JB update...Screen touch response issue! - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So since I updated my phone to the OTA Jelly Bean, my screen has been less responsive to touch. I use to be able to use the phone with gloves on, now it won't let me... Is there a way yo adjust sensitivity for it cause ics was perfect. Any ideas?

Touchscreen sensitivity app

I had a galaxy's, and recently I bought a Atrix.
I noticed that Atrix has a touch screen less sensitive than galaxy.
I've downloaded from the market "sgs touchscreen booster", this is an app to manage the touchscreen galaxy.
I tried it on 'Atrix and it works fine for me.
Now I am satisfied with the touchscreen.
If anyone has the same problem, I advise him to try.
Sorry for my bad English
I can not tell if it is even working.
psychological solution
It work very well for me.

I had noticed that coming from Captivate, the touch screen felt... different. Just installed. Hopefully this helps. Thanks!
you are awesome!
I had the touchscreen bug where my screen would go unresponsive, was going to bring it in today (concerned about my device having the france rom on it.) and this app got it working again perfectly!
will be sure to buy you a beer on payday if this holds up.
just installed.. seems to be much more responsive to me.. have it set to "optimized". will try them all out..thx!

Same. I still, along with (I think) everyone, have the issue with multi-touch when you hold fingers down for a certain number of seconds and the screen equalizes it, forcing you to wait a few seconds and try it again. This really annoys me on games like Jet Car Stunts, when, for example, I hold the accelerate button but eventually I have to let go and press it again to keep the car accelerating.
yeah that apparently is a feature and done by design from what I read. the problem i had was worse in the sent that imagine the screen going nuts after 5 seconds of activity.
Is there any way to increase the multitouch number. This app says it can but it doesn't work I know this is for the galaxy but is there any other way?

Seems.to work like a charm

I was getting so annoyed of this phone because when i tried to typed i couldnt type one work without making a huge mistake because the screen wasnt picking up everything i guess. if i typed hey fast it would just type "hy" or something. but when i did this and put the sensitivity up to 80% and left the rest on default it fixed it. now i can type fast without any mistakes and it seems as it fixed multitouch problems as well! This app is definitely recommended.
I've always thought the Atrix screen could do with a higher sensitivity, after using the iphone. It might be all in the mind, but this app does seem to help. It is particularly noticeable when typing, I no longer have any missed letters where I haven't pressed hard enough.
Thanks for sharing this app

[Q]How to increase/ decrease screen sensitivity

Does anyone know how to do this? I can't type very fast due to the fact I have to hit letters twice.
Ics stock amaze nothing unlocked

I have the same problem!! Especially when I lost my HTC trace keyboard flashing the ics leak. So I have to use gingerbread keyboard. Damn keys are so small though!!

Unresponsive capacive keys

Has anyone else been experiencing weak or unresponsive home and back keys. My home key does not always work. Just trying to see if mine is faulty or others experience this issue.

I have the same issue and it has been pissing me off. I have read the OTA has fixed this issue for some. I am still waiting for my OTA to come through.
Screen off/screen on seems to kick it back into gear most of the time for me.
I had the same problem. Unlocked bootloader and put TrickDroid on, and this problem is gone. Not that it should be the solution, but it seems the move to the international update fixed that problem.
I also had the problem on stock AT&T ROM. Flashed ARHD and the problem is gone

I had the problem after i installed a screen protector. I cut around the buttons and now the problem it's gone.

Doubt it. Sounds completely independent of software.

I flashed international Rom and it's alot better I have two ones that I use and there's s big difference between stock att and international imo
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Stock ATT rom here and there are times I have to hit the home button a few times. Gonna unlock bootloader tonight and see about installing a rom.
Mine definitely require very accurate taps. I am getting used to it, but I am hoping a software update will improve the responsiveness.

Seems to be the case more with our (ATT) software. Flashing the international or one of the international ROMs seems to make it much more responsive. Hopefully our phones will get the update soon!
I loaded an international Rom and I still occasionally get buttons that don't work and I have to lock and unlock the screen.

