[Q] Titanium Backup requests USB debugging - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I would have posted this to the Android Development forums but was unable to due to only having 6 prior posts.
Rooted my Note 2 this evening with Revision2 stock root image and all seems to be working well with the exception of Titanium Backup popping up and informing me that USB Debugging needs to be enabled in DEV options. I have it enabled and still get this warning. Anyone else see this happen and know of a solution?
best regards,
Bob

Unfortunately I have no solution for you except to double check that Developer Settings is enabled and USB Debugging is checked.
I will confirm that I am not having this problem. TiBu loads up and doesn't give me this error message although it used to before I started rooting etc my phone. Haven't seen it since I got setup on Jelly 'Beans' ROM.

I have also had no issue like this with Titanium Backup. The only advice I could give is, like stated above, check the developer options and maybe try to turn it off and back on and maybe try and uninstall/reinstall Titanium Backup.

Thanks guys, I had made sure that USB debugging was enabled and rebooted the phone. Titanium Backup was still complaining. I turned off the phone and powered it back on and the problem is gone now. Imagine that!
Best regards,
Bob

And for future reference if you would have posted this on the dev section it would have been moved here. The only thing that belongs in the development sections custom development not app based questions.

You actually don't even need USB Debugging turned on. You can disable the warning in Titanium Backup's GUI preferences.

Working Titanium Backup - CM9 A.0

Let's be real, this deserves its own thread. Many people live by the sword of Titanium Backup and it's currently broken in the first Alpha of CM9 for the Touchpad. I've searched through about 9 threads and several info files and have yet to resolve this issue.
So far there seems to be a Superuser issue that doesn't seem to effect Titanium Backup Version 4.0.2, which you can get HERE. That said, restoring files continues to fail. Has anyone had success with this? If we can get a fix I'll update this post to help others.
i agree it deserves a thread...but why in development section? why not in General or Q and A section?
I would suggest just using important apps only until this is fixed. Way too alpha of a build to load up a ton of apps.

Because I'm stupid and didn't pay attention. A mod should move this.

My biggest attempt was to check compatibility and display of apps I use regularly. I'm not concerned with stability at this point, I just wanted to load a ton of data and apps and see what sticks.
I just flashed CM9 over CM7 - everything worked fine and all my apps are still there
I don't see why they don't just use My back up root until titanium is fixed. It put all my apps and data back perfect.

I just flashed cm alpha0 and ran into this problem. Will try the 4.0.2 and restore some of my apps just to try everything. Looking forward to New versions with fixed titanium.
Will try my Backup root. First have to migrate Backups from phone
You know if you use ACMEinstaller2 there's no need to wipe anything. I was able to keep my apps/data/settings and I'm yet to run into any issues. This was mentioned in Dalingrin's OP on RootzWiki.

And Titanium Backup still works for you? Didn't for me.
Freezing apps does not work, and restoring apps only works if you set the app proccessing mode to INTERACTIVE.
I remember a similar issue on CM7 for the Epic 4g.

My point is you won't lose any of your apks + data. The only reason I use TB is make batch backups of my apps (which I did prior to flashing CM9), since i didn't have to wipe, not being able to restore is not an issue for me.
As worthless as this thread is becoming, it does appear that the newest version of Titanium Backup (4.7.4) does seem to be working after removing and updating superuser. Well, once at least. Functionality is back to broken again it seems.

It seems like this is the logical answer for now. I've always wondered why more people don't use My Back Up Root instead of TB anyway.

If you first install the app from market, you can install the data from titanium. That worked for me. The only hassle is that you have to do it one by one.
Edit: I'm running the pro version 3.8.7. There's a link for it here somewhere.
thanks! i needed TB to run whatsapp on CM9
4.5.2.2 is working for me. dont know if itll work for everyone though.

What bloatware apps are ok to disable without messing with system operations?

As the title says, I want to disable as much of the bloatware as possible with out harming any system functions.

Does this list assume you've rooted and flashed a different rom? I don't think touchwiz home is safe to disable if you're stock.

Its a list ( more than one on that post ) of apps that can be removed .
Stock and non rooted it does not apply apart from you could use it as a guide to some of the apps .
No root = No XDA .

Did you literally just imply that if you don't root you shouldn't be using xda? I see no disclaimer anywhere claiming this is a root only forum...

