Basically i went to flash a Rom in my phone, one of the requirements for the Rom was to format system. Not looking I, formatted SD card instead. Erasing my backup i had just made, and whipping the Rom that I was about to flash. So, what I need help with is seeing if anyone know a way to flash a Rom to my phone while in recovery, or is there a way to mount my SD Card memory while in Fastboot or recovery? I'm just looking to be able to flash any Rom in my phone to at least get it able to be used again.

twrp, i did have clockwork recovery at first but adb flashed twrp hopping they had a mount sd function
Okay, boot into twrp, then hit mount, then hit mount USB storage. Plug it into your PC and re-copy your rom of choice.

When i click mount, it only comes up with the option to mount system, mount data, and mount cache. Is there a newer version of twrp? The version i have is called Team Win Recovery Project v2.3.2.0
There should be a little box you can check towards the bottom of the screen

Hello,
I use Rom manager and iI installed CWM Touch.
Everything is fine until i try to mount my USB.
i get: "unable to open ims lunfile" and so I CANNOT MOUNT THE USB. what can be done?
The steps were:
adb reboot recovery
factory reset
clear dalvik cache
mount usb
Then the error appears.
I can still use the CWM Touch but if i cannot mount my usb... It's not good for me.
Does anyone have this problem?

Flash 4ext recovery instead of clockworkmod. Go to play store and search 4ext, or google.
Touch version cwm isn't fully supported from what I understand. 4 ext recovery touch to save the day.

but the principles are the same? i'm used to CWM recovery tools (old versions) and i thought the "touch" one was good for me. i was wrong.
at least it was just USD2.
i do not need touch recovery. i will flash the old CWM back. if i can find it. or if i can do it... i'm not a big android specialist.
Only the cwm from revolutionary 4.0.1.4 supports charging while off.
It's as easy as downloading an app from the store, or internet, then select your phone type, let it do its magic.
4ext recovery is just like cwm, except less errors on installing some roms, beautiful all touch recovery. Setup with the same menu type items, and fully supports charging the phone while its off.
You won't miss mashing the volume rockers to select things in recovery, I promise, lol.
tommorow i will visit my bank and add some cash to my account (my card) in order to pay for 4EXT.
will give it a try. meanwhile... i lost 2 dollars by buying the CWM touch.

The 4ext recovery control app is like the pro edition of Rom manager. It's an app that automates what you do in recovery while running your phone normal.
The actual 4ext recovery is FREE. Linked here. http://www.4ext.net/get.php?apk
well... i found some cash on my bank accounts and purchased 4EXT Recovery Control.
then... if i click recovery i must install 4ext recovery. if i click ok i get to a server i download a ZIP file.
how can i install the zip file?
what will it happen with my current CWM?
i knew i had to stick with my CWM.
i'm so sad...

You can only have one recovery on your phone, TWRP, CWM, or 4Ext.
So either flash the zip file in cwm recovery, or if you have adb, extract the recovery.img from the zip and flash with fastboot.
I clicked some clicks... And now if i boot into recovery it starts with 4ext touch.

Just read what it says if your s-on or s off, regarding smartflash. Turn it off if your s off, on if you're s on. Can be found in the settings under recovery, or from your 4ext recovery control app you bought.
Only recommendation I can make is converting the system/data and other partition to ext4 format. All old cwm backups should restore, just to be safe, make a backup in your new recovery.
There are themes for the recovery too, check out the control app.
And how can i format my sd card to ext4. How can i find what format is it now?

In recovery, go under tools. Then you can format and check partition alignment for internal system/data to, from ext3 --ext4.
If your referring to partitioning sd card with an ext4 partition for a2sd. Tools, partition sd card. It will ask you for swap and other options like cwm.
Keep in mind it might erase the sd card contents, even though it has an option to not erase, better safe then sorry.
i have nothing interesting on my sd card
so i will format it. a few weeks / months ago i formatted my sd-card using CWM in order to create a extended... something.
sd-ext?
the card was 8gb and now is 6gb. how can i recover my 2gb?

Panasonic sd formatter worked for me
Windows program
Sd ext might need some custom configuring on roms, I do not use it anymore.
Google search of adding sd ext partition or a2sd to roms might help

plug it into a pc and see if your internal sd card needs to be formatted. either in 4ext usb mode or while the rom is running.
It's because he flashed a stock ruu and tried jumping to a custom rom without allowing it to boot for the first time, sso reflash the stock ruu and allow it to boot at least once.

Hey guys new to rooting and roms, i flashed a rom decided i didn't like it i proceeded to wipe everything. and i mistakenly did a FULL WIPE of the entire phone only thing left standing is TWRP, all my backups are gone no other rom i can flash either. i know its not completely bricked since i still have access to TWRP. I would mount the sd car but it doesn't recognize the the phone and it wants me to format it. im out of ideas, can anyone help me out of this mini crisis of mine?
Can you access your usb mount through TWRP? If so, you can dl Rom from computer to internal memory and flash that way. Hope I said that right

Sounds like you may have to reformat. Mount internal through twrp, reformat and transfer a Rom to flash. If the Rom doesn't have a kernel installer like meanrom, fastboot flash the kernel

You might want to set TWRP to save your backups to the ext sdcard. Default is internal

Hello guys, this is my first post here so don't be tough with me
First of all some info:
Model:Galaxy SIII GT-I9300
ROM: Android Revolution HD 15.2
Kernel: Perseus 26.1
CWM: 6.0.1.2
I recently updated normally into ARHD 15.2 and everything was normal. But after I booted up into recovery mode I noticed that those lines were on the screen:
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I searched and read many threads in order to find the best and the most suitable solution but I couldn't find anything helpful. The main problem in almost every thread was that the phone had a bootloop.Fortunately, I don't have that problem. My phone boots normally.I also tried to wipe cache partition and dalvik cache in order to find any more errors but nothing appeared and my phone booted normally updating android apps.I found the thread below but I don't know if I have to do all this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10878511&postcount=8311
So any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried flashing cwm yourself with Odin? I know it probably comes with your ROM, but try flashing the latest cwm (same version you have, i'm sure) with odin
Let me know if that does anything.
Thanks for the reply mate
Last night I unmounted and mounted ext sd card again from inside the phone..Then I booted into recovery and everything was back to normal.I dont know what caused the problem though.

Lol that's weird.. Well at least your phone works now! What kind of micro sd u have? If it's the 64gb exfat, I know Cwm doesn't respond to that at all
I am using the same rom and had the same problem . It happened to me after i deleted the recovery log file on the external sd card

Hi
I'm facing the same issue: Can't open /cache/recovery...
I already tried flashing CWM Recovery(lastest version) using Heimdall(1.3.1, 1.3.2 and 1.4RC1) and didn't work.
When using the CMW that I aready have installed, if I try to install a CM10.1 it show me up as installed, but when booting I got the previous ROM screen and freeze screen of death.
Ideas?
On the cache problem, try the solution that worked for the OP, unmount the SD card and boot again.
On the ROM issue do a full wipe and flash a stock ROM via ODIN to get you back to a good starting point.
As with every situation, backup your efs partition first.
iv been having a really bad expierence with twrp. it wont boot my sdcard so i can copy files and when i select that it format data it wiped my entire storage any ideas

adb push C:\path\to\rom.zip /sdcard/rom.zip
should work