Some say it's the screen protectors some say it's not. I did notice before I out one on it wasn't so bad. But once I out it in was constantly smashing the buttons and where the are so flipping close to the screen I would open unwanted apps. Anyway I too a straight edge and an exacto knife and cut the protector off right where the screen ends and the black capacitive area begins. Did it last night and haven't had to press anything more than once. Just a thought from a guy

Compared to my One X, neither of the buttons are precise at all, even without a screen protector on the AT&T Rom.

I agree. A screen protector shouldn't make a difference. Never did with ny One X either.

Even when I didn't have the screen protector installed it was also very finicky. It seems like you have to press down exactly on the buttons for them to register the action. Even then, one of the buttons will sometimes wig out on me while the other one will continue working. It seems like the problem resolves itself within fifteen seconds most of the time, but its annoying nonetheless.
What's funny is that I thought it was a software problem at first, but even after switching over to the newest CM nightlies it still happens every now and then.
Yea but basing that in cm10 is irrelevant
Because so much is patched and ported but agreed this thing sucks sometimes

Home and back capacitive button sensitivity is bad ..anyone else notice this ?

As nice as of a device as it is the home and back button lack the touch sensitivity needed to function correctly, with the correct amount if sensitivity i'm sure most of us are used to.
I seen there was a update with the sprint variant that fixed it.
It's like when u touch them it takes 10 times to get them to respond almost acting like a phone that's 5 years old and glitchy...
Is this a known issue or an issue being looked into ?

common issue, but its funny as I didn't notice this until I started to see threads about this. If you have a screen protector, it will make it worse, its so bad, it happens to me everytime I use it and I don't hink T-Mobile will ever update it

Screen sensor bug

Has anyone experienced issues with the screen sensor not responding well while on a call?
Sometimes if you lock the screen while on a call and you try to unlock it the screen with shut off as soon as you touch it and will remain on that behavior until the call is ended, therefore not letting you unlock the phone or perform any other activities on the phone.
Anyone?

Yes! It happens to me rather frequently. Thanks for starting this post. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

It's funny because this is the 2nd HTC phone that I can report with this bug. I had the Evo 4G LTE before this one and it suffered the same issue even after all official updates.
The only solution with that phone was to flash a custom ROM which was good, but up to now I'm still on the fence about rooting this one; stock on this phone is stable and bloatware is minimal, I haven't justified taking the plunge yet.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
I'm with you there. I did root mine... but only for data restore purposes. It may sound crazy.. but I don't want SwiftKey to start over with learning my typing habits. Other than that, like you, this phone and my Nexus 4 are the only two phones that I have had no desire to install a custom ROM. Fingers crossed that there is a solution other than that.

Yes, happened with me quite a few times. Once a call is initiated (phone speaker on or off) and the screen goes black (due to proximity sensor), no amount of tinkering will bring it back until you press the power button which kills the call. It is damn annoying and am hoping there is a fix.
The phone is on 1.29 M7 TMobile ROM, rooted with S-OFF
I had that problem too on LG L7. Tried with various roms and nothing. But I fixed somehow with the app called "proximity actions". It lets you command your phone with hand suggestion via proximity sensor. I only installed it to check the hardware, wether the sensor works. I have no idea what happened, but it started to work again. The app somehow toggled the sensor and brought it back to life.

Not sure if all ROMs have the option but you can go in to the accessibility options and turn off power button ends call.

I've noticed this issue has significantly increased amongst other things like freezing since I unlocked my bootloader. :what:

Never once has this happened to me. Bone stock.
Guess that's another reason I don't trust "IMAROM CHEFS!" ROMs that are "cooked up" on some random internet user's computer.
Stock is fine these days, IMO. Outgrew the glitchy nature of kitchen ROMs and such.

Been using ROMs for years and I've hand,y ups and downs, I can't say I've had a horrible experience with any ROM I've used on any of my past phones. Now I do agree with you about the stability of stock ROMs these days and also the better specs of the phone. For instance I haven't rooted nor unlocked my phone because I personally feel that the delivered product is good and haven't felt the necessity to tinker with it. The issue described is with stock, not custom ROM.
With that said or you haven't had the scenario for it to happen or your just the lucky one....
