Hi guys
in sony tablet s 4.0.3r5 the new walkman app I can access my Logitech SquezeBox Server (UPNP/DLNA). That worked fine for the first time. Now, it has some issues. The thing is the Squeeze server provides "artists", "ablums" and "genres" virtual folders. If I click on some artist there, the walkman app shows "No media contained". However, if I go to the "folder" view (which just shows the folders as on the server) -> this works and plays media.
I've rebooted the media server, the tablet, cleared the cache/data of the walkman, but without any effect. Strange that it worked fine the first time I've tried it.

Hello! I have a twonky server at home. When I open the sony dlna app on the tablet my server is listed and I can Browse all the content of the media server. The problem is when I try to see photos (jpg format) they are all marked with a yellow triangle with an exclamation inside, and when I click on the photo I receive a message saying "this device can't play this content". So the only media I can play are my collection of mp3 that plays without problems.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
I'm gonna answer myself in case of someone has the same issue. I think the sony dlna app has some kind of resolution/Mb limit. Most of my photos have a resolution about 5 to 12 Megapixels that can't be viewed, but some photos with a low resolution are displayed without problems.
Same here!
Also have the same problem. It seems that any pic above 1 Mb or so will not be shown. I don't always have the yellow triangle, I just have a black screen with some grey icon.
Also tried almost all other dlna apps from the market but then my problem is that no single app will recognize my Iomega NAS
Anyone any ideas?
any progress on this one? No DLNA apps in the market?
Well, I've been trying Eminent DLNA and HomeDia. Although I didn't had much time to play with them, apparently both do their job, the choice is a matter of personal taste.

Skifta works for everything and is free but a bit slow during first start up . BubbleUpnp works for videos and music but its free version is limited. For all video formats support install mx video player and the tegra codecs of it.

You can try ArkMC application https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arkudadigital.arkmc.gm, it works with pictuers as well. To check it - try Free Version at first.
Pixel Media has both client and server DLNA apps. Both are free. Work like a charm.
Hi Guys,
since yesterday my Xperia S (FW .73) is no longer listing any music (stored at /mnt/sdcard/Music...)
I tried several things to fix this:
- reboot several times
- rename music foder
- copy music from /Album sub folder into /Music folder
- rescan via "rescan media" app
- testing with third party music player apps like standard android music player or Meridian
...but without success!
Music player still says that there is no music available on my device.
But I do have about 9 GB!
The only may important thing I did yesterday was to change the micro SIM card.
Bit this works without any trouble.
So do you guys have any idea?
Should i reinstall generic .73 FW?
If you go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All find the Media Storage App, clear Data, restart the phone and leave it ~5 minutes it should force it to rescan everything.
Hey sixdaysandy, thanks for you advice.
Unfortunately it has no impact!
I've done it several times and cleared almost every Music Media data I found. But after I made a reboot my device still thinks I do not have any music...
Therefore i am flashing the LT26i_6.0.A.3.73_SG_Generic.ftf FW without Wiping User Data right now!
And i really hope that this will fix the bug!
Edit:
Finally i was able to reproduce this strange behaviour.
I deleted every music and put it right back into the music folder. And there it was!
But it seems that every time i reboot - the device isn't any longer listing my music and it's gone again...
so there must be something wrong with the music library or the music player itself. Or maybe another app is going to kill the library?!
Does anyone know of a good player that will access my readynas running firefly server. i want an app that will show album art and either scroll or iconify the albums so i can leave prime set up on a stand to use as a jukebox during parties.
cheers
Not sure if this has everything you are looking for but to connect to my DLNA server for music I use BubbleUPnP. I like the look of the program and how you can choose which Library to read from, but you can also choose which Renderer to play to (or use local for either one).

Have you tried the native My Net app that's already on the Prime?

Did u try MyNet? It crashes all the time it is basically unusable. BubblePnp is a lot better.
tried both, not sure if i am using bubble right.
what i am after is an app that will show my album art in a grid or coverflow kinda way like itunes. something like a touchscreen jukebox you get in pubs. i want it easy for other people to just choose music without ever seeing a tablet before.
this might not be possible and the app might not exist.
the stock google music ap is ok in grid form.
ideally i would like a itunes clone with dj function that accesses my readynas
Looks like a while back, a guy created a firefly media server plugin for Plex that looks promising:
http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/7588-testers-needed-do-you-use-firefly-media-server/
http://wiki.plexapp.com/index.php/Firefly_Media_Server_(mt-daapd)
Plex is pretty cool, btw, it allows remote as well as within-LAN access to your media. Stream your music wherever you have iternet, on all your platforms (laptop, Prime, Ipad, phone, etc.)
Hi,
I have some issues with the GMusic app. It won't sync the id3-tags and playlists I create/change on the desktop version...
E.g., I recently edited the genres of some albums, and it applied just fine on the pc, but it won't carry over to my nexus 4.
Same goes for playlists, especially the "like" list. I liked a bunch of songs on my cellphone, but they don't show up in my browser (and the other way round, too)
I deleted the app data, reinstalled GMusic, rebooted the phone, wiped the cache, refreshed music manually and installed the origonal from the play store (I had a transparent widget mod version so far), all that didn't help.
Does anyone have an idea?
I'm trying to view photos stored on my PC with my newly acquired 16GB Tablet Z.
I already have a PS3 Media Server installed for using music & photo files on the TV via the PS3.
The tablet has connected to the PC with WiFi ok & the PS3 Media Server is showing in the My Albums option in the 'Album'
app. When I explore the folders - there are up to 5 levels for photos - the tablet only shows up to 16 sub folders and within those only a max of 16 photos.
I thought maybe it's a memory issue but it can take up to 30 seconds to load the 16 photos (say 70MB) so it is clearly accessing the pc storage.
How can I get to view all the folders & their contents on the Tablet??
I spent 20 minutes with the Sony support team & they had no solution.... hmmm, not impressed.
I hope you guys can do better!
Thanks,
Phil.
Hmmm - OK, surely I'm not the only one trying to view photo files held on my PC with the tablet, am I??
I thought I'd try a different route.
I'm now trying to set up Windows Media Player as the server, all looks ok but the only photo file it can pick up has a sort of 'mountain' icon rather than a photo. Really weird as everything appears to be set up ok.
Any ideas out there??
thanks,
Phil.
Now all sorted!!
The answer is... install 'Serviio' software on the PC which is a decent server app in contrast to Windows Media Player and install 'BubbleUpnP' software on the tablet.
From their website....
BubbleUPnP is a full featured UPnP/DLNA Control Point, UPnP Media Renderer and UPnP Media Server. Play easily your music, videos and images on your phone and devices on your network (DLNA TVs, XBMC, WMP, ...), from your external UPnP Media Servers. Play your phone/tablet media to those devices.
Browse and play your local phone/tablet and cloud media from other devices (PS3, ...).
It is brilliant. Now everything works a treat.
By the by... Sony Customer Service were no help whatsoever!
