SIM card error solved - HTC One X+

So I see some people asking why does my phone say no SIM? Or threads about it.....
Well I spent sometime with one of my friends that work at Att as a tech figuring out what's going on. I'm rooted he's not and we were both having the same problem. While it is due to the size of the SIM card or SIM tray. If you hold the power button lightly ( not pressing down, just enough not to shake) you'll hear the SIM card shaking inside. Now by the time you do this your phone is going to say no SIM detected. It is indeed the SIM size or tray. Here is what we did to resolve it.
Scotch tape
A razor blade
Steady hands lol
Rip a piece of tape
Lay it down sticky side up
Place your SIM card (Att SIM logo facedown) on the sticky side
Cut around the edges where there is just very little tape showing. Do this around all the edges.
Once your done with that fold all the tape onto the edges of the SIM card.
Reinsert your SIM and reboot.
Once your 4g comes on try and shake the phone to see if it disconnects. If it does you may need another layer of tape or cut less tape off.

I used the SIM pin as an example.
Since I did this 2-3 days it hasn't happened. My friend reported this to his boss so hopefully this makes waves to corporate or HTC to reslove for us.

In need of a keypad+wheel

I have been checking some online-shops (inc. ebay) in the search of the keypad(plastic thingie, without circuits) with a wheel but with no luck - they are not sold separately from housing, nor many housings are sold without them.
Can anyone give me a clue if I can find that piece somewhere?
It seems there is a thin metalic layer. This one is very fragile: on my phone, this layer begins to peel off. Does anyone know how to change it?

that same **** happens to me, but no that serious, only the little "line" that its in the red and green icons. I guess that your using your fingernails, right?
Nope. But when cleaning my screen, I put a little bit of water on it, then rub it with a tissue. I think the tissue gets caught on the small holes and tear off the metallic layer... One of my colleague has the same problem.
Once it has begun, you cannot stop the layer unsticking.
Uh! need!!
Yes I me too..
please help... broken idem.-
Mine is even worse not even the metal layer has been scratched off but the keypad is also cracked in the middle and the scroll-wheel does not work
This keypad is really a crap. And the phone surface is not guaranteed by HTC (of course)!
I will receive an HD 2 in a few days. My operator could rebuy my Polaris for 18 € (for recycling it)
to wagner51
dude if you're gonna sell it that cheap, let me know. i'll give you an alright price for it with postage etc
same problem
I am facing the same problem: the metallic-coated front panel is scratchy, and just last week it was broken from the upper middle section. If anyone could give advice on how to fix/replace it, it would be most appreciated.

[Q] Vibrant piledrived by 3 different cars

Events prior to cracking my screen:
► Happy hour at Yardhouse bar
► 7 consecutive games of beer pong
After getting out of the car following my fastfood drivethu order to smoke and a few minutes had passed, I discovered my phone along with its Body Glove backside laying facedown in the drive-thru.
Damage as follows:

Phone still functions, adb pulled the files off the internal sd. At first a small area of pixels in the bottom right had bled blueish white light, but after a little while the screen died. The 4 touch buttons and their backlights are functional.
Seeing as the price of replacement parts exceeds the contract-value of the phone, what would be the cheapest alternative to repairing the screen?
Craigslist a cheap Vibrant salvage donor?
i'd like to give it to my father's as a gift if it' not going to violate my pockets.
If ttoo much of it is broken, consider selling the parts that DO work

Sorry to hear about the phone =/
I bought a vibrant for my sis yesterday off Craigslist for 130 newish, if it helps. I think a new glass'll be like 16 off ebay and a new LCD just as much. It's a pain to do it though, I'm sure.

SD Card slot not staying shut

Hi all,
i Just got my 5.0 player today. Once i opened the sd card slot, the plastic flap does not stay flush with the housing when i close it. Does anyone else have this problem? Is this normal or should i exchange it?
Is there any chance you did not put the SD card in properly?

It's pushed in all the way. It doesn't stay flush even with the sd card removed. Here is a picture of how it fits. If i push it down with my finger it goes flush, and then pops back out. It's like there is nothing holding it in. Is there supposed to be a tab or something to make it stay in place?

Dangit, i was messing with the really small clear plastic tab and now it won't stay shut at all...
Guess it's going back to amazon.

Ya, good choice. mine has a little hump near the top right corner for some reason. but nothing like that. That would annoy the crap out of me. Get an exchange, this device will not disappoint.

[Q] [HW] Help - broken power button - Need ideas

During a recent screen swap I lost the metal convex power button cap and amber tape holding it down.

Whats a crafty way of making my own button? I've tried extra foam inserts around the edge and double sided taping aluminum foil to the back of the fingerprint reader button part, but I can't seem to get it working reliably.
Someone's got to have a better idea!
Thank you!

Looking at that brings back a lot of memories of the old Atari 2600 joysticks. Anyway, finding a reliable fix for that may not be easy given the scale. I would look around for something to cannibalize or try and sweep the area you were working with a strong magnet.

finally got that stuck simtray piece out.

for those wondering how, you need:
(NOTE: BE CAUTIOUS WHEN DOING THIS. YOU MIGHT END UP BREAKING THE SIM READER IF DONE INCORRECTLY)
- super glue
- a card or anything thats as thin and hard(er) as a sim card
- scissors
cut the card at 1.5cm like the image
practice getting it in and out of the phone as perfectly as possible.
drop a little super glue somewhere (preferably on the excess of the card that you cut)
then on the 1.5cm card you cut, just dab the end of it onto the droplet of glue. just get a little bit because it might smear inside the sim reader. i only put glue on the right edge of the top where the peice will get glued on.
if you feel you're touching the piece with the card, wait about a minute or more then pull it out gently.
and done. buy a new sim tray. i used my v30 as a monitor screen. opened the camera, set to manual, set to 4k, turn on flash, zoom in and i could see the inside of the sim reader.

Thanks. I had a broken off sim trey that's been stuck for months. Tried everything, but couldn't get it out. Was tempted to send the phone to LG under warranty (a few other people had it covered under warranty), but I didn't want to be without my phone for 2 to 3 weeks. This method worked. The key is to use an old sim card (the big card you get get before you punch out the sim). It's same thickness as the sim card.