No it does not say it anywhere on this forum but same is the case with "This Forum is only for those who can read", it is no where in the forum rules. But it is assumed.
Similarly, this forum is based on development, which again means that you will have to work with system files which in turn means that you need to have root access..
Most of the tools, methods, guides on this forum are for root users.
And this is what JJ meant. I hope I made it very clear.
100% correct zoot1.
No root = no development = no XDA .
Sure you can join XDA and not root but you are very limited in what you can achieve .
Also the questions asked often get an answer that presumes the user has rooted .

Good luck

Well, basically, there is only one way to do this properly. Everything, that looks suspicious, in that manor, like (eg.g. In my case) HRS hotels..
Not Samsung, don't need it, gone.
Or: GMail, Google app. Belongs to Android. Keeping it..
I'd say, create a backup, just in case, then try it out, but as slow as you can and not just: This, this, this.. and ohh.. I know! This can go, to!
And infact you just deleted the csc.. just be carfefull!
And if something goes wrong, who cares? You created a backup As long as you backup your stff, before mucking around, with your system files, you're pretty much fine!
I learnt to do this sort of stuff, by thinking: It's AOSP, I've got the stuff on my PC and I'm really nosy! Let's do this, this.. Oh... wiat. Wait if.. Oh, who cares!
Just be a daredevil, don't be afraid, to mod your phone. Always do a backup (NAND, or ADB) and you're fine, like I said
Happy daring!

I'm not actually deleting anything, just using the disable function in ICS. Thank you very much for the feedback though. I did pretty much do what you said, trial and error. And if something goes wrong I can just enable the app again.

First about touchwiz home, you also can disable it on unrooted stock, if you installed a third party launcher before like apex.
About trial and error and disabling, still be careful, if you disable something the system needs it could be your Rom gets unstable or won't boot when you reboot next time. At this case the rooted method is way better, because without you aren't able to backup or restore if something fails. Yes you can mess up more than without root, but it doesn't really matter, because you can backup your whole system.
Edit: ok, sry my fault, you indeed can't disable touchwiz home without root.

Backup and Format
Try to install antivirus and full scan if you face same problem Backup your Important data like contacts, notes etc complete wipe your phone
one thing I know for sure is that I have a large quantity of texts that I haven't sent. I've tried to get some legitimate logs but I keep having.difficulty. As for wiping my storage has been stuck as majority USB Mass Storage and I can't mount my external SD. I ran Dr. Web which didn't find anything except that my phone was rooted.
oh and for a split second when I opened GOsms to respond to a text I saw a whole bunch of animated emoticons floating around on the GOsms inbox screen. don't know if that means anything, but it freaked me out because I didn't intend for it to occur. and a large quantity of permissions and disk writing happened last night when I discovered this issue. Does Meta-INF mean anything?

As this is a messaging issue and go SMS is the app your using it is common sense to remove that first to test it out. Had many odd issues when i hhad used it and even brought it up in the apps thread with no good reply even though many had privacy concerns

Ohhh okay, I see what you mean now. Well I just did a complete wipe and reformat of all my phone storage, and external SD. So if I have another problem I'm gonna lose it. I used the Infuse Toolkit to do all this and used the failsafe ROM to ensure stock while maintaining root. Is there any error in all that I did? If not I'll just go ahead and do a Heimdall return to stock, then root process. Thank you all for the input though

In the case of losing your phone, some apps on Google Play supports "remote wipe" feature that helps you to clear your phone remotely.
Yeah currently a big fan of lookout premium now was just wondering about the encryption because I'm sort of paranoid and I have a lot of sensitive data and I work in a high risk environment just worried if my phone isn't lost but someone gets a hold of it for a short time enough to plug in through USB or something of that nature

Note 2 keeps rebooting... argh!!!!

For some reason today while playing pandora, the phone just shut off... now just kept going to reboot hell...
** i have only done the root stock rom with odin when it came out, nothing else done.... SDM was frozen each time....
this has happened once before a couple months ago... i just factory reset it and resetup settings.... since then i have used titanium backup and it does its scheduled backups....
however once i restore with titanium backup all apps and system data today, it works for maybe 30 minutes then shuts off.... power it back on and back to reboot issue...
i can then only assume either system app or 3rd party app updated on its own and causing the issue...
is there a way to find out easier which one it is without pulling my hair out and doing one restore at a time ?
