loop, which in the absence of a recovery can be a soft brick!
3. Copy the AccuweatherPhone2013.apk to /system/app set permissions reboot

I thought it was quiet. I used root explorer on the phone to make the changes. Here's the process I did:
1. Downloaded your file to my PC
2. Extracted the .apk
3. Removed the existing Accuweather widget from my home screen
4. Cleared Accuweather cache
5. Used Root Explorer to copy existing apk to another location (copy, not move)
6. Renamed existing apk to .bak via Root Explorer
7. Copied your apk to the "Download" folder on the phone from my PC
8. Used Root Explorer to drop your apk into the System/Apps directory
9. Rebooted
10. Added widget - worked and looks great
11. Scrolled to the next screen to the right of my home screen
12. Saw my two alarms and Google Song ID widgets missing
13. Added them back
14. Tested all widgets and all are working
So, I don't know if I did something wrong in the process, but that was the exact flow of what I did. Either way, again, thanks. I had been using the 50% Accuweather on my S2 forever. I really like that look and you delivered it on my S4. Adding back a few widgets doesn't bother me at all.
Can anyone re-up this for me?
